Tallie steadied her breath and slowly but surely ventured towards the crowd of mourning peoples. Funerals were ever so ever, ever far from being her thing. They always made her so uncomfortable and always made her ever wondering mind wonder about her own death.
She was dressed in probably the only black outfit she owned. A knee length flowy dress. For once there wasn't even the smallest splatter of paint on her. an odd sight, but she figuired showering was one of those more required things when dressing to be respectful. She did have quit a few butterflies in her stomach. The kind that tended to make her sick but she ignored them.
Her mind scanned the past thinking back to ever single ego boosting word she's herd from the headmaster. Oh how scary he had seemed to her on her very first day at Hogwarts and how she had grown to respect and love him throught the years she attended the school. It seemed wierd to think about work and how he no longer resided over her....well actually he still did, just in a more abstract manner. It was odd to think the Yule Ball would be at loss of the headmaster's usual charm.
Tallie took a deep breath as she glanced over at Carma and the others. So many faces of devistation. So much said, yet unherd. She felt speechless. Oh how she wanted to talk, yet couldn't find the strenght or words to do so. Or so she thought. without even registering it her mouth seemed to run on its own...speaking of its own accord without Tallie's permission to do so "When you watch someone as great as the headmaster, even from afar, you learn alot. You learn that people can touch you, help you, change you, protect you, and influince you in the best possible way without even really trying to do so. Thats what the headmaster was effortlessly a wonderful man" her lips trembled slightly when she finished as a tear glided down her cheeck...she honestly never ment to say a single word.
Suddenly her mind drifted and wondered what one would say at her funeral...

Carma listened to everyone speak with a sad stare, nodding and smiling at the appropriate moments, such as when they went to return to their seats. She gave each speaker a friendly pat on the back, save for Abba. Carma was a little worried to see him approaching and her back immediately stiffened as she thought to where her wand was, but Abba did nothing strange aside from toss his sunglasses at her. Carma reluctantly caught them and watched his face while he spoke. She couldn't figure him out, but now that she was hearing him speak for himself, only feet away, Carma could see that glimmer of power in his eye. His comment barely fazed her - Carma knew she didn't deserve the position she'd been given so long ago - but what he said at the end did. 'You're either with me, or you're against me.' She returned his sunglasses, which were absolutely useless in the darkness of the forest, and watched Abba retreat, thinking differently to herself now... Carma had been quick to judge him for the Headmaster's death, Arri's disappearance, and had immediately thought he was after her as well... but what if they actually wanted the same things, Abba and herself? Carma frowned quietly to herself and watched the next speakers come forward, thinking more about Abba Faltskog now and less about the Headmaster, who she'd never cared much for anyway. It was possible that Abba was an ally rather than an enemy and they'd been confused... it was possible. "Thank you, Tallie." Carma smiled and gave her old friend a kiss on the cheek after she'd finished speaking. Stepping forward, Carma looked at the observers with a smile. "I'd like to take a few more speakers, please, if anyone has something to add." ((Gonna give you guys another hour or so longer to talk, then I'll start wrapping it up. If you wanna say something nice then say it now. ))

"Unless things change or new evidence is uncovered, I will most likely be resuming the open vacancy of Headmaster...." - abba
... in the meeaaaann tiiiiimmmmeee... *dark cloudhovers over the people* ... this school needs a master! *kelsey cackled, standing atop the tombstone. No other the the caretaker, she had already done the honors of painting the recent headmaster's portrait to hang in the office, that much resembled a stick figure impersonation. Given the time limit, that's all she found necessary.* see! I even have his written will, 'kelsey shall replace me whenever I should mysteriously disapear *it was indeed a valid signature... in what condition the headmaster had currently been in was of no interest... *coughcough* ... to anyone.

