Anna wandered into the Great Hall, fresh from art class with her assignment to create some graffiti. Now, obviously the girl wasn't going to whip out some spray paint and go crazy on the hall, because that'd just be silly as she'd get caught faster than you could say expelled. For her first public defacing, she'd be a little more discreet. Hoping she wouldn't be noticed as she sidled over to the Slytherin table and sat down, she kept her head down and drew her robes over her blue Ravenclaw tie and whatnot. Mmhm, she could totally pass for a Slytherin.. and this was the only time she'd ever want to do that, just so you know. Then again, she'd rather be a Slytherin than a Hufflepuff, but she'd rather be a Ravenclaw over the other houses any day. Thankfully the Slytherin table was pretty abandoned at the moment, not having been posted on in over a year now.. how crazy. Anna looked shiftily from side to side and sat her bag up on the table, pulling out a plain ol' black sharpie and pretending to rest her head on her arm to shield her actions from nosy onlookers. Once she was positive no one was going to catch her mini graffiti-ing, she took the cap off the sharpie and scribbled a message on the table, signing it ATF. She had no idea the alias ATF was already taken by a very attractive frog named Abba, for she simply meant it to mean Anna the fabulous. Lame, she knew, but it was all she could think of on her walk up here and she didn't have time to waste fantasizing about what her superhero name would be when she became one. She had work to do! Taking a moment to admire her handiwork, she grinned and threw the sharpie back in her bag before standing up and sneaking away from the table she never belonged at in the first place.

Aw, the old days of Cara's Slytherin ways. As well as a rhyme, oh my. Her hand slid down the smooth surface of the Slytherin table during one of the lesser busy hours before she sighed happily taking a seat her legs still outside. Leaning back on her elbows she set her legs up on the table next to hers, Hufflepuff. Hmph, they deserved her dragonhide boots on their table. Tilting her head back she closed her eyes relaxing. It wasn't much that Cara Sykes could relax, but when she did. She made sure not to move for quite a few hours.

Serafina had been spending sometime up at the castle for one reason or another doing this that and the other, stuff she could probably never manage to recall or explain to anybody in any great detail should they ask her, and had decided that in the process of all this she'd gotten hungry.
It was a funny time of day to go looking for food, not one of your regular scheduled meal times....but then it was still the summer holidays too, buuuut when had there never NOT been food to be had in the great hall if you just happened to wander in there. Well ok perhaps in the middle of the night, but having not actually tried that before she could really be quoted on that.
Sera knew the route through that room so well that she was not even looking up from the copy of the Daily Prophet that she held open in her hands as she stalked her way through the student tables, taking the path down between what was the Slytherin and Hufflepuff tables on her way to where she'd usually sat for the past term up on the staff table. But something stopped her. Mid stride she walked straight into something blocking the aisle, stumbled and dropped her paper to the floor with a thunk.
Frowning Sera looked up, having not at all expected there to be a pair of legs blocking her path. She followed them to their owner, Cara a fellow former Slytherin, and then shook her head.
"Sorry, was miles away." She rolled her eyes at her own wandering attention as she bent down to retrive her newspaper.

Cara had been absentmindedly staring at the wall across the Great Hall in thought. Part of her missed her youngun days, while part of her was glad she was an adult now. It meant more duties and helping students wasn't so bad perhaps, but she still missed the old days. Stressing out over exams such as O.W.Ls or N.E.W.Ts in which hers was more directed toward Care of Magical Creatures and Potions. "Hm," she said in thought as she glanced to the side to see somebody walking down the aisle. Who it was, she wasn't sure. There was a Daily Prophet covering their face and she watched them not moving her legs. Would they actually do it?
She grinned slightly and watched as they walked right into her legs. Granted, it hurt her a bit, but it was slightly worth it, at least until she saw who it was as the paper fell to the ground. Frowning slightly she moved her legs off the Hufflepuff table as she shook her head. "No no, it was my fault. Could have.. seen you coming or something," she lied. She, like Cara, was a former Slytherin. Although she had to admit she was slightly disappointed when she took the Head of House at the rival house. Bending over she helped her pick up her paper watching some of the moving pictures and the scowl coming from a few wanted dead or alive ads.
Giving them back to her she leaned back, "So.. um how've been? All these years," she asked with a smile. Sure, she had seen her about on the staff table or ect, but she couldn't remember how long ago it was when they actually sat down and talked with each other.

