"Happy birthday, Emily!" "Yeah, happy birthday!"
Her family said in a cheer as they gathered around the twenty-something year old, smiling down at her. She, however, was being a party pooper. And why? Because they didn't get her a cake. If you knew Emily, she loved cake. And the only thing she had wanted this birthday was an Apple Spice Cake. Her stomach grumbled at the thought. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey look, I'm going into town, need to do errands. You want anything?" Her mother and little brother looked shocked. "But Emily, it's your birthday!" Emily shrugged. "It happens, I'm outta -" Before she could continue her sentence, she threw ashes into the fireplace and floo-powdered herself right on out of there. Oh the nerve of her own family! No apple spice cake?! She'd show them. Falling in soot in the fireplace of a London bakery, she stood up with much ash on her cheekbones, and a smile that screamed 'I'M A LOON'. "Aye! You guys got any apple spice in this joint?!" So much for discreet wizardry.

As Shawn wandered around London, trying to kill some time with shopping, his stomach began to growl and he remembered that he hadn't eaten breakfast that morning.. or lunch, or anything. Scrunching up his nose, he looked around and saw a few restaurants, but nothing really caught his eye until he spotted a bakery. Because sweets were obviously the best thing to eat if you haven't eaten anything all day, he quickly made his way down the crowded street and pushed his way into the shop. He smiled dreamily as the smell of the shop hit him, not having been in a bakery in years. Usually if he was looking for some baked goods he'd go to the kitchens and make something himself, or turn to his secret cookie stash that had been running a little dry recently. After he got over the yummy smell, he tried to decide what he wanted with much difficulty. His thoughts of just getting one of everything were disturbed when he heard a vaguely familiar voice from the other side of the little shop. Wondering who that could be, he turned his head and when his eyes landed on Emily, he thought he was seeing a ghost. "EMILY COHENNN!" he screeched, adding to the disturbance that she had probably caused. He ran the short distance over to her and gave her an almost bone-crushing hug. This would be a little awkward if she didn't remember him.

The bakery scene was a little awkward, admittedly. There was already many people, a bit of a line, and there pops out a girl with ash on her face screaming for cake. Well you know how the saying goes, right? It's my party & i'll cry if I want to. Well, it was a true statement. Or atleast in Emily's mindset. As the baker looked at Emily with a confused, slightly peeved fixation, Emily heard a call. "EMILY COHENNN!" Emily turned with a jerk, craning her head over the crowd. Could it be? Shawn Myers?! How could she ever forget him? And soon enough, as he ran to her, she ran to him, enveloping in a painful yet warm hug. It had been too long. "SHAWN FREAKING MYERS!" Emily squealed with delight as she finally let go. Glancing back at the food counter where she spotted a cake, she hesitated and grabbed the cake and bolted, taking Shawn's hand and rushing him out of the bakery before the baker would believe what had just happened. "Oh my gosh, I've missed you so much! What have you been up to?!" She then glanced at the cake. Okay, she could share a little. "Want some of my birthday cake?"

Oh good, she wasn't asking him who he was. That was a good sign. He grinned as he hugged her back, unable to recall the last time he had seen the girl. He, being extra paranoid lately, would have questioned her to make sure she was really Miss Emily Cohen, but when she stole the cake and pulled him out of the store.. well, only the real Emily would do that and that was enough proof for him. He giggled as he followed her out of the store, though he felt a little bad for stealing the cake even though technically it wasn't him stealing it. Maybe he'd stop in later and 'accidentally' drop some money on the counter. "I missed you too, butthead!" His voice came out in a squeak as he was incredibly excited to be seeing his old friend. "Ohh, nothing too interesting. I taught this term! But now it's summer and I'm back to being bored all the time.." He sighed and shrugged, glad he had been bored enough to come here today or else he wouldn't have seen her. "Birthday cake? It's your birthday?! Aww, happy birthday," he said, glancing down at the cake, slightly surprised she was offering to share it. "Hmm, if you don't mind, I'd love some."

Emily didn't really feel bad for stealing the cake, considering she was kind of born with always stealing one thing or another. So, it was almost like a secondary personality trait. Hoorah! "I missed you too, butthead!" Emily bellowed in a laugh as she wrapped her arm around his head in a lock and ruffled her hand in his hair, smirking mischeviously. "Ohh, nothing too interesting. I taught this term! But now it's summer and I'm back to being bored all the time.." Emily let go, seeing his hair with a smile that was simply proud. "Wow, that's awesome Shawn! So what did you teach the ickles?" Emily obviously couldn't compare, but hey, being Gameskeeper certainely had its perks. "Birthday cake? It's your birthday?! Aww, happy birthday," She bowed. "Thank you! I'll be expecting a present from you later though.." She said with a wink and then looked at him once, seeing as he wanted a piece. Maybe with age comes kindness and the ability to share? "Here ya go!" She said as she playfully threw some of it at Shawn, smearing it in his face. Okay, maybe age had nothing to do with Emily Cohen whatsoever. "Man, I sure did miss ya."

