It was a sunny September day at Hogwarts, perfect for some studying out on the lawns. Evelyn hummed happily to herself as she hugged the books she was carrying to her chest, finding herself a nice dry spot to sit down and start her studies. She sat the books down next to her and laid down on her stomach, picking up her potions book and flipping it open. Potions had been her worst subject in the previous term, therefore she wanted to get a jump start this term and hopefully see at least a bit of improvement in her abilities. Her dad had bought her a book called Potions for Dummies as a joke, and it was currently sitting under her bed in her dormitory - halfway finished.
Pulling out a scroll of parchment, Evelyn used one of her other books to lean on so that she could scribble down anything important or interesting that she came across. She had a pretty good list going when the wind picked up, scooping her parchment up and carrying it across the lawns. "Hey, come back here!" she shouted, pushing herself up off of the ground and chasing after the piece of paper. She didn't realize that she was running towards the whomping willow until she saw the tree swat her parchment out of the air and tear it to pieces.
Evelyn's eyes widened and she ran backwards as quickly as she could, lest her fate be the same as her carefully taken notes. The good news was that she was far out of the willow's reach, the bad news that in her haste she didn't see where she was going and tripped backwards over a rock. The cry she let out was disproportionally larger than the small scrape the collision with the ground left on her arm. Evelyn was, occasionally, a bit of a drama queen.

Britton was walking around the grounds enjoying the first day of his weekend thinking of how wonderful it was being at hogwarts. He knew he needed to write mum and dad back so he started walking back to the castle when he saw Evie, a new friend of his, trip over a rock and scrape herself.
"Are you ok?" ased Britton as he ran over to check on how she was doing. "Hey this is a magical campus you, need to watch out for those moving rocks." joked Britton as he extended his hand to help Evie up.

Evie had probably been conditioned to cry anytime she got hurt because it meant that her dad would shower her with cookies and ice cream, no matter how minor the injury. So, with tears in her eyes she looked up at Britton and nodded her head sadly, pulling her elbow up in front of her so she could look at the damage. "Oh my god, I'm bleeding!" she wailed, completely missing his joke and offer for help up in her misery. It was true, a tiny little droplet of blood was forming right where she'd broken the skin, but any normal person would just brush it off and be done with it. One day she was going to be embarrassed by her over-dramatic habit...but not today.
"Do you have a band aid?" she asked, wiping some tears away from her eyes with her good arm. It would be a whole new catastrophe if the blood dripped onto her dress, tainting it forever.

Britton smiled and saw all Evie had was a little scrape on her elbow. He knew she would be ok. Britton himself had gotten many of them himself. There was no reason to cry about it. "Why are you crying?" Asked Britton. "Does it really hurt that bad. Is there an internal injery? Maybe we should take you to the hospital wing." Britton said before she asked him for a band aid. "Well no, not with me... but i believe i can find one though." He said then conjured up a band aid and one came flying up from a tall tower in the castle. The hospital wing. "Here you go!" He said handing Evie the band aid.

"No! No hospital wing, I'm fine," Evelyn said, shaking her head and taking the band-aid from him with a smile. Making sure that it was covering the whole injury, she stuck the band aid on and gave her arm a pat. "Thank you." She smiled again and wiped her eyes, sniffling a little as she tried to clean herself up. Band-aids were miracle cures where cookies and ice cream were unavailable. Still, maybe she'd try to use this as an excuse to get her dad to tell her how to find the kitchens. "So what brings you out here?"

Britton was releaved to hear her say she didnt need to go to the hospital wing. He knew that Evie was being a drama queen. Thats why ge suggested the hospital wing earlier. Britton himself used the same tactics not but two years ago but finally grew out of it.
"Well as a matter of fact, I was actually in my way to the owlery to send a letter to my parents, but then i saw you trip and fall and came over to check in you. Thats what good friends do." He said with a big cheesy smile on his face.
He was really glad to have made new friends this early into the school year. Back at Beaubatrons it was quite hard to make friends alot of the students there, mostly girls, were snobby and rude. Finally in his second year there he met a girl named Jaquie, who was tge equivalant as a first year here at hogwarts when he was a second year. "So what were you doing out here yourself?" He asked her as he started to notice tge whomping willow begin to get angry and start to make itsrlf sway enough to soon whomp on them.