Serafina took back the paper gratefully, rolled it up and tossed it onto the tabletop with a thwack as it landed, no doubt a few of the pictures would be even more disgruntled at their mistreatment but what the hell they were only pictures after all.
"Yeah well, teach me to read and walk at the same time I suppose." Sera shrugged, thinking for a moment before taking a perch on the bench near to where Cara still sat. She was still hungry but lets face it there would be no difference in the food that would be there for her on the Staff table than there would be on the Slytherin table. Besides it was kind of nice to be sitting there again, kind of nostalgic for the old days of being a student. And she couldn't remember the last time she'd actually spoken to Cara, must have been years...
"Oh yeah all good really thanks, just can't seem to stay away from this place...not while home is so quiet with Vancha off on another of his little adventures he's always disappearing on and the daughter grown up and off with her friends most of the time. Actually looking forward to the start of the new term all the noise and stuff to do...." Sera trailed off well aware that she had begun to ramble, but it was the truth. Funny as a student she had hated all the noise and chirrpy activity in the castle but now she seemed to crave it more than ever.
"So how about you? You were working in the Hospital Wing right?"

Cara laughed lightly, "Well you seemed to have it down so far, just gotta get the reading, looking and walking down part down." She smiled shrugging slightly as she relaxed in her seat as she took a seat. Leaning over she grabbed a piece of buttered toast sliding it into her mouth taking a bite closing her eyes, "Mm, gotta admit I love the Elves' cooking, don't know how they learn." Opening her eyes she shifted her body to the side glancing at her. Raising a brow she remembered the wedding of Vancha and her, but didn't remember the daughter part. Especially the fact that her daughter would be old enough to hang out with her friends. "Oh? How old is she?" She asked curiously.
The rest was predictable. It's the same reason that most graduates find their way back to the school somehow. It lead Cara to the Slytherin table today and Sera as well. Chewing absentmindedly on her toast again she nodded, "Summer seems a bit slow, but it's good to take a small break from hectic terms. Although I have to admit I'm definitely ready to get back into the swing of things," she grinned thinking of future plans. Which for now would remain silent. "Although I'm sure when term comes, I'll be looking for a break from all the stuff to do." She grinned finishing up the piece, before snagging another one.
Nodding she shrugged, "Yup, it's not too bad. I remember starting out under Donna. And you? Gryffindor Head of House?" She asked with a wrinkle of her nose.

Serafina looked over the choice of food that was laid out on the table, not as much as there would have been if it was breakfast and not that bit later but there was still always something appetising to be had. She finally settled on dishing up some corned beef hash that she knew was always a good option no matter the time of day. She spooned it out until she had a decent plateful and began to tuck in.
"Mmm couldn't agree more." Serafina said around a mouthful before swallowing and adding, "Always look forward to the food here, I can't cook for toffee, especially not when it's compared to the stuff the Elves create."
Sera noted the look of confusion come across Cara when she'd mentioned Bec, and nothing new there really. Given some of the trauma and drama that had gone on in their families life since the time she had graduated...huge chunks even that she still couldn't remember and a whole lot of that revolved around the vampire child.
"Bec, she's 11, same age as the triplets..." Serafina trailed off, she wasn't really sure how that came to be at all but she had some strange suspicions that Vancha and vampire trickery and magic had something to do with it all, it was no wonder she felt rather distanced from her daughter at the best of times. "Supposed to be starting school this year if she's not off on some hairbrained adventure with her father. Must be something to do with Ravenclaws." She shook her head, thinking about it all too much caused a headache to begin creeping at her temples. It was something she'd just decided to accpet was the norm and not delve into any deeper because Sera was afraid she wouldn't like the answers.
Sera wrinkled her nose along with Cara, glad the subject had switched to something she could answer a little better. "Yeah Gryffindor, that was a little...strange...don't think I ever quite got used to it. Though I admit some of those Gryffindors could have made very worthy Slytherins and I did of course try my best to corrupt them." She grinned, "But I'm not sure if I'll be taking up the position again this year, could do with a break to just stick with the teaching and let someone else have a go at wrangling them.
"And you, sticking with the nursing or do you have different plans for this term?" Sera asked.