Shawn squeaked as Emily put him in a headlock, messing up his hair like everyone used to do to him. No one had dared to touch his hair in a while, though that was probably because he no longer complained about it. He was giggling too much to complain about it now, and there wasn't much to complain about as it would just fall back into place once he ran a hand through it. He didn't know why he used to complain so much, he supposed he had just been a whiney kid. "Umm, I taught Care of Magical Creatures," he replied, nodding his head and grinning, proud of himself for actually getting a job and not being a lazy bum for at least one term. "A present, hmm? I think that can be arranged. But maybe you should pick it out, so I don't have to go through the agony of trying to find something you'll like." He giggled, though he could probably buy her a basket of muffins and she'd be happy. He wasn't ready to be attacked with cake, so when she smeared it in his face he squeaked loudly and then glared playfully at her once he got over the shock. Instead of stealing some and throwing it back at her, he just licked what he could reach off of his face and grinned. "Well, it tastes good," he confirmed, sticking his tongue out at her. "I missed you more."

Messing with a guy's hair? It could either be dangerous or it could be the best thing you could do. Emily, however, had no conscience when it came to those things, and she more of acted on impulses. Thus, the ruffling of Shawn's hair. However he had the tendency to get aggitated, but Emily had the feeling that they were both too giddy and happy to care. "Umm, I taught Care of Magical Creatures," He said, as Emily widened her eyes. "Wow, nice! I always loved the class.. it was one of the easiest." She said with a giggle followed by a wink. Oh Em. But then she nodded in agreement to the present idea. "Well, normally I loveee surprises..." She then glanced at him, "But my birthday doesn't mix with agony, so I'll help you avoid it all together!" She said with triumph. "Well, it tastes good," Emily stuck her tongue back out at him and dug into the cake, a lot of the frosting on her cheeks, mixing with soot. Lovelyy.. "Of course it does! It's apple and cake.. together.." She said inbetween her chews of the cake in an obnoxious manner. "O'course, if we made a muffin apple cake.. we'd be rich. So rich. With galleons AND happiness mind you." She said with a determined grin.

"Yeees, it was pretty easy to teach too. I had fun," Shawn said, nodding his head and grinning at her. He couldn't actually remember if he'd taken the class as a student, to be honest. All those years of taking classes kind of blurred together and he got confused as to which ones he had taken and in which years and blahh. "Aww, good! Because now you can get a present you actually like, so we both win!" He clapped his hands and giggled, then adding, "I'll surprise you some other time. When it's not your birthday so you won't even be expecting it!" Hopefully she'd forget that he mentioned that if he actually went through with it, maybe he shouldn't have revealed his plan just yet. "Mm, well I love both of those." He smiled and finished cleaning what he could off of his face, then stole a little more. "Muffin apple cake.. we should try making one sometime. I can't promise it won't end up turning into a monster cake, though.." He giggled at the thought as he remembered Maddie telling him about the monster cake she had made.

"That's great! Are you teaching it again this next term? If so I'd love to observe, while.. uh.. doing my job I suppose. We're right next door to one another, now that I think about it." Emily grinned. "Aww, good! Because now you can get a present you actually like, so we both win!" Emily giggled and clapped her hands with him. "Well it always feels good to win, buddy ole' pal." Suddenly, the next thing he said made her eyebrows raise in interest. "I'll surprise you some other time. When it's not your birthday so you won't even be expecting it!" Yes, yes, yes. Emily smiled even wider, if possible. "Woohoo! I can't wait!" She smirked as she leaned against the wall of the London alley way where they had run to and dug into the cake some more. "Muffin apple cake.. we should try making one sometime. I can't promise it won't end up turning into a monster cake, though.." Emily then got an idea. "Shawn! I know what I want for my birthday!" She then tugged on his arm and linked her arm through his in a formal manner, as if they were a formal comradeship strolling through the lawns of Buckingham Palace. When, in all actuality, they were cake stealing wizarding goofs. Same difference. "Let's make a huge cake, and not just any kind of cake, but the first muffin apple cake. It's ingenious! It will last forever, and we can even have a party in celebration of its presence. Oh, it would be the best birthday gift a girl could ever have." Emily gushed, with pure excitement about the project at hand.

"Noo, I'm actually not going to. I'm just going to substitute I think," Shawn replied, scrunching up his nose and shrugging his shoulders. "But I'll give you a heads up if I ever have to sub if you still want to observe." He giggled and nodded his head, he would love it if someone other than creepy Nicky would visit his classes. "Of course it does. Especially when no one loses either!" He grinned and clapped his hands together lightly. "Wohoo, now forget I said anything about it. You need to be extra surprised." He poked her and then took a little more of the cake too. Hearing that she had an idea he smiled, squeaking as she tugged at his arm and made them link their arms together. He didn't have long to wonder what this idea was before she was telling him excitedly, and he thought it sounded like an amazinggg idea. "That sounds fun!" he squeaked, imagining the giant cake and how yummy it would inevitably be. Come on, muffins, apples, AND cake? There was no way the cake wouldn't be anything short of spectacular.