After speaking, Kelsey suddenly materialized behind her. Carma turned to stare at her, special effects and all, before giving her a wry grin and shaking her head. Oh, Kelsey, she certainly did know how to liven up a funeral… Leaving her to perch up there in her glory, Carma turned to the crowd and smiled. No one had anything else to say? Okay. For a moment she stood in silence, hands folded in front of her while they all absorbed what had been said in the old man's name. Each of the student's words had stirred emotion in her heart for the departed man. Perhaps Carma didn't like him very much when she had known him but, regardless, he had run this school and provided them all with the opportunities that put them here today.
With a kind smile, Carma looked at everyone who had come to offer their respects, observing each one of their faces and solemn glances. She threw Abba a fleeting glance where he stood in the back of the service, though it wasn’t so accusatory now… Carma was still considering what she’d heard from him a few moments ago. It was a shame he was leaning up against that tree still. She’d have to discuss his plans with him when he got out of the Hospital Wing. Smiling softly, she looked away from him and at the empty grass where a grave should have been. With her wand secure in her pocket and her heart starting to beat a little faster in her chest, Carma looked at the faces of her friends in the candlelight.
"If there is nothing left to say then it is time we say goodbye to our beloved Headmaster. Though little is known of his life, nor of the way in which he exited it, we can only wish him the best in the world that follows... Certainly, the Headmaster's name and all of his good deeds at this school will continue to ignite the power of learning in students for generations to come."

You're either with me or you're against me."
There was more to the man to hate after every second, Aaron decided, perhaps even far enough to declare him an enemy; being a target and being an enemy were two different things, after all. He stared at Abba, not knowing - or caring, really - if the words were directed toward everyone gathered or to anyone in particular, but it didn't matter -- his words affected Aaron enough, and he decided that the words would be intended for him regardless of Abba's motives.
Aaron listened to what everyone else had to say, not focusing on any one person but thinking about what they had to say. He still kept his words, held on to them -- he hated most people, but he still had respect for everyone as a human, even people he didn't know; such as the headmaster. Everyone had their beliefs, some people had the same beliefs as others, and a lot of people might look like outcasts compared to the words of someone else, but that didn't matter. At last, the services had come to an end.
"Certainly, the Headmaster's name and all of his good deeds at this school will ignite the power of learning in students for generations to come."
Aaron closed his dark eyes and bowed his head the way he had previously, fisted hands resting beneath his chin. To anyone, it looked like prayer. Even if you don't want to, he thought, a light frown appearing on his lips, you have to remember what it stands for. Everything has a reason. He bit down on his lip again, mercilessly and uncaring of the pain that ran through, and glanced very briefly at the tombstone before closing his eyes again.. It's now or never, Aaron.
He focused on flames, on candles and fireplaces and volcanoes, of fires in general. It wasn't too hard -- he's seen a lot of things, from experience and from books, and plenty of things could relate to fire. He then focused on the trees around everyone, focused on their shape, their size, their galore, and then attached them, fire on tree, a ring of fire on a ring of trees. And then focused harder, concetrated on making it happen, putting his powers to perhaps an ultimate test.
And then it happened. The trees around the clearing erupted into flames, all at once and without any explanation. That is, there was a clear explanation, but no one else would see or know of this explanation. Aaron's eyes were closed, he was praying -- how could he possibly have done it? Oh, but he had, and as long as know one else knew (except for two people in particular, that is) he would be fine. And indeed, know one else could possibly know.
Aaron opened his eyes as the smell of fire reached his nose; he had not intended on opening them until it had. He looked around at his work, a perfect ring of firey trees, and gave his best look of panic and shock; he was a very good actor, and so it wasn't difficult to make. He glanced briefly at the looks of panic and shock on other people's faces, first at the croud in the chairs and then Carma for a few long moments. He wasn't going to shout, "Fire! Fire!" because everyone else likely knew by now, and even if the fire had not been his own, he likely would not have screamed it aloud anyone.
At last, he looked away from the woman, back to the crowd of people, and stood up, realizing he had not planned his next move. But there was still more to be done, and hopefully, that which was responsible for it would hurry along with their part...

