Jessica turned sharply as someone slipped their hand into her own. "Torza!" she cried out, relieved to have a friend by her side. She clutched Torza's hand tightly, hearing a broken cry from her friend. Her heart was still pounding, waiting almost for ABBA to emerge from the trees. She hugged Torza to her as her friend cried, letting her have a shoulder to lean on. She searched the meadow, looking frantically for Malcolm as the thunder rolled above again.
She saw the flames brighten intensely for a minute, watching them with horror as they seemed to ignore the water. And then they died down again just as quickly. She swallowed hard, it felt as if her heart was stuck in her throat. "Me too," she whispered back, almost inaudibly, as Torza said she was scared. She moved a bit closer in to the group of students, huddling them closer together protectively, still clutching Torza's hand tightly, wanting that feeling of security to stay. Her heart jumped again as she saw Arri disappear in a sudden gap of flames, presumably safe on the other side.
Hearing as Carma spoke to Torza, Jessica turned to her friend. "I want to help somehow," she said, her tone more determined now as the professors continued to try and fight the fire. She needed to help, she wanted to be able to do something to help protect the staff, the students, the whole soul of the school. She readied herself with her wand, preparing to start fighting the fire again to help open a space in the flames to lead the students out.

Shawn sat quietly and listened as people began speaking about the Headmaster and how great he was, not saying anything himself because he couldn't think of anything worthwhile to say. Maybe he'd come back later.. when there weren't so many people there to listen. Preferably no one there to listen, he always felt so silly making speeches or whatever. His thoughts drifted back to the day he had graduated so many years ago, and how he'd had to say something then. The only thing he could remember was how he had vowed never to leave, which was a promise he had kept so far. He was only half listening as Carma announced that they would be saying their goodbyes, then a minute later he was thrust back into reality as a ring of fire formed around the clearing.
Jumping up from his seat, he looked around at the screaming students and saw that some of them were trying to put the fire out with their wands. He tried this as well, but it seemed that the fire was only getting worse. In an attempt to calm himself down he backed up a little, squeezing his eyes shut as he tried to think of everything he had learned while he was in school all those years ago, to find something that would help. Nothing came to mind. Oh whyy hadn't he been an overachiever like Farrah and just taken every class offered.
And then, as if by some miracle, he felt a raindrop hit his face. And then another, and soon it was pouring. Shawn had never been so happy to hear thunder in his life. Assuming that the storm would keep the fire under control, he signed heavily and pushed his now soaking wet hair out of his face. His nervous heart had lightened significantly, but his eyes were still scanning the area for anything.. suspicious. Someone had started that fire, and he didn't think they would be giving up so easily. He thought about leaving, but he saw that there were students still there.. and what kind of staff member would he be if he just left them.

Well, OOC Kiaro couldn't understand how people could 'see' her, seeing as she was invisible. And she did a pretty damn good job at her invisibility too, for not practicing all that well. The fire, kudos to Aaron, raged on relentlessly. The deflection spells, courtesy of Carma, were accurate enough that people stumbled back.
But obviously, their skill was not yet powerful enough to conquer from the outside. Obviously. She hissed as a hole had been made in the flames, a shaky feeling erupting from down her spine. Everyone followed Carma, like good boys and girls, as Kiaro watched, invisible and secluded. Well, thank goodness for Arri, or else everyone would have burned alive.
Although Kiaro had her evil side, Kiaro couldn't help but smirk at the place where Arri was. She could so be evil. She had what it takes. She was a Malfoy, afterall. Plus, her use of powers would be exceptionally useful on their side. PLUS, she would be quite easy to take advantage of, seeing as she didn't even know anything about herself anymore.
As she thought about it, rocking on the balls of her feet as the crowded amounts of people got the hell out of dodge, Kiaro stayed, looking at the sky and smiling to herself. What had turned out as a peaceful memorial service turned into hell. She scoffed under her breath. Finally, like they all had planned, Kiaro pointed her wand into the air.
"Morsmorde!" she yelled fiercely, watching as the snake rose into the air, the Dark Mark. She chuckled to herself darkly, and filed behind Carma obediently.

Hearing Carma asking Torza to get students out of the way. Nodding her head fiercly she yelled louder this time, "For god sakes move now! The flames look like they are dying down but you never know what could happen!" she smiled at Jessica as well as she could and held her hand just as tightly. "Help me plase Jess?" she pleaded her friend.
"MALCOLM? STUDENTS GET OUT THE WAY, MALCOLM? STUDENTS GET OUT THE WAY!!!" she continued like this before pulling her wand out of her pocket, aiming water at the fire she watched in dismay as she made barely any difference to the fire at all. "STUDENTS STAY CLEAR OF ALL TREES!"
Naturally Torza didn't see Kiaro at all seeing as she was invisible but she saw the dark mark. Didn't that only come when blood had been spilled? Or was she wrong? Oh please say Torza was wrong! "Don't panic, Hogwarts is safe, nobody worry ok?" she shouted to the students clutching a few of them and given them a hug. "Nothing bad will happen to you, it looks like they got who they wanted..."