Cara laughed nodding, "Thank god for them. Wonder who would take over if House Elves ever did go on strike or leave." She paused for a few moments lost in her thoughts, "Wonder if there's actually some binding thing keeping them here.. Or is it some obligation." Deciding it wasn't worth much more of her thoughts, "Hm, well let's hope they never do," she shrugged smirking as she glanced out across the hall. Moving her arm back up she took another bite of the toast. Definitely one of her guilty pleasures, alongside firewhiskey.
Tilting her head in curiosity as she raised a brow glancing over, "Irish Twins?" she asked. Babies born within the same year, but not actually on the same day, perhaps 9 or so months apart. Only thing she could think of. "Wait, so you mentioned a daughter.." she paused. "But not the triplets.. you have more.. or?" she paused knowing the other option. At some point they died. Frowning slightly at the thought she took a deep breath taking another bite. Life could be cruel sometimes.
"Ah, true. Eleven is the year to be jolly." She laughed lightly shaking her head. Perhaps some parents preferred to do the home schooling themselves. Although part of Cara felt empty. It seemed like everybody had grown up and had kids themselves and she was still in limbo. At least the people that were still around from graduating years collected. Somewhat. She knew she lost her memory at one point, but over the years they had come back, but she knew she never felt the same since then. Something darker was forming within Cara. Pulling herself from her thoughts she glanced over smiling faintly, "Do.. you and your husband spend a lot of time apart?" She asked.
Part of her wondered if Sera was still happy. Maybe it was just her picking up on wrong signals or maybe it was too far and personal. Either way, she had to admit she was curious. A few awkward moments passed before a laugh left Cara's lips as she grinned nodding, "That's the Slytherin I know," she teased her lightly crossing her legs as she kept them on the bench across from herself. "You know, I notice that sometimes.. some Slytherins can be slight pussies, while some Gryffindors are just trouble. It's amusing to watch the Gryffindors being the one to dungbomb the toilets and the Caretaker being the one to clean them up." She paused before putting on more of a stern face, "Of course that activity is definitely prohibited." She added quickly.
Cara nodded slowly after taking a deep breath, "Good plan. Seems like Slytherin was always the popular Head of House to take," she added laughing softly. She paused nodding, "Different plans. Healing.. and helping kids.. just isn't me anymore. Felt.. weird after coming back and all. I felt like I needed to teach something better.. thinking of applying for the Potions position. Similar in a way.. same skills," she shrugged slightly biting her lip before tilting her head to the side, "How about you?"

