OUR HOGWARTS INFORMER
via Twitter

Welcome to Our Hogwarts!! We would like to thank you for choosing our school for your magical studies!

Please read the Our Hogwarts Agreement and Guidelines so that you may become familiar with our regulations and expectations for this site. After registering for an account, please proceed to the Sorting Ceremony to be sorted into your house.

If you would like to teach at Our Hogwarts, please proceed to the Job Applications board to view the available positions at our school. Candidates will be evaluated and assessed based on the information provided on your application. Please do not apply for a teaching position if you cannot commit to the time commitment.

There also may be positions available within the Magical Shopping Districts. If you would like to work at one of our fine selling establishments, please view the Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade application threads to apply for a position.

We would like to thank everyone for being a part of Our Hogwarts. This site is not about being the school with the coolest layout or most amazing graphics (although we try to do that). Our Hogwarts is here for everyone to be a part of an amazing cohesive family unit and to make great friends. Each and every member makes this site what it is today and we would like to thank each and every one of you for your dedication and loyalty to Our Hogwarts.

[ ]The Sorting Ceremony
The Sorting Hat is battered and old; it's patched, frayed, and extremely dirty. In order to speak and sing, a tear along the brim opens like a mouth. It speaks inside of the hat with a small, quiet voice to the wearer and it can read thoughts and respond to them. When not sorting students, the Sorting Hat rests on its stool in Dumbledore's office.

Charms are a type of magic spell concerned with enchanting an object to behave in a way that isn't normal for that object. Charms is also something of a catch-all for spells which aren't Transfiguration (spells which change the inherent nature of an object). In some sense, if a spell isn't Transfiguration, it's probably Charms.

The Hogwarts library contains tens of thousands of books on thousands of shelves. Included in its many sections is an Invisibility Section, a section with information about dragons, and a Restricted Section at the back, set off with a rope. The Owlery, where the school owls and the owls belonging to students live, is located on the top of West Tower. It is a circular stone room, rather cold and drafty, because none of the windows had glass in them. The floor is entirely covered in straw, owl droppings, and the regurgitated skeletons of mice and voles. Hundreds upon hundreds of owls of every breed imaginable are nestled here on perches that rise right up to the top of the tower, nearly all of them asleep, though here and there a round amber eye glares.

[ ]Kitchens
The Hogwarts kitchens are located directly below the Great Hall and are just the same size. They have high ceilings and a great brick fireplace at one end. Mounds of brass pots and pans are heaped around the walls. There are preparation tables directly below the four house tables in the Hall above, and when the time comes for the food to be served, it is magically transported through the ceiling of the kitchen onto the plates. The kitchens are staffed by a large number of house elves. To get to the kitchens, take the door to the right of the main staircase in the entrance hall. Follow the corridor until you come to a painting of a bowl of fruit. Tickle the pear and it giggles and becomes a door handle.

The headquarters of the Ministry of Magic is located in the heart of London. A visitor to the Ministry of Magic comes to a broken-down red telephone box located on a dingy street which has several shabby offices, a pub, and a wall covered with graffiti. When the telephone in the box is dialed (62442, the word M-A-G-I-C), the welcome witch's voice answers, not from the phone but from the air as if the person is standing right there. Visitors must state their business, upon which a silver badge pops out with the visitor's name and purpose of visit. Then the telephone box drops down like a lift for about one minute, after which the visitor is in the Atrium.
