The Sorting Ceremony The Sorting Hat is battered and old; it's patched, frayed, and extremely dirty. In order to speak and sing, a tear along the brim opens like a mouth. It speaks inside of the hat with a small, quiet voice to the wearer and it can read thoughts and respond to them. When not sorting students, the Sorting Hat rests on its stool in Dumbledore's office. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster, The Sorting Hat

Platform Nine and Three-Quarters (1 sub-board) To get to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, "All you have to do is walk straight at the barrier between platforms nine and ten. Don't stop and don't be scared you'll crash into it, that's very important. Best do it at a bit of a run if you're nervous. Go on, go now..." Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Entrance Hall Double oak front doors, opening to the west. Large, cavernous room, lit by torches, with ceiling so high it's barely visible. Wide marble staircase opposite the front doors (east wall) leads up to first floor. Double doors to the right (south wall) lead into the Great Hall. On the east wall are two doors, one on either side of the staircase. To the north of the staircase is a door leading down a flight of steps to the first dungeon level. To the south is a door leading to the Hufflepuff common room and the kitchens. On the left (north wall) is a door leading to a smaller antechamber where First Years wait to be sorted. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Great Hall Vast chamber with an enchanted ceiling which mirrors the sky outside. Four long tables for the four houses. Closest to the doors from the Entrance Hall is Slytherin, then Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and next to the far wall, Gryffindor. The teachers sit at the High Table, a table on a raised platform at the front of the room. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Housepoints Room This room houses the Housepoint Hourglasses. Each house has different amounts of crystals in them determining how many points each house has received. Come find your hourglass and see what place you're in! Professors, staff and heads please come here to post who got points. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Detention Hall Uh oh! Why are you here?! YOU must have gotten DETENTION! The Detention Hall is next door to Filch's Office and this is where you will be serving your detention, obviously. Blackboards cover the walls and there are desks in many rows in the room. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster

Transfiguration Transfiguration is magic which changes one object into another. It is possible to change inanimate objects into animate ones and vice versa. Animagi (1 sub-board) Animagi is where you will learn to become an Animagus, a wizard or witch who can transform into an animal. You will learn the techniques needed to transform into your respected animal of your choosing. Animagi requires concentration, dedication and strict discipline to complete this course. Charms Charms are a type of magic spell concerned with enchanting an object to behave in a way that isn't normal for that object. Charms is also something of a catch-all for spells which aren't Transfiguration (spells which change the inherent nature of an object). In some sense, if a spell isn't Transfiguration, it's probably Charms. Moderator: Emma Taylor

Forbidden Corridor This corridor is off limits to students!... or is suppose to be. Filch and his cat guard this corridor and anyone caught here gets detention.... so don't get caught! Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Hospital Wing Do you need medical attention? Did you get hurt? Or have an accident in class? Come to the hospital wing and get fixed right up! A long line of beds, screens available for privacy, Madam Pomfrey's office is at one end. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster, Ana Donovan, Donna Avery, Cara Sykes
Library The Hogwarts library contains tens of thousands of books on thousands of shelves. Included in its many sections is an Invisibility Section, a section with information about dragons, and a Restricted Section at the back, set off with a rope. A signed note from a teacher is required to peruse that section of the library; it contains books of Dark Magic only used by older students studying advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts. One of the books in this section screams when opened. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster, KarnaRose Talbot, Cody Parker, Mary Anna Hansen
Muggle Studies Classwork includes charts showing Muggles lifting heavy objects without magic, understanding the importance of electricity to Muggle technology, and so on. The emphasis, like Arthur Weasley's enthusiasms, appears to focus solely on the physical aspects of life without magic, without mention of cultural differences. Moderator: Elessar Garrison
Headmaster and Headmistress' Office The Headmaster and Headmistress of the school reside here during work hours. If you have any questions or concerns or just need to talk to them, please come in to see one or both of them. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Divination Divination is magic which attempts to foresee future events. Many in the Wizarding World consider this branch of magic to be imprecise at best. There are several types of Divination that will be taught within this class. Moderator: Serafina Ayris

High Tower
Owlery The Owlery, where the school owls and the owls belonging to students live, is located on the top of West Tower. It is a circular stone room, rather cold and drafty, because none of the windows had glass in them. The floor is entirely covered in straw, owl droppings, and the regurgitated skeletons of mice and voles. Hundreds upon hundreds of owls of every breed imaginable are nestled here on perches that rise right up to the top of the tower, nearly all of them asleep, though here and there a round amber eye glares. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Potions Potions are magical liquids created by mixing various ingredients in a cauldron according to very specific rules. These mixtures must usually be happy to give their magical effect. The ingredients in potions range from the mundane to the bizarre and fantastic, and the procedures for creating some potions can be complicated and time-consuming. Moderator: Lara Desser

