Vlad walked onto the Hogwarts express. He said his goodbyes quickly because as his family had said, "Big Families needs small goodbyes if not the big family will cause big homesickness." He laughed at how that quote sounded when he translated it in his head into English. He then walked up and down the train looking for an empty, or a nice person in a compartment, to site in.
After walking to the last train car he found an empty compartment. He brought his one somewhat big bag of clothes. It was really all his family could afford for him. Though it was mostly what muggles called 'preppy' clothes he didn't mind how others thought of them. They were nice and comfortable and they kept him warm and made sure his personal regions of his body didn't show.
He put his rather large suitcase into the seat next to him. He looked around and wondered where Tshev, his cat, was. He continued to look around and see all the wizard kids get onto the train after him.

Cassie stumbled onto the platform again followed closley by a man in a training jacket and pants, both covered with an Australian flag. Cassie had on a matching jacket with black shorts and a blue tank but had let her red hair fall down her shoulders slightly wavy. "I'm sorry your mother and father couldnt come." The man apologied awkwardly handing her her small suitcase. "its alright. I'm used to it" she said sighing and grabbing the suitcase. The man waved to her as he walked out taking a portkey back to Sydney.
Placing her duffel on her back she placed her bag on the train opening the door to the corridor. Walking foward she jumped onto the train almost bumping into a Gryffindor seventh year. Her bag was pakced with all the essentials. Her favorite snacks that England simply didnt offer, a few magazines, her camera and of course her sketch pad. Trying to find an empty compartment she saw one with only a boy in it. "May I join you" she asked her blatently obvious as she stepped in.

Vlad saw the door was propped open and went to check it out when a girl about his age smiled at him and asked him if she can join him. In his Russian accent he asked, "Your not trying to bring back the soviets are you?" he said this sternly. He then laughed hoping he didn't scare her. "Just kidding, Yes of course you can join me. I am Vladamir Keegan, but people just call me Vlad. Its easier and sounds more un-Russianish." he said and then went back to his seat giving the girl a pathway to walk in the compartment with.

Cassie watched as the guy opened the door, looking her age. As he began to speak she began to laugh at his joke, knowing a bit of Russian culture herself. "Perhaps so" she commented with a chuckle. Cassie moved foward and sat down in the seat opposite him, putting her duffle next to her. "Nice to to meet you Vlad. My names Cassandra but everyone calls me Cassie...doesnt sound less Australian so i suppose I'm fine. If i start talkign out the Outback though things may change" she said with a small giggle.

Vlad smiled back at her when she introduced herself. "You look like a um... normal person like me." he said forgetting the word 'muggle'. He would remember the word in due time. So your from Australia. Not much uh... Russian Orthodox Churches there, i mean i heard such." he said as he laughed and then awaited her response.

With a small smirk she replied. "Well things are not always what they seem" Tucking her wand into her bag she turned back to him. "UNfortunately there are not many Russian orthodox churches there, due to the obvious lack of Russians. Exceot for my friend, but he moved from Russia" she said nodding. "On the flip side I'm not sure there are a lot of Australians who surf in Russia" she commented tossing her hair over her shoulder.

Vlad listened to her he smiled and knew that was the answer after he just had said unfortunately. "Well there are surfers. But they are never in the ocean. All our ocean's are too cold any time of year for surfing or just touching or even have liquid. I do however, see surfers all the time around the Black Sea when our family goes there for the weekend some summers." he said and then remembered the European part of Russia. There is also some in Kaliningrad. He said. But that's not where the family lives." he said and then took some deep breaths
"I don't live in Russia by the way, I live here in the UK." he said and then turned back around and looked in his bag for something to eat. He searched really hard but didn't find anything then he sighed and the train started to rattle and rock and make horrible sounds and started to leave the platform.
Vlad then remembered her saying 'things aren't always what they seem.' He waited a bit and then said. "What did you mean things are not always what they seem?"