"I'm so lucky to have a friend like you," Evie said, returning his cheesy smile and then sticking out her tongue at him. "We can walk up to the owlery if you want, I don't want to keep you from anything." She looked up at the castle, thinking that she should probably send a letter to her dad herself. It'd been what, two days since she'd written one? He would surely be missing her by now.
Evie glanced at the whomping willow before she began to answer his question, a little worried at the fact that it seemed to be winding up for the big hit. Perhaps they'd been too close for too long and it felt like it was being taunted. "Well, even if we're not going to the owlery...lets walk," she mumbled, linking arms with the boy and pulling him in the opposite direction of the tree. "I was out here studying since it's so nice out and all.,but oh! I forgot my book, where did I leave it." Her brows furrowed with worry as she looked around, squinting in the distance to see if she could see where her study spot had been before the wind stole away her parchment.
"I think it's over there," she said, mostly to herself, walking towards her chosen spot as she continued to drag Britton along with her. "Sorry, I promise we'll go wherever you want to go next. I just can't leave my potions book out here, I'll be so lost in class without it." She sighed and continued to scan the area for evidence of her abandoned belongings. "Do you see anything?" she asked, wondering if he could see better since he was a bit taller than her. "There was a brown bag and some books. And probably an imprint of me laying in the grass."

Britton waited for her answer before she linked arms with him and dragged him away from the tree that was about to collape, upon them. "Where are we...UMPH" was all Britton could get out before he was dragged.
"Well I would really like to be sending my letter and so would you." He said before she told she was studying her potions. "Ehhh i am not to fond of potions myself. Its quite drool." He replied back to her. The next moment he heatd her ask where she had left her stuff.
He began looking around the whomping willow area until he did find her stuff flat as play dough. "Its right there! And the, tree has it!!!" He yelled as the tree continued to whomp at her stuff before sliding it under a passage way below the tree roots.

"Well I don't particularly like it either, but I'm awful at it so I need to study," Evie said, sighing and cursing her father for not passing along his potions prowess to her. At least she was good at charms, those were the most useful part of magic anyway.
Evie jumped as Britton started shouting, looking around as she realized that it was because he had found her things. "Oh no!" she cried, her lip quivering slightly as she watched her things be murdered by the tree. Stupid tree, what did she ever do to it?
"I guess we can go up to the owlery now then," she said with a dejected sigh, turning her back on the tree and dragging Britton towards the school.

Britton had felt her drag him back towards the school. He turned back towards the tree. "No lets go have an adventure. Not only to get your book, but also to see where that passage way goes." He said as he neared the tree again, which seemed to be getting irritated because britton decided tio go back near it.
Britton ran back up to the tree quiclky and slid into the pasage way before the tree had time to hit him. He looked back at evie and said "come on!" With a big smile.

Evie hadn't noticed the passageway before, so she thought the boy was hallucinating when he said something about finding where it went. "Where are you going? You're going to get hurt!" she groaned as he slipped away from her, stomping angrily behind him as he neared the tree. Did he want to meet the same fate as her potions textbook? It seemed that the tree was only getting warmed up, flailing around even more than he had been earlier.
Evie stopped as she felt that they were too close to the tree, but Britton kept going. He was going to be a pancake in mere minutes. "Britton, you get back here right now! Do you think I want to be scraping you off of the ground! What in Merlin's name--" she stopped, her eyes widening as he actually slid under the tree. And he was alive! She squinted her eyes as she heard him yell and saw that he had made it into, what do you know, an actual passageway.
Well, now that it was real she supposed it was alright to risk her life trying to get under there. "I'm coming, I'm coming!" she squeaked, poising herself to sprint towards the tree whenever the opportune moment came around. When the tree became distracted with a bird that had flown into it on the opposite side, she decided that it was as good a time as any and ran with all of her might towards the spot that Britton was hiding. She was halfway there when the tree became tired of the bird and turned to her, so she dove towards the passageway and covered her head, emerging very dirty but in one piece otherwise.
"There'd better be an easier way to get out of here," she told Britton, breathing heavily as she tried to brush some of the dirt off of her dress.

