Barricaded in the empty break room, Bennet took a deep breath and bolted the door. Hanging on the doorknob was a small sign 'closed for renovations, use downstairs staff room', all the better for his privacy. For the better part of the day he had been here, and the results were beginning to show. His shift had ended hours ago, and having begun the previous evening after eight, he was in bad need of a shave. Bristly, and red eyed, with his hair standing on end from running his hands through it in frustration, (except for his work clothes) he began to resemble someone waiting test results, rather than an actual staff member. The room itself was not in much better condition.
Sections of newspaper were scattered across every table. Maps were tacked to each wall, and dotted with glowing pinpricks, marking the shortest path from select area to area. He paced while drinking a cheap coffee with one hand, reading silently from the obituary from the newspaper held in the other, unmindful of his lips moving.
The newspapers were varied, some were wizarding editions, such as the Prophet, others were muggle papers, many from London but others arrived from other destinations, but none so far had passed England's borders. Depending on whether or not Bennet found anything of interest, that might change.
Shepard Haggis, 42, (HB), son of Lydia and Merle...
Frowning, he drew a line through it with black marker and continued to the next section.
Muriel Osgood, 73, (M), mother of Anthony, death determined to be natural causes. Interred at M. Snerd Funeral Home, to be buried at Our Lady of Perpetual Agony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lily Potter muggleborn Scholarship Fund.
There was more, but he didn't bother to read it. He tore it out and began make more marks on his map, specifically the cemetery, and pinned the clipping among all the others attached to the bulletin board.