Kitchens The Hogwarts kitchens are located directly below the Great Hall and are just the same size. They have high ceilings and a great brick fireplace at one end. Mounds of brass pots and pans are heaped around the walls. There are preparation tables directly below the four house tables in the Hall above, and when the time comes for the food to be served, it is magically transported through the ceiling of the kitchen onto the plates. The kitchens are staffed by a large number of house elves. To get to the kitchens, take the door to the right of the main staircase in the entrance hall. Follow the corridor until you come to a painting of a bowl of fruit. Tickle the pear and it giggles and becomes a door handle. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Dungeon 5 Some third year accidentally plastered frog brains all over the ceiling in this dungeon, which suggests that it is used for making potions. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Care of Magical Creatures Come here to learn about the various creatures know to the wizarding world. Classwork usually consists of handling, feeding, controlling various creatures. Moderator: Taryn Connor

The Lake The Lake is on the south side of the Hogwarts Castle. The lake is approximately a half-mile in diameter and the home to various creatures. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
The Forbidden Forest To the west of Hogwarts Castle is a large, dark forest. The forest is thick with trees but there are paths, brooks, and some clearings. Off the path, the way is almost impassable, although people have moved through it and creatures as large as Acromantulas and a Ford Anglia have managed to get around. The forbidden forest is home to a wide and strange assortment of creatures. Anything wild and dangerous that needs a place to live is put there. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
The Whomping Willow The Whomping Willow is a very valuable, very violent tree planted alone in the middle of the school grounds. It was planted to disguise the opening to a secret passage from Hogwarts to the Shrieking Shack. There is a way to temporarily paralyze the tree. There is a particular knot on the trunk which can be pressed using a long branch in order to stop the attacks. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
The Lawns (1 sub-board) There is a wide flat lawn opposite the castle from the forest and Hagrid's hut where the First Years took their first flying lesson. The sloping lawns lead down toward the forest and border the lake. Come to the lawns to have a picnic or hang out, play some muggle sports if you want to as well! Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Gameskeeper's Hut The Gamekeeper and Keeper of the Keys lives in a small wooden house on the edge of the forbidden forest. A crossbow and a pair of galashes were outside the front door...There was only one room inside. Hams and pheasants were hanging from the ceiling, a copper kettle was boiling on the open fire, and in the corner stood a massive bed with a patchwork quilt over it. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster, Hunter Larinis, Rowan Hawthorn, Faith Summers
The City (1 sub-board) London is the capital city of both the United Kingdom and the constituent country of England. The ancient City of London to which the name originally belonged still retains its mediaeval boundaries; but the name "London" has long applied more generally to the whole metropolis which has grown up around it. Heathrow International Airport is located within the great city. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster

Little Whinging, Surrey A quiet, perfectly normal suburb of London, where you'll find the quiet, perfectly normal residence at Number 4, Privet Drive. Surrey is a county in Britain located to the southwest of London. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster
Purge and Dowse aka St. Mungo's St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is reached via Purge and Dowse, Ltd. in Muggle London. Purge and Dowse, Ltd. is an red-brick, old-fashioned department store that has “Closed for Refurbishment” signs hanging on its doors. One speaks to the ugly dummy in the front window, who will nod its assent and beckon you to enter. In a process very similar to how one gets onto Platform 9 and 3/4, one walks into the window. The Healers at St. Mungo's are trained and equipped to treat a wide variety of magic-related illnesses and injuries. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster, Benjamin Scott, Christopher Bennet
Ministry of Magic (7 sub-boards) The headquarters of the Ministry of Magic is located in the heart of London. A visitor to the Ministry of Magic comes to a broken-down red telephone box located on a dingy street which has several shabby offices, a pub, and a wall covered with graffiti. When the telephone in the box is dialed (62442, the word M-A-G-I-C), the welcome witch's voice answers, not from the phone but from the air as if the person is standing right there. Visitors must state their business, upon which a silver badge pops out with the visitor's name and purpose of visit. Then the telephone box drops down like a lift for about one minute, after which the visitor is in the Atrium. Moderators: Headmistress, Headmaster, Julia Bridges, Adrianna D'Aubigne