Watching as Torza began to try and fight the fire, Jessica followed suit. Standing in front of the students, she cried out, "Aguamenti!" once again. A stream of water came out of her wand as she concentrated. She moved back slowly, forcing the students behind her scramble more to the center of the clearing. "GET BACK!!" she yelled out, not sure how much the students could hear over the crackle of the flames, the pounding drops of rain, and the peals of thunder.
"GET INTO THE CENTER OF THE MEADOW!!" she yelled as she moved back even farther, wanting to get the students to safety. She stayed right by Torza, her eyes breaking from the flames now and then to search for Malcolm. "MALCOLM!!" she yelled out, wondering where on earth he had disappeared to and/or what had happened to him. Her eyes caught sudden sight of the Dark Mark floating above the clearing, almost leering down at them. She shuddered inwardly, her eyes widening in horror. "STAY CALM!!" she screamed above the loud crackle of the flames, hoping the students would hear her. The last thing they needed was for an extreme panic to be sent through the crowd. Then no one would be able to think clearly enough to get them out.

Jadyn grabbed the closest persons hand, and pulled them with her, whispering to them to grab someone elses hand, and she escaped fully away from the fire and frowned looking up to the sky, she didn't know why she hadn't cried earlier, but she started crying now, tears streaming down her face, luckily it was raining and it wasn't noticeable, but her heavy breathing sort of was a hint she was crying. She hated this all. She hated this place right now. She wished she was in her dorm, asleep. She wished she'd never even came to the service, she wished the service hadn't even happened..she wished none of the bad stuff had happen. But things have to get bad before it can get better..

As Melissa trudged onward, hemmed in on all sides by students, all whining, sniffling, or yelling, she was oddly silent. Biting her lip she kept moving, not letting go of her roommates, her grip clenching them in total fear. She had calmed down, in spite of the noise level rising, until she heard a thunder crack. Not really absorbing it, she panicked again, wondering what else could go wrong, until...
Rain.
Blessed rain, pattering slowly at first until they were under a deluge. Washing away the ashes and grime, and soot stains, she coughed at first, then filled her lungs with clean, cool air. She choked a little and wiped her eyes, her hands coming away with smudgy marks. She heard someone yell a spell she had only read before in textbooks...
"Morsmorde!"
She stopped dead in her tracks and looked up, her eyes reflecting the mark shining in the sky. Melissa gasped and stared in horror. As a muggleborn, she never thought she would see something so frightening, and suddenly all the rumors began to seem more real than a tabloid gossip column she had dismissed until now. She screamed and pointed, otherwise unmoving.

Post by Cory Benson on Aug 3, 2008 20:15:25 GMT -5
Cory heard his name called out. He turned to see Torza. It had been quite some time since he had seen her but it was no time for catch-up. Just as he was about to reply he looked up at the sky. Started to feel a drizzle. "...was that a raindrop?" He said holding out his hand. And indeed it was a raindrop. And more started to fall, faster and bit harder too. Well at least there was someone out there trying to protect them. Who? Cory didn't know.
But what he did know... was that whoever it was that started all this... would most likely not let there little fun be ruined by some rain. Whatever they had planned... wasn't going to be foiled by droplets of water. And he was starting to think... that this was only...just the beginning. Hogwarts was no longer fully together in this. For a while, everything that happened on the outside, hadn't made it onto the grounds of Hogwarts.
Only but whispers and small talk from students and staff, speaking of such occurences from outside the grounds... But everyone was still safe here on the grounds. In our little home, where everyones together... But all that was no more. Were they all still in it together? Because it seemed that others seemed to have different agendas now. If they wanted safety now... they were going to have work for it.
Like most everyone else Cory was stuck. There was hardly a way to exit. I mean eventually the rain would destroy the fire, but until then there wasn't much to do. I mean maybe if you knew a lot of spells someone would find a way out... but until then all they could really do... was wait. And hope that whoever it was doing the bidding, wouldn't have any other tricks up there sleeves...so to speak.

Torza edged nearer to the fire in hope that she would be able to put it out better from her new distance. Shooting water from her wand she looked at the blaze of fire that had engulfed Abba and although the thunder storm seemed to be doing its job of helping the flames die down there was still no sign of Abba. "Get behind me everyone!" she yelled to the students, "I don't want roasted students today thank you" it wasn't a joke but at the end of the day it probably wasn't the best thing to say either.
As the fire crackled and she shiver in the rain she turned to face Jessica and mouthed her thank you. "MALCOLM!" she screamed though she couldn't see a lot of people, all lost in the chaos. The one she wanted to stop and as soon as possible. "EVERYBODY GET INTO THE MIDDLE NO BODY PANICS NO BODY GETS HURT!"
She was still worried about the mark in the sky, "Don't look at it" she advised everyone. Her parents had been muggles and did that put her in danger, even though she was brought of adopted by two of the nicest witches ever?

