Kat wandered into St. Mungo's. She didn't really want to come, but she thought it would be best if she got checked out with everything that was going on. Either her new animagi form was going screwy or something else was going on. Neither one seemed too appealing to her right now.
She walked around until she found an empty room and took a seat on the bed, waiting for one of the doctors to come in and see her.
She took the time to think about everything that seemed to be going wrong. She had started having problems with patches of tiger fur appearing since mid-May and she had been suffering from severe depression and hysteria and other mood swings since about then.
She got up off the bed and peered out the door. "Hello? Anyone here?"

Bennet groaned and looked around the nurses' station to see if anyone was available. The head nurse on duty gave him a warning glare and handed him a stack of forms and a clipboard and sent him on his way. He wanted to object, but her glare said it all and he knew it would be useless to protest. After all, she outranked him when it came to the other nurses. And she was built like a Mack truck.
He staggered under the weight of the forms, and stepped into the examining room where Kat was. "Good evening young lady. I'm guessing this isn't a life threatening emergency since you are sitting here so calmly, yes?" not waiting for her to answer, he held up a sheath of papers and smiled charmingly. "Have you filled out your sheets yet? This one is medical history, this one is insurance information...this one is about allergies...this one is family history..." he began stacking papers one by one on the table.
"Unless of course you already have been treated here, in which case you only need to update in the blank spots before we begin treatment..." he shuffled the papers into a neat pile and laid them next to her along with a quill. "Now what seems to be the problem today?"

Kat's eyes widened when she saw the paperwork that she had to fill out. She grimaced because she didn't know about her insurance or a lot about the family history.
"No, I haven't filled out the papers yet, but I'm wishing I knew more than what I did now. And no, it's not life-threatening. Just having some problems that are beginning to be a nuisance," she said with a small smile.
She took the paperwork and started to fill it out to the best of her ability. She ended up leaving several spots empty. "There's a lot of stuff that I don't know about with my family history and insurance information. I know I have it, but I'm not sure what kind," she told him. Allergies...the only ones that she knew of was two Muggle medicines: penicillin and xanax. Medical history...she hadn't had any problems to actually have a medical history.
When she was done with the paperwork, she handed the stack back to him. "What seems to be the problem is that I've been feeling severely depressed since about March," she hesitated before saying the next part. "And since early April, I've been having small patches of white tiger fur appear on my arms and legs. I thought it was my Animagi form going screwy, but I hadn't learned how to transform into it yet," she said softly.

He made a hmmm sound a few times, and made some notes on a chart while she talked. When it looked like she finished with the papers he scooped them up and bound them together in a folder, and leaned into the hallway to hail a passing intern, to whom he passed the paperwork and sent them to administration to file them before coming back to Kat.
Sitting next to her, he asked, "May I?" and without waiting for a response, he reached for her hand and began examining it, turning her arm over and looking closely without touching any of the affected areas.
"Based on my observations, I can prescribe a cream that will remove the unwanted hair, but that's merely a stopgap measure. The real issue seems to be your animagus form. Are you actually attempting to change into a form when this happens? Are you in class when it happens? Or is this something spontaneous, apart from class?" he wrote a prescription on a pad, and tore it off, while waiting for a reply. He had a strong idea of what her answers would be, but wanted confirmation before giving her the proper course of action, or before contacting anyone else to study this.

Kat shook her head at the doctor's questions.
"This started before I started trying to change. It seems like the more upset I get, the more it happens. Whenever my emotions go to the extreme of either a depressed phase or a somewhat manic/hysteric phase, the patches get bigger and I have more of them" she said with a confused look on her face.
Well, at least she would be getting a solution to get rid of the unwanted fur. That would at least make her feel better and not like some strange creature. "I guess I need to check into my family history to find out if there is anything...abnormal."

Bennet was more confused than ever. Her answers followed a completely different train than what he had anticipated, and in fact he had never heard of such a thing. He struggled to think of any similar cases, but none came to mind, not even textbook cases. In the back of his mind, he considered keeping her in mind for a research project, but dismissed it right away. She was still a minor, and it would put his career at risk, and possibly bring to light a much larger project that he couldn't afford to bring attention to.
"I admit I'm at a loss, Miss. The only thing I feel qualified to say is, you under no circumstances are to practice any type of magic unsupervised. Since this is a magical illness, you don't know what will provoke these attacks. If left unchecked, this could develop into something more serious. If you plan on taking animagus classes this term, again, do not attempt to practice outside of the professor's direct supervision. In the event of another attack, simply have that filled again, either at the school's hospital wing, or have your family stop by here. I expect you here next week for a follow up, sooner if another attack occurs. There isn't much else I can do for you until I receive the paperwork regarding family history, insurance, and the like" he paused and took a deep breath, and held her gaze firmly to guarantee she got the full effect of his instructions.
"Now remember what I said. NO magic outside of class. Take animagus classes, and only practice with your professor present. And return for your follow up, and for further treatment."

Kat nodded at his words. This was beginning to worry her. "I won't be taking animagus classes this term because I took them last term. That's why I thought maybe my animal form was just going screwy," she said with small grimace.
She didn't like the idea of visiting the doctor repeatedly, but if it helped her situation, then so be it. She was getting ready to get up to leave when she remembered something. "Is there anything that you know of that could be affecting people whose animagus form is a tiger? Back before the last term started up, Professor Garrison had similar problems, except his tiger form took over completely," she said with a questioning look. "I will make sure I look thoroughly through my family history and start asking questions of my family and bring what I find out to my next appointment here," she said with a small sigh.
Well, at least there would be no chance that Kat would get in trouble for performing spells outside of the classroom now since she couldn't perform magic outside of class and professor supervision. "Thank you for your help today. I'm sorry I'm not more of a simple case," she said with a small smile, trying to add some humor into the situation.

"I don't know of Elessar Garrison. If he received treatment here, it was with someone else. I find it very disturbing that you passed an animagus class and still have this level of difficulty with control. I'm going to recommend you take it again, or at least have private lessons, and exhibit better control before you are registered. To be granted permission to change as you wish legally, yet still cause harm to yourself would be negligent of the ministry, and I would be remiss as a healer if I didn't at least warn you of the consequences. "

"I will look into taking the course again and find a professor to supervise me when I use magic outside of class," she said. The thought that she might not be able to be registered until she was able to control what was going on sort of bothered her.
She nodded her head as the doctor finished talking. "I will make sure I do everything you've told me and I'll come back next week for my follow up." With that being said she looked around. "Am I able to go?"
