As Jenny ran down to the whomping willow, crystals of rain flew down from the sky, plastering her hair to her forehead. She must have been crazy. Running over to the whomping willow was crazy enough, but while it was raining?! She couldn't help it, she had to laugh. Tilting her head up to the sky, she laughed. Collapsing on the grassy ground just out of the willows range, she laughed until tears streamed out of her eyes and her face turned red.
It hadn't been an actual joke she had been laughing at, more of something she just had to get out of her system. She took in a few gasping breaths after her laughing attack had ended. Grinning, she staggered to her feet and glanced warily at the willow. It stood stock still, like a statue. That was quite unusual for the giant beast. Frowning, she took a few steps back and dismissed it.
Remembering that she was here on top secret charms homework, she pulled out her wand and pointed it at herself. Sucking in a deep breath she said, "Mitad Gigantesco!" The charm kicked in immediately. Jenny scrunched her eyes shut, and clenched her fists as she felt her bones get bigger and her skin stretched. When she felt the motion stop, she slowly opened her eyes.
She examined herself, to make sure that everything had turned into a half-giant before punching the air with her over sized fist and shouting "Yay!" She turned back towards the whomping willow. It wasn't as big as it had looked before, but it was still pretty big. She walked towards it, and it swayed slightly. Cautiously, Jenny took another step forward, and the willow suddenly lashed out at her.
Jumping back quickly, she stumbled and almost fell, but managed to regain her footing. She edged towards the tree again, only to have a long thorny branch narrowly miss her head. Defeated, she backed off and sat down on the grass. It had stopped raining now, and the sun was out. There were still a few gray clouds, but the sky seemed to have cleared. For the umpteenth time that morning, she wondered why she had come out in the rain.