Post by Kiaro Matuchi on Aug 3, 2008 18:38:10 GMT -5
Kiaro didn’t want to make a scene when she arrived. She was quick and to the point, no lolly-gagging by the entrance and beside her, she gave Abba a swift, reproachful look and then continued forward, as if unfazed by this presence. She took a seat down, staring up at Carma as someone other than Carma spoke. Kiaro’s eyes were drawn to man wearing skimpy clothes, saying a thoughtful poem to them. Her eyes glanced to where Abba stood again and Kiaro’s eyes narrowed, as she saw Arri beside him, making a swift motion, but not enough to bring Abba with her.
It was sad to see. Students crying over one that they barely knew. Kiaro didn’t cry, and Kiaro didn’t even know the guy. The whole time she was here, he had never muttered a word to her. So she felt emotionless, looking at the grave of a man she didn’t even know. It was sad to hear of a death, no doubt, but it was easier to accept the death when you didn’t have any close connections with the victim. She glanced back to the back of the ceremony. People were flooding in, the ceremony having never officially “started” yet. She glanced at Kath timidly and nodded once. She had yet to talk to her since they were attacked by the dementors.
Finally, after all the spectators were able to contain themselves, Carma began. Kiaro listened to her words, breathing deeply, trying to figure them out.
He was like a father to us all
Was he? she thought incredulously, eyes widening as her face planted in her hands, trying to calm herself down. If she didn’t know the exact way he looked, his name.. How can a man so mysterious ever be considered their ‘fathers.’ Then Kiaro realized.. Fathers were all different. What about the man that leaves his wife when he figures out he’s a father? The irony in both situations was weird. In the end, you ended like this. You either ended with sadness, or in Kiaro’s current case, something bitter. Unforgivable. The fact that he was never there put it quite clearly. He didn’t even care. Honestly, Kiaro felt betrayed.
She listened, bewildered and unfocused, as student after student went up to the podium, said something. One girl whispered a touching poem, and Kiaro’s bewilderment picked up. She couldn’t believe this. She would not give him something. What had he given back to all of them? She pouted to herself, silently, in disbelief. But even Aaron went up there, and she felt a spark ignite under her bottom. A wash of anger flooded her. Not because of Aaron, but because of the situation. She stared up at Aaron, his words respectful and gracious. And then Abba. Announcing that he was headmaster, of course.
It was inevitable. She had not said anything that would have made sense to him. He thought she was confused, and she thought that right back about him. But she politely stared back at the final thought and a smirk formed over her lips, widening slightly as more students appealed to the headmaster. She heard Tallie’s words, Kelsey’s words, and a few others after. And then. Carma finally spoke the words. The words. The cue.
Kiaro took a deep breath at Carma’s words and looked up casually at the folks. She had practiced. Yes, practiced how she would act when the time came to actually act. She bowed her head mechanically and placed her head in the space in between her body and her hands. After her last words, Kiaro smirked at the wording and raised her head as everyone else did. Suddenly Kiaro sniffed the air and she could smell smoke. One faked terrifed look straight ahead and then a terrifed glance around to the people, Kiaro caught the terrified glances of the students, of Aaron, of Carma and rose to her feet in the scuffle to get to the clearning before it fell in too.
Very, very carefully, she imagined the same invisible self that she had done for a term before this one, and suddenly, she had to side step people so she didn’t get trampled. Her eyes were determined and focused on her target. A lone tree that hovered next to the path. As the woods around it shuddered with the fire, Kiaro raised her arms and stared at the tree, the one Abba was carefully pushed up against, her anger that was boiled up inside of her, being released. She whispered inaudibly, to herself, as her wand erupted and the spell hit the tree, right at the trunk.
As planned, the tree fell right in the place of the path. She didn’t even watch to see how Abba would react. The fire erupted and Kiaro turned to face the crowd, her eyes wide with determination. She was ready to be the person who would defend what they had created. Her eyes lingered on Carma’s and Aaron’s, simultaneously. Let the chaos begin.

Jadyn bowed her head when it was needed and appropriate. She sighed and frowned again, and closed her eyes, thinking about the words said. He sounded like a really brave man, Jadyn couldn't understand how someone could run the school, it was so big. So many things to take care of, especially the students and staff. He protected them. She bit her lip and opened her eyes after saying a short prayer, hoping somehow he'd come back. Jadyn looked at Abba, he was the new headmaster now..?
Jadyn shrugged, she really didn't know anything about him either. The funeral was nearing the end, she still held the candle and looked around at everyone, they looked sad. Except a few who showed no emotion at all. Some seemed frustrated. Jadyn felt a billion different emotions. But it would have been a lot worse if she knew him on a personal level, or had contact with him. Which she did not. But she still felt horrible and sad. It all ended. He was no longer around.
Then the last words were being said, everything was ending. She prayed once more, not knowing what to pray about. She never really went to a funeral, but somehow she was glad there was no body. She didn't want to see it. Or even think about it being there. She glanced over at a man, professor probably. He was weird acting, but she shrugged it off, and stood up. Then gasped at what she saw before her, flames. People running to get away. She stood there not sure of what to do, she felt like she couldn't move her legs, she didn't know what to do. But run. Flames were spreading quickly though..