Serafina didn't reply, merely tucked into more of her food. It truely would be a dark day if the house elves ever did decide to leave the castle, but they always seemed to really enjoy their work like serving people food and cleaning and stuff actually made them happy. While Serafina couldn't understand this at all she was mighty grateful for it and that probably explained why they did use house elves and not hired people to do those jobs, less hassle.
Shaking her head at Cara questioned her about her daughter, Sera realised she managed to confuse her completely. Nothing new really she tended to ramble whatever was going on in her mind without really thinking if the other person would actually understand what she was talking about.
"Mm no, sorry. I've just got the one. I meant those Novus triplets that like to terrorise this place, I believe they're all first years too." She explained while thinking quietly to herself lucky, Merlin just imagine having three of them at the same time now that had to be chaos. Then again Bec being born a vampire had been bad enough, she'd had no clue how to handle the girl for so long and was really not looking forward to the prospect of any more children...Sera had decided that she just really wasn't the maternal type.
She had to laugh, almost slightly bitterly as Cara asked the question. Did she and Vancha spend a lot of time apart..."Now there's the understatement. He has an uncanny habit of just disappearing and then coming back at random times with little to no explanation as to where he's been. It's frustrating to say the very least and tiresome. Makes me glad when the term begins again and all the people are back, can find me some company." She grinned as she spoke this, really not wanting to moan about it.
Glad of the change of subject, she should have known that something was wrong really when talking of your husband should make you happy and yet it made her feel rather blue, but for the time being she would ignore it.
"I makes me wonder sometimes whether the sorting hat gets it wrong, perhaps old age is beginning to catch up with it." Serafina shook her head. She'd been head of both Gryffindor and Slytherin house at one point and it had really surprised her just how little difference there was between the two of them at times, she couldn't speak for the Ravenclaws or the Hufflepuffs but it seemed the dividing line between the other two houses was getting thinner all the time.
Sera had to grin as Cara admitted she wanted a change of direction with her career. Nursing had never much appealed to Serafina, the whole bedside manner thing seemed like too much effort. Had to be the right sort of person to do it but she was certainly impressed with Cara for giving it a go and finding out it wasn't for her, at least not anymore.
"Oh potions that'll be good, always loved that subject. And you're right, similar sort of skills I suppose, you'll be able to teach them the healing potions and what not.
"Me, back with the divination again." Sera grinned, "Every year I think hmmm maybe I'll have a change and try something different, but then get all sentimental at the last minute and go for it again. One day I'll run out of new ideas to make my classes interesting and then I'll give it up." She laughed actually quite looking forward to some of the lessons she had planned for the coming term.

"Ohh," she paused laughing slightly. Luckily, she had only heard of them and didn't teach them. Thankfully. "I see," she grinned relaxing back feeling satisfied. "Makes sense though.. their parents were pretty crazy in their own years as well." Cara shrugged shaking her head. Relaxing she crossed her legs laughing softly, "Mm, reminds me of those cheating muggle men stories. Although I doubt that's his actual plan or anything," she added quickly. "But I see.. that can be effective on the relationship," Cara said thoughtfully as she nodded slowly.
"Hm," she tilted her head thoughtfully. "Perhaps it does sometimes.. although sometime I expect that Gryffindors are just plain stupid and brave sometimes that they go out and do crazy things that in turn get them into trouble.. or just one of them comes up with a stupid idea.. and then.." she paused for effect "yup." She finally said laughing softly as she shook her head. She did think the hat got some things wrong, or a lot of things wrong in it's past, but lately she was fairly proud of her Slytherins. They were actually acting like Slytherins lately and not a bunch of giggling Hufflepuffs. Which something in that moment panged the back of her memory. Something she had long forgotten about herself. Something she couldn't remember.
Cara nodded smiling, "Yeah, not much change sounds pretty good about now. No more healing and still doing similar.. and then I can teach some darker potions." She said grinning as she tucked her hands into her pants as she nodded, "That's what I'm worried about with some of these classes. They seem like they would be fun to teach, but then at the end of the term, you reach your end limit of ideas and you don't want to recycle so you move on," she sighed shaking her head. It was certainly complicated indeed. "Sounds like you're having fun though," she added smiling.

