Layla looked around, her eyes sweeping across the entrance hall a few times. She still couldn't grasp the beauty and magnificence of the place, it was still too much for her to capture at one go. It had been more than 15 minutes, but she still felt like she was looking at it for the first time. She had to admit that she was a little bit nervous about being a first year, but it was not her most dominant feeling. Perhaps she was still in the shock of something new and she wasn't sure she'd get used to it very soon. Everything had happened rather suddenly, she still wasn't entirely convinced that this wasn't just another of her wacky dreams.
She walked a few steps forward. A again pause and marveled at the place. Someone looking at her would probably think she was another spastic newbie with her head turned upwards towards the ceiling. It was enough to start anyone wondering, especially if they'd seen how her position hadn't changed very much since the last few minutes.

Sophia was pretty much hopelessly wandering the castle as she sometimes found herself doing. She wasn't very good at keeping her mind occupied for long, at least not on any one thing, so this was usual for her. A small smile crossed her face as she saw what looked like a little first year looking up at her. Only, she knew that the girl wasn't looking up at the staircases to see Sophie, no she was only looking around the entrance hall. This was expected of any student of this age, of course, so Sophia began to slowly make her way down the stairs towards the girl. "Enjoying the view?" She asked, hoping not to startle her.
Sophia remembered way back to her first year, the very first time she'd walked into this entrance hall. She'd be nervous, scared, and about to piss her pants all at the same time. She wanted Hufflepuff, like her entire family had been, and low and behold ,she got the house she wanted. It would have been a disgrace to her family to be sorted into any other house, but after growing a few years, it seemed an odd surprise that the young woman wasn't in Ravenclaw. She was pretty much a Hufflepuff overachiever, and she enjoyed the title!
Sophia's smile was still wide as she thought over her first visit to the entrance hall, coming in with the line of the rest of the first years. Only, Layla appeared to have just arrived here, and in February? Well, it wasn't uncommon for the students to show up late in the year due to family issues, or just vacations, really. Sophia couldn't help but wonder the girls name and house, so she spouted off her own, hoping to get the girl's in reply. "I'm Sophia Davis, Seventh year Hufflepuff, by the way." She nodded, matter-of-factly.

As an assignment for art class, Anna had been given a camera and was told to go around and take pictures of unsuspecting students and staff and other random drifters that lurked around. This assignment brought her to the entrance hall, where she came face to face with Sophia and another girl that looked unfamiliar. Having practiced working the camera by snapping pictures of passerbys on the way here, Anna was confident in her ability to snap a decent shot of the two students. Hmm, but the question is, did she want a candid photo, or a portrait kind of deal. Deciding that she didn't have time to dawdle while the girls fixed their hair and made sure they looked okay, like girls always did when the subject of pictures came up, she figured the better option would be a candid photo.
Walking in the direction of the girls, she whistled to herself like people do when they pretend they're not up to anything, hiding her camera behind her back. When she'd sidled close enough for a good picture, she quickly whipped the camera out from behind her back and held it up to her eye, snapping away furiously. First photo ambush: successful. With a grin she backed up a little and held her camera back behind her in case either one of them got upset and tried to steal it from her. "Uhh, have a nice day!" she squeaked before turning around and sprinting off.