Elessar looked around at the blazing inferno and smirked, it was nothing to him. With one hand he began to soak the surrounding area with water.
"Jessica, Aim your spell at the base of the fire." El yelled to her, telling her how to put the fire out. Elessar then looked up into the sky and saw something horrific.
"Someone conjured the Dark Mark."

"DON'T RUN, DON'T PANIC!!! STAY TOGETHER AND KEEP AWAY FROM THE TREES!!" Jessica yelled loudly, trying to keep the students from running all different directions in sheer terror from seeing the Dark Mark. She turned toward Torza and smiled weakly, squeezing Torza's hand quickly. Hearing her name, she turned toward the voice. Seeing her DADA professor, she nodded swiftly as she stepped forward with Torza, this time pointing the stream of water that poured from her wand at the base of the fire rather than the middle of it. The rain continued to fall and she could only hope that soon the fire would be under control.
Her eyes ran around the edge of the clearing, looking desperately for any break in the fire so she could begin to help the students get out safely. Without breaking her concentration on the spell, she lifted her head once more to gaze at the Dark Mark solemnly. She was suddenly struck with a sudden random thought and was glad she had worn flats rather than high heels as the heels would have stuck in the now muddy ground. She gazed intensely at the fire, expelling any thoughts from her mind that would hinder her concentration.

Cory looked up and gasped he was there for the funeral but was hidden well in the crowd. He looked in the sky and sighed lovely the dark mark. Yes he knew that mark it killed his mother. He wouldn't talk about losing his family nope he was a quiet boy since he has hidden from the kids. He heard the commotion and nodded as he followed what Torza said or other said.

This was definitely not good -- not at all. Aaron was shocked, quite frankly, that the plan would be ending so soon. The fire would go out eventually, he knew that, even if he and Carma and Kiaro had to end it themselves, but it wasn't supposed to happen so early. Frustrated, he moved toward the path; the rain was steadily working on the tree, and he didn't like that at all. And then it dawned on him, he suddenly remembered something vital: Aaron could control water. He could do it, silently and in the dark, he could keep the water from hitting the fire. He couldn't stop the rain, his power wasn't that strong, but Aaron could make the water not hit the trees and could - hopefully - keep the fire burning in the process. He closed his eyes and concentrated on the tree tops, willing the water to not fall onto the fire, willing the fire to stay protected. He could not make the fire stronger, but so far, the water failed to hit the trees. Aaron opened his eyes, still concentrating on the rain, and let out a deep gasp. There it was; it had been planned, but seeing it now, above the Forest, not of his own, was still shocking. But there was no panic, no fear: seeing the Dark Mark made Aaron stronger, more willful, made him feel stronger. His grip on repelling the water strengthened, and he had to use much willpower to hold in the long, deep laugh that he most certainly wanted to let out. And he would if it wouldn't give him away, wouldn't make him look like a suspect or look pyschotic. Aaron, still focused, looked around. Elessar was soaking with more water? Oh no, he certainly wasn't. With a light smirk, his face hidden beneath the downpour of rain, he only increased his intent. Oh yes, things were running smoothly, now.

Post by Carma Rousseau on Aug 3, 2008 20:27:10 GMT -5
Carma rolled her eyes as Torza began shouting for people to get into the center... that was NOT what she meant. Good god, when she concocted all of this nonsense she expected people to get their heads together. Arri and Abba Jr. did - they made a path and left. Carma wasn't sure if the path was still there, she hadn't checked.
But the rest of them were herding into the center, just waiting for someone else to save them. It made Carma angry. Sure, she helped start this thing, but good god... just WHAT were they teaching kids at this school? When you're confronted with danger, curl up and die?!
Thankfully, Jessica and some others had stepped forward with aquamenti spells - something useful, at last. The rain was doing its damage to their flames. With the combined efforts of Arri's rainstorm and the student's spells this fire would be out soon, that was if Aaron couldn't do anything to save it.
Casting her spells and cursing when they did not put out the flames, Carma turned when she heard a very familiar, and very irritating, voice yelling in the crowd.
"Elessar!!"
She'd thought this over as soon as he'd arrived. Carma flew into a rage, turning away from the trees and pointing her want squarely at him, not even trying to be subtle.
"You damn firebug, put this out! Is this how you honour the Headmaster's life? Setting more shit on FIRE, putting our students in DANGER!"
Carma was seething from every pore. She'd advanced on him, feeling like she might jab the point of her wand into his eyeball. It was easy to act this angry when you really did dislike someone.
"Do you hear me, Elessar?! Put this out right this instant, I won't let you kill my students like you murdered your whole family... STUPEFY!"
Perhaps it wasn't subtle... at all. But Elessar was the only one here with a history in setting unnecessary blazes. He tried to burn down the school AND the Ministry, and he was under suspicion for murder. And he wasn't destroying their work that easy.

Still seeing Fire, he looked around and thought maybe he was strong enough to take care of all the fire at once.
"Everyone, clear the area or use the Bubblehead Charm NOW!!" Elessar said as he began to evacute all the air from the area.
