Kapri had seen the tree before, when she had first arrived. Of course, when she had first arrived, she had also been preoccupied with nervousness as well, so the thought of this tree didn't really hit home. With the tad bit of felix felicis in her hand that she had taken from the Potions classroom, she thought, what better way to prove that something had luck. She had to be careful though. Miss Desser had only given her enough potion to last fifteen-ish minutes. Kapri's heart was beating out of sync, to random beats and she found it hard to concentrate.
"Okay, you stupid tree, I'm going to show you what a Matuchi is made of!" she yelled at it. She briefly remembered Mr. Lily's dad saying that he had saved her sister from the tree. Thankfully, Kapri was a lot more brave than her sister was, so using her schniffy Gryffindor bravery skillz, she took a long swig from where the little tube of Felix Felicis had been located, in her pocket. She wound the clock for fifteen minutes, and stepped into the view of the tree. It immediately sensed her movement near the tree's 'zone', and swung down one of it's branches, missing her by a foot or more.
Kapri closed her eyes, feeling crashing branches around her, but no pain, so she knew she wasn't hurt. As branches fell off the tree left and right, they even managed to miss her, just pieces flowing in the wind the tree gathered up.
"Stupid, stupid tree. I have advantages against you." she felt good taunting the tree, even though it was not like it was going to say anything back. She stifled a laugh as she whipped a rock at it's trunk. This only managed to further anger the tree and it's branches came crashing down at a more frequent rate. Glancing at the watch on her wrist, she finally jumped out of the way as the last branch swinging almost landed on her ankle.
"Awesome" she whispered, a small grin appearing on her face.