Britton had herd her yelling at him as he had taken his dive into the passage way. He looked out and saw that Evie was getting ready to take her plunge into it as well. He was ready to come and save her at any minute if her dive had gone wrong. Luckily she had made it safe and sound thanks to a petrified bird that flew into the tree to keeep it busy.
He smiled at her and helped her dust off herself as he responded to her question. "Of couse tgere is a way out of here that we wont have to do yhat again...i think. Im sure this passage way leads out somwhere." He said as he took out his wand and said 'lumous' which made the tip of his wand glow and light up the passage way. He saw a little ways down the passage way her studying materials. "Come on Evie i see your stuff!" He began to walk towards her studying materials.

Madeline had finally finished her report and had gotten approval from the Ministry to post her decree regarding the Whomping Willow. The situation that occurred here during the earlier part of the month was unacceptable and since a child was still at St. Mungo's hospital because of his wounds, that were inflicted by this particular tree, actions needed to be taken. As she walked, Madeline noticed the rubbish that was thrown haphazardly all around the area which was considered a well safe distance from the tree. "Inexcusable," she muttered while flicking her wand at each piece of the torn up parchment and saw them all burn into ashes. Since, at least from what Madeline could see, there were no students or living creatures around the Whomping Willow. Taking her wand, Madeline formed a large circle in the air. A stream of bright lavender came from her wand and made a large ring surrounding the tree. A fence, which seemed to be at least 20 feet high, was now surrounding the Whomping Willow. The fence itself was a good distance away from the tree at all areas. Madeline did not want the Willow to destroy her fence after all, what good would become of such an event? More students getting hurt was unacceptable. "Perfect, no one can now go near this horrid tree," she said happily to herself before flicking her wand at the fence, allowing for the Ministry decree to be seen by all: Ministry of Magic Decree #924
By order of the Ministry of Magic, the Whomping Willow is hereby ordered to be considered forbidden territory for all students and staff of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Anyone found within 200 yards of the Whomping Willow will be reprimanded as deemed necessary by the Ministry of Magic.
The Whomping Willow is currently being considered by the Ministry of Magic to be removed from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and destroyed immediately.
A hearing will be set for Wednesday, October 10 in regards to the removal of the Whomping Willow at Hogwarts. After completing her task, Madeline smiled while rereading the decree and making sure everything was in place...

It was too bad the woman from the ministry couldn't have arrived sooner, saving Evelyn from all of this mess. Now that they were already through the passageway she had resolved to find an alternate way out of here to avoid another altercation with that horrid tree. "I bet it's somewhere good," she said after Britton said that the passageway had to lead somewhere, nodding her head with excitement. "I mean, why else would they put such a dangerous thing here to guard it?" She grinned as she imagined what might be at the end of this tunnel, glancing back at the opening they had entered through before traipsing ahead with Britton.
Following his lead, Evie lit the tip of her wand and walked along side him. She clapped her hands and hurried ahead as she too spotted her things, gathering them up as she reached them and stuffing everything into her bag. It was all a bit mangled, her emergency cookies completely crushed to bits, but at least she had found them. "Yay! Thanks for the help," she said with a smile, standing up straight again and slinging her bag over her shoulder. "And we're off again!" She held her wand out in front of her and walked ahead, squinting her eyes to see if there was anything distinguishable ahead to no avail.

As Britton continued to walk he heard footsteps coming from the outside the passage way. 'Oh great now were caught' he said as he went back towards the passage way to see who it was.
He saw an older woman. Probably a staff member... nope it was a mininistry worker coming out to plan for the removal of the whomping willow. He ran back deeper into the passage way to catch back up to evie who continued walking down the passageway.
Britton kept walking down the passageway there seemed to be no end in sight that was until he was met with what looked like a trapdoor above them. He opened the door jumped up and landed in what seemed like a really old house the shreeking shack.....