Cassie chuckled as she listened to him talk about the surfers in Russia. She found it quite fascinating and ate up every word he said. "Yes but are they Australian" she added in the middle with a tiny laugh. "Thats so cool. I'd love to surf in Russia or..rather I'd love to go to russia. Travel the world surf, draw and take photographs. Nothing could be better than that." she added as an after thought."I draw...i mean none of my stuff is that good but its relaxing and fun for me." she said with a tiny blush.
As the train started to move she looked out the window watching the platform slip away. She waved awkwardly to the man in the jacket who waved back then left. Turning her face away from the window she opened her bag and pulled out one of her sandwiches, a simple vegemite and cheese. "So you live in the UK huh...quite cool that your family keeps to their heritage. Want one? I have regular peanut butter but i tend to stick to my vege" she asked him with a grin holding out two sandwiches.
"Well I think its true" she said after swallowing a bite. "I mean I look totally normal. But I could be some pyscotic person. I'm not. BUt I could be. People could seem sad but maybe their not sad for the reason you think they are. Its all about appearance versus reality" she said taking another bite of her sandwich.

Vlad saw her wave at a man. He noticed the guy couldn't have been her father he was too different visually. "Who was that guy?" asked Vlad as he saw her wave a the man. She then showed two sandwiches and looked at them. "Vedgi what?" he asked not knowing what a Vegemite was.
"He then decided not to try it. He didn't want to be rude but he just didn't know what the sandwich was made of he then told her the peanut butter one was better. He loved Peanut Butter and Wild berry jelly sandwiches. After all wildberrys were good in Russia.

Letting out a small sigh she turned to him. "He's my coach. I surf during the summers. He's a wizard too" she replied to his question. Cassie began to giggle at his confusion over vegemite. "Dont worry. Its a typical Australian thing. Vegemite is like yeast and salt. Its our peanut butter. Acquired taste. You can't really find it many other places so i have a few jars of it in my suitcase" she admitted with a light blush hoping he wouldnt think she was weird like that.
"Suit yourself. Most foreigners dont really like it. I like peanut butter as well." she said smiling at him as he took her sandwich. Placing the other vegemite sandwich in her bag she brushed some hair out of her eyes. "So...whats your family like? Lots of brothers and sisters?" she asked him, her green eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"Well at one time I did but they all had still births.... Just kidding. I have two brothers and a sister. They are not wizard material, even though I don't know if i even have the wizarding material." he said as he laughed at his little joke. "Yeast and salt doesn't sound too well to me." he added then heard some lady calling out "Sweets get your sweets from the snack cart."

Cassie grinned. "Everyone's got a little bit of wizarding material in them. Even me" she said with a tiny laugh. "I have a brother. He's six and already showing signs of magic. A little brat at times though." she chuckled tossing her hair over her shoulder. "Well it tastes better than it sounds.. You know its been said that Australian people are bred on the studd, and truth is we totally are" she commented with a lazy laugh. As the snack lady ran through she sighed. "Another thing i hate being from another country. Nothing is ever the same Even not the candy i like." she said biting her lip.

Vlad flagged down the cart lady and said. "Um... two of anything with chocolate and those jellybeans. Just one bag please." he said and then exchanged the money good the food. The lady then walked into the back where she stored her stuff and then went to the front of the train to start telling the children that they were almost at the school and they should get ready.
Vlad looked at the girl and handed her a chocolate frog. "Look, Cassi. Chocolates chocolate. Here hold out your hand." he said getting ready to pour some jellybeans into her hand. "and jelly beans are jellybeans." he added.

Cassie didnt watch the guy get the food, still a grumpy that they did not offer Australian candy. Suddenly Vlads voice brought her attention. In his hand he held a frog and her eyes widened slightly. "A chocolate frog....frog" she said taking it and yelping softly as it hopped in her hand. "You sure this is no prank" she asked closing her eyes and taking a quick bite. "Umm...yum. Still no Australian candy but soo good. Im pleasantly suprised" she said holding out her hand for some jelly beans.

"See... Candy is candy. Although it might look and feel weird it still tastes the same." he said and then poured her a hand of some jellybeans. "You know these things do not look like jelly belly or Easter jelly beans." he said looking at one that looked like everything in his parents food pantry blended together and frozen into solid form.