Serafina chuckled slightly bitterly as Cara said the antics of her husband sounded just like those stories of cheating muggles and what have you. "Oh don't worry, that's certianly been what's crossed my mind many times before, especially considering how much of a 'ladies man' he liked to think himself. But I don't honestly think it's that...somehow if it was it might make things a little easier but..." She trailed off and shrugged, preferring not to think about it any further.
"Mm, that is also true there's a fair few of them that can just be so thickheaded it's quite unbelieveable really. Although having, thankfully, never been a Gryffindor for real can't say for certain if it's all real or if they're putting on a show trying to live up to some stereotype of what their house should be." Sera frowned, well aware she was rambling somewhat again. "Still you're right the Slytherins about at the moment certainly show a lot of promise, am hoping to see them impress me over the coming terms as they grow up." She grinned wickedly feeling almost like a proud mother....no mother was a bad choice of words but it would do, close enough to what she meant and she was sure Cara would get it.
"See now I thought you go in for a little of the darker stuff too. Don't know why more of the Professors don't, got to make the kiddies aware of what's out there right?" Sera smirked, potions could often be too much fun and happy potions that the more sinister aspect of them could get forgotten, but really with all the poisons and dangerous potions there were out there it shouldn't all be fun and games.
"That's my trouble, I don't like to repeat the typical lessons over and over again. Ok so there are some things that will pretty much always crop up on the exams but I like to delve into a few of the lesser known, more obscure and darker aspects of divination too. But it gets harder each time as there's not a lot of information on a lot of them it can be hard to scrape together a lesson about it." Even this year she'd come across some rather interesting old forms of divination that people rarely thought of anymore but the actual information about it was so limited she wouldn't be able to teach it...still she thought she'd pulled together a farily decent crop of topics to cover. "But yeah still having fun with it, so maybe next year I'll go for a change."

Cara couldn't help, but to snort slightly. One thing she thought of him and it certainly wasn't a ladies man, but most men did think of themselves as a ladies man. So there was no use there. "Ah, of course." She raised a brow glancing over curious. "Not many women would say that.. Although it is easier to say that I suppose.." she paused in thought. "One of those.. just tell me already type of a deal.. better than not knowing and trying to find out," laughs softly shaking her head. "Men are just something else sometimes.." mumbles.
Cara laughed nodding slowly, "Hmm. Never thought of the stereotypes.. although the hat probably wouldn't put them in the house if they didn't belong right? Although it has been wrong sometimes..." she trailed off sighing. "I give up trying to understand that thing.." laughs softly crossing a leg over the other as she glanced at the table they laid on. Cara nodded slowly in thought, "Mmm.. let's hope they don't. It'd be interesting to see how they fair in Quidditch in the future years
Cara laughed lightly, "Very true.. I think Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts could be dark.. depending if you send the children out to defend against something with no preparation.. hm.. possibly other classes too.. depending if you teach dark aspects of it.. History of Magic is a potential one.." Grins laughing softly. "Mm.." She paused. "Curious.. what are some of the darker aspects of divination? Never thought it'd be a dark subject.. seeing the future type of a subject.. was always what I figured," she said keeping an open mind.

Serafina nodded and made a disgrutled sort of sound in agreement with the 'men' comment and figured it was probably best to just leave it at that, far too much time could be wasted on the subject and Sera just didn't think it was worth it.
She finished what she had been eating and pushed her plate away across the table. That was much better, teach her for not getting to breakfast in time wouldn't it. She then reached for the silver coffee pot and poured herself a mug full, setting the spoon to stir itself as she added cream and sugar, heaven.
"No I don't understand it sometimes, wonder if it's going senile or something in it's old age...but then remember it's just a hat. Magical or not it's still just a hat and so I presume it has a reason for all the choices it makes." Sera shrugged and sipped her drink.
"There's quite a few really, you could probably find darker aspects in most of the subjects if you just searched for it hard enough. Whether you'd be allowed to teach it or not is another thing though." She chuckled.
"Oh yeah there's quite a dark and grissley side to divination. I didn't think so myself the first term I taught it, but looking for new ideas and what have you I came across some rather interesting old practices." Serafina smirked, it had made for some very interesting reading. "I mean last year I taught them a little basic necromancy, but those old priests and what have you used all sorts of nasty methods to predict the future. Human sacrifice, raising demons, dissecting animals and studying their entrails...always makes for a fun Halloween lesson." She grinned wickedly looking forward even more to her next coming lesson.

Betta entered the Great Hall, noted that, as usual, there were pranks going back and forth between Slytherin and Gryffindor, then went to sit down at the farthest end in order to stay far out of all of madness. She took outo her Defense Against the Dark Arts book and begn reading, ignoring all of the loud talk going on around her.
