Post by Carma Rousseau on Oct 8, 2005 20:10:13 GMT -5
Carma walked into the Hospital Wing quietly, trying to make as little sound as she could so as not to disturb Ana's 'patients.' Half of them were probably faking it anyway, trying to get out of a nasty potions test, but still, she was quiet. Carma tip-toed across the infirmary floor as students leered at her but she ignored them, a thick red package tucked under her arm with a green bow tied across it and a small card. She approached her door and laid it down in the floor in front of it, a late christmas gift.
Carma had promised herself as she left the hospital wing a little less than a year ago that she'd send Ana something nice for Christmas for all of the help that she gave her when Carma was feeling nervous to even come in and approach her. It was because of sweet, understanding people like Ana that the true Our Hogwarts family remained strong in the first place. Ana was nonjudgmental and offered support to whoever needed it. In addition, she also saved Carma from the likes of flirtations boys in the library that week and was a mean quidditch player... Carma smiled, remembering the incident in the library as she adjusted the bow and straightened up, hands on her hips. Ana was awesome, it was a shame she was always holed up in the library.
She glanced at the card and smiled, content with her gift. Wrapped in the red paper was a fat book entitled, "Common Quidditch Injuries and their Remedies." Carma figured it was something she'd be interested in if she didn't already have it. Ana was, after all, the nurse but also a former quidditch player, one of the best, or so she heard. The card attached read quite simply,
'Dear Ana,
Sorry this is a little late! You know me, I never realize anything until it's over. What can you do? But I still wanted to give you your present for all of the help you gave me last term.
Last term was scary, to say the least. Not only was it my graduating year but also there were so many other things going on and so much hostility in the school that your kindness and help was a veritable ray of sunshine for me. I've always admired how nonjudgmental you are, Ana, and we're so lucky to have people like you part of the Family.
I know you get roughed around a bit by students and staff and it can probably be pretty discouraging up here treating everyone all day, so I wanted to let you know that you're appreciated, at least by me. I admire your patience... not to mention your strong left arm. (That poor guy in the library must have bruises from all of those books you threw at him) So, I've left your christmas gift! I hope you like it. I knew I had to leave you something after how much you helped me last year.
Keep in touch! I never see you out of the infirmary, those bastard students always have you holed up in here! Be free, Ana, be free! My Library door's always open if you need a little peace and quiet.
Love, Carma.'
She smiled at her offerings and looked around the room, seeing the students eye her suspiciously. "What? Shouldn't you be sick or something? Start acting ill before I send you back to class..." Most of them suddenly seemed overcome with a cough or dizzy spell. Fakers. She smirked and turned, leaving the infirmary and her gifts behind. Poor Ana...
((I just edited it but I didn't change anything... I just noticed that I spelled 'read' wrong and... I dunno. I'm a perfectionist. Ignore me, lol))

Ana awoke with a start. She'd fallen asleep on the damn paperwork again. And this time she had dreamed she was in her first year at school again, and it had been her last game. Her first season of Quidditch at school her team had been undefeated. Ana had dreamed they had lost their last game, even though she knew in her mind they had kicked the other team's ass better than it had ever been kicked before.
She stood up and stretched, her small body aching. She yawned, still quite tired. Ana looked at the clock on her wall, and her eyes drooped once she realized it was two thirty in the morning. She trudged to her door, getting ready to shut the usually open doors of the Wing for the night. She opened her office door and a package fell to her feet with a resounding thud. Ana winced and picked the package up, placing it safely in her arms as she shut the doors, closed the blinds, and tucked her patients in for the night.
Quietly, as to not wake anyone, she went to her room and shut the door. She sat on her bed and turned on the lamp, pulling out the small note that had come attached to the package. Ana opened the note, curious as to who could have possibly given her a present. Before reading the note, she scanned the signature and smiled as she saw Carma's name. Carma should of known by now she owed her nothing. But Ana read the note, her smile growing as she read it. What she had done for Carma was nothing she wouldn't of done for anyone else. With a small sigh, she set the note on her nightstand and slowly unrapped the gift, grinning happily as she saw her favorite type of book: a book that had to do with Quidditch. Still grinning, she began to read the book, hungrily absorbing its words. Ana mentally told herself to go see Carma first thing in the morning and thank her. Finally, two hours later, ana drifted off to sleep.

((okay guys, just so you know I will NOT be on the rest of the night nor tomorrow. Tonight is homecoming, and some friends are coming over afterwards. Tomorrow, they'll be spending the day with me. So please don't post a bunch in the Hospital Wing tonight! Thanks! Love, Ana (Lauren)))