Abba from his current location cast a few spells of his own which covered everyone in attendance and assured them protection until they could get further away from the area.

Malcolm walked to the headmasters memorial service with a rose and placed it on the gravestone. He then said "I wish i knew where you were Headmaster so i can bring you back so you can get a proper burial." and with that he faded back into the crowd.

Post by Arri Faltskog on Aug 3, 2008 19:06:03 GMT -5
Arri sat there quietly while listening to all the speeches. Her head did not move as her eyes continued to scan the crowds of the people coming and going, mostly to take their seats after speeches or giving a prayer to the tombstone. Her mind was slowly trying to process everything as she soon heard Abba's voice filling the area, her head lifting to look at him.
She listened to his speech as she heard Abba talking about the Headmaster and about a delay in the annoucements for the school's apparent new term. What term were they in anyway? Arri could not remember. She watched as he kept speaking and saying how he was going to step into the role as the new Headmaster of the school. Did this place have a headmistress? She could have sworn they did but maybe she was in mourning? Arri gave the older woman the benefit of the doubt, unless she had died months prior to the disappearance of the Headmaster and no one knew about it.
But then before she could realize what was going on, a burst of flames erupted around everyone. What was going on? Who had done this? she wondered as she suddenly stood up, seeing everyone looking to be in a fright as she looked around, as if instictively surveying the grounds like an authority would. Who was doing this? What was the meaning of this rudeness at a memorial service. Arri could not remember many people around here but she noticed a young woman standing there with a wand pointed toward a tree. And then she saw it. The tree, the same one that Abba was by, suddenly fell to the ground. A loud and high pitched shriek escaped her lips.

Late..late donna had been late to the headmaster funeral..this she truely regreated as the headmaster had been the greatest of friends to her. He had hired and taken her in to the school when everyone else had considered her an outcast even her own husband. Yes, she had owed the headmaster big time, and now of all things she had missed everyones speeches. As she made her way to pay respects, she smelt smoke, something or someone more to the point had saw fit to make a mockery out the service, this pissed her off a great deal more then other things happening recently, cept for arri's attack. "ENOUGH!" she yelled as she pulled out her wand to try and protect the students and the more vunerable staff."AQUAMENTI!"she said as she desperately tried to fight the flames.

Melissa hadn't been paying attention at first, her mind was wrapped around all of the recent changes...Headmaster gone...Abba now in charge...being a second year...new prefects...forest on fire...
Her head snapped up as she smelled smoke, and when a crack sounded, as sharp as lightning, destroying the tree, she screamed in almost perfect timing with Arri Faltskog. She wanted to run, but was in the middle of everything, where could she go? She stayed still, white faced and panicked, clutching Churro and Mori-sempai's hands, and breathing fast and shallow.
The teachers began taking action, and she breathed a little easier, but was still terrified, and wanted to get to the safety of the castle.

Only moments after Carma had spoke, fire erupted in her gaze. She'd known it was coming but it didn't stop her heart from suddenly racing within her chest like a wild horse as everyone reacted to the blaze. It wasn't hard to play along as Carma dropped her cards and, with wide eyes, grabbed her wand from the pocket of her skirt.
She cursed, watching Kiaro disapper and the tree fall over the path just moments later.
"Get away from the trees!" Carma shouted to ogling students, pushing them away from the blaze at the edges of the cemetery. Everyone was panicking - good. But they had to get their heads together and work their way out or else Carma would not be half as pleased with this as she'd expected. Already though, just the fact that it happened was a fabulous success.
"Expelliarmus," Carma barely moved her lips to say the hex, her wand subtly pointed at Donna's back where she was conjuring water in an effort to put out the flames.

Abba's safety spells were quickly broken as the tree he was standing aginst suddenly burst into flames and toppled over onto the spot where he was standing. This only caused the flames surrounding that area to grow larger and hotter. The standing figure of Abba could no longer by seen by the roaring flames. And based on the severity of the fire it would be some time before it could be determined if Abba survived.........
