Nicole went up to the owlery to feed and take care of her old owl, Alvin. She'd had the snowy owl since first year and was good friends with him. When she got there, Alvin was no where in sight. She panicked and looked everywhere. No other snowy owls had his blue eyes or scar. She could pick him out anywhere...but Alvin was not there. Nicole searched the skies, but he just wasn't there. Why would he just run off like that? She heard a noise and a flapping of wings and jumped up, but it wasn't him. It was a grand tan own carrying a thick letter. It dropped the letter on the owlery floor and flew off. Weren't the owls supposed to deliver at the students window or in the Great Hall? Curious, Nicole looked at the envelope. It was addressed to Nicole Miner.
She gasped and fell backward. Then, slowly, she picked up the letter and carefully opened it. Her hands were shaking as she unfolded the letter. It had the ministry's stamp on it. Nicole's stomach churned.
Dear Miss Miner,
The Ministry of Magic is sorry to inform you of your mother's death. Her body was found near a cave two days ago but we guess she has been dead for many months. The cause of death was torture and a killing curse. The house at which you lived at (her house) is a damaged wreck from when she was kidnapped last year. You can either fix it up or buy your own house. She has left you all her money and unbroken belongings so since you are seventeen years of age the money will be yours and added to your vault. Her belongings will also be kept in your vault.
Yours Truly, Hilbert Maple Ministry of Magic
[[Lol sorry for sappiness but it's part of my charrie's plot & I'm in the mood for a serious rp]]

She bit down on her lip as she gazed at the envelop in her hand, it had been a while sine she'd written to her mother and honestly she felt guilty for waiting so long. She made her way up the stairs, one by one, her brown clogs thudding against the steps as she went. "Macbeth" she chimed as she finally reached the Owlery floor a smile dancing into place when he landed on her shoulder "This is for mum" she mumbled patting his head gently and watching him fly off, he was such a good birdy. she noticed as a bit of a late reaction she wasn't alone "Uuum hello" she smiled sheepishly over at the girl, taking in the girl's expression...something was wrong. "Are you..." she broke off feeling as if she might be an annoyance "Okay?" her tone was cautious and she took a slight step towards her, here expression colored with concern...she didn't mean to be nosey but... she couldn't help but be at the moment.