Emily shrugged. "That's still pretty cool." She nodded, slightly jealous. Teaching would have been fun, but then again, she was a huge flake, so maybe that wouldn't have been good for the ickle's education. She then looked up, happy that he offered that she could still visit. "Really? Aw that'd be great. I'd love to see you at work. I'd.. pretend to work.. but kind of give the creepy ole' stare off the children." She cackled evily at the idea. "Wohoo, now forget I said anything about it. You need to be extra surprised." She nodded as she took her wand and pointed it at her head. "Righto!" She nodded as she closed her eyes for a moment. Hopefully, her reason for this, was to forget that he wanted to give her a surprise. In which, it worked. Ravenclaw alumnis never got rusty.
Grinning, she stuffed her wand back in her pocket and poked Shawn right on back, licking her lips that had remaining apple cake as an extra layer. But as they walked, it was much more fun to plan. "Okay, well, we need a big kitchen, so it's definitely a no no at my house. Can your kitchen handle the intensity of the cake?" She then added in, "Oh yes! And we'll need the ingrediants. Plenty of the ingrediants." She then grinned again. Her mind was back on stealing. Oh great.

"Yeeea, whatever keeps me from sitting around like a bum for the rest of my life," Shawn said giggling and shrugging his shoulders, he was already dying of boredom due to the fact that it was summer and there wasn't really anything to do. He'd already reached his boredom quotient from those million years he'd sat around moping after he graduated. "Hmm, maybe they'd behave with you there staring at them. I bet that'd be pretty intimidating, unlike.. well, me." He sighed and shook his head, grinning lightly. He didn't think anyone ever took him seriously, but that was probably because he could never take himself seriously. Watching as she took out her wand and pointed at herself, Shawn tilted his head. He hoped she wasn't about to blast her face off, or something. Was he that boring?
When she had put her wand back in her pocket he laughed and shook his head, unsure of what she had done but deciding not to ask. "Umm, my kitchen is a mess. And no, it probably couldn't handle the awesomeness of that cake. I was thinking the school kitchens." He smiled and nodded, that being the biggest kitchen he could think of. He didn't think he'd ever seen a bigger one. "The school kitchens would probably have the ingredients tooo, I bet.." He laughed, wondering what kind of ingredients they would need for such a cake.

"Yeeea, whatever keeps me from sitting around like a bum for the rest of my life," Emily giggled with him in agreement. "Right there with you buddy. I have never missed classes and homework more than the third year after I graduated. It all got very boring after that." She replied, speaking from much experiance. Traveling was the only thing that kept her sane and preventing insanity with boredom. She then poked him in the side, shaking her head. "You, Shawn Myers, can be very intimidating. Lemme see you growl, babay." Emily said, now in a high class photographer voice, as if he was the subject of her picture. She then giggled afterwards, which had been a habit lately. Lately being her whole life.
She then jumped up with excitement. "Ah yes! The school kitchens, of course! You're brilliant, Shawn. Simply brilliant!" Emily grinned, playfully kissing him on the forehead as if he was her son that just aced his report card. "The school kitchens would probably have the ingredients tooo, I bet.." Emily nodded. They sure did, and after being in that castle for most of her life, she felt almost ashamed she didn't think of that before. "They sure do. Shall we go?" Emily grinned, ready to just snap her fingers and appear in the kitchens. Oh the joys of being an adult wizard out in the big bad world.

"I know! Life without school is so boring," Shawn said, a whiney undertone to his voice as he complained like he always was. "I wish I would have known that so I could have gotten held back a few years, or something." He giggled and sighed, shaking his head lightly. He missed taking classes, and even though he had taught one this term it wasn't really the same. He was kind of behind on the actual performing of spells and stuff, since he hadn't needed to use many of them since he left school. He was a pro at cleaning and summoning charms, though. Shawn tried to stifle a snort as she claimed that he was intimidating, which was probably the farthest thing from the truth.. ever. When she told him to growl, he couldn't stop himself from laughing. If he hadn't been laughing so much he probably would have attempted a growl, but alas, he couldn't manage even an attempt while he laughed.
Shawn grinned as she told him that he was brilliant, that probably being the first time he'd ever heard that from someone who wasn't himself. Not that he sat around telling himself that he was brilliant all the time, or anything. "Well, it wasn't very hard to think of, since I've pretty much lived down there for like, ever.." He shrugged his shoulders, remember all the lovely adventures he'd had in this kitchens. And all the lovely cookies that he made in the kitchens. "Yes we shall!" he said excitedly, turning on his heel and walking in the direction that he believed the castle to be in, not thinking about this.. snapping of fingers and poofing there business.
