It was finally morning. The birds were cheeping and that fresh dew smell was in the air and Ashton found himself walking down the staircase into the entrance hall and finally taking him into the Great Hall which was filled with all sorts of yummy delicious breakfast food. The smells were abundant there was the rustic country smell of bacon in the air with the sweet sugary smell of freshly picked fruit. Ashton's mouth was watering as he now found himself taking a seat at the Slytherin table with a new fresh clean plate appearing before him. Extremely hungry Ashton started to pile food onto his plate until it looked like a small mountain. He then began to eat his food with every bite missing a remembering how amazing hogwarts food was. To him breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all feasts in his book due to the amazing taste of what he was eating.

It wasn't long before Cornelius got hungry... After all, he was a growing boy, and he was dying to hit a growth spurt. His mother insisted that if he ate all of his vegetables, he would grow up to be tall and strong. Of course, Niles ate his vegetables, but he was still a little runt. So maybe wizard food held the answers? Unfortunately, he didn't remember which table was which... He didn't see any banners, and he didn't have many friends here yet. The only person that Niles saw was Waterlily, so he knew that table belonged to the Ravenclaws. God, why did he have to be so stupid? He should've paid attention on the night of the sorting ceremony, but he didn't even think about it... Deciding to leave it all to chance, he sat next to an older, nice-looking boy. His plate of food was mountainous, comforting Niles in the fact that even if he was sitting at the wrong table, he would be too preoccupied with his food to notice. Niles reached forward and piled mostly vegetables - potatos, broccoli, carrots - onto his plate, then, on second thought, added a couple of sausages. He did rather like sausages. ((Hope you don't mind! ))

Ashton continued to eat his food shoving more food into his mouth by the minute if anyone didn't know better they would have thought he was a horse. He continued to eat until a small hufflepuff boy decided to sit next to him. Confused why the boy was at the slytherin table of all places. He decided it might have bit a bit of fun to mess with the boy. He turned around to the site and took off his slytherin tie that was on him and shoved it into his pocket. If the boy didn't see the green and silver it would be much more easier to convince him he was at the right table.
Ash looked at the boy and smiled. "So, hufflepuff. Its a nice house to be in i guess." he said trying to make some small talk before he would get to the point. At this point Ash finally realized that the boy somehow had veggies on his plate and wondered where he got them. This was quite confusing to him normally Hogwarts didn't serve veggies for breakfast. Oh well, it could have been a parent complaining that thier child didn't get enough green food in thier diet so he shrugged it off.

After straightening his robe, Wentworth descended the several hundred stairs is a hurry to get to Breakfast. Classes would be starting in just couple of short weeks and he still only knew the most direct route to and from the great hall from the Gryffindor Common Room. First stop would be a good breakfast, and then an expedition throughout the "inbounds" areas of the castle and grounds. It was still early and few students were up and about, but upon entering the Great Hall there were a few students enjoying the veritable feast laid before them.
He heard the boy sitting at the Slytherin table speak to a Hufflepuff boy and tried to sit adjacent to eavesdrop on the conversation while enjoying a plate of sausages, eggs, and mushrooms.

Ash was still wondering how the boy got veggies for breakfast. He may never live that down and always wonder, that was until he saw a gryffindor boy sit behind them and begin eating. He thought nothing of it until he noticed the boy was eavesdropping on their conversation. He turned around and looked at the boy. "So you think its best to eavesdrop into a conversation that doesn't concern you?" he asked with a stern face. "You know even though i am a Slytherin it woulda been better for you to at least ask to sit with us and actually partake in a conversation that you were welcomed in" he said again looking at he first year Gryffindor boy.

Marissa was becoming concerned. It seemed as if everyone was swooping down on her table and it was disturbing for many reasons. She stared blandly at the younger boys and poured milk into her coffee, and stirred it for what seemed like a long time. She clanged the spoon against the side of the cup, and laid it down next to her plate with a clank. Holding the cup in both hands, she took a long sip before setting it back down in front of her, staring at Ash the entire time. She wasn't really sure what to say. This mixing of Houses at the tables needed to be stopped, but she wasn't going to be the one to say it, unless it became absolutely necessary. At first she humored him in his little prank with the Hufflepuff, but now she ahemmed and pulled her sweater apart slightly to emphasize her Slytherin tie, tied neatly around her collar. She raised her eyes at Ash as if to say, "Are we really encouraging them to sit here?" and began buttering a blueberry muffin.

Ash looked over at Marissa. He noticed that she wasn't really pleased with all the non slytherin company at the table. He didn't want to upset Marissa. He thought she was right houses shouldn't mix. But then again, he knew he didn't want anyone eves dropping on his conversation. Now noticing that Marissa was giving him the look he looked at her and replied, "I would rather not have anyone eves dropping into my conversations."
Ashton now thought about how to get the unwanted visitors away from the table. Being too mean wasn't his specialty. He had some good wise cracks and moments at times but someone really had to bother him before he became extremely mean.

The tension was growing palpable after the Slytherins noticed his rather less-than-clandestine eavesdropping. Wentworth wasn't sure whether he was more embarrassed at being caught or upset at being told-off by the Slytherins. He decided that getting upset wouldn't solve anything and could actually end up badly since the Slytherins were both older than him. He turned more abruptly and said in an even tone, "Never mind me I'm still feeling lost here. Just thought I'd try to get to know some people. I apologize if my listening in offended you, but I'm afraid we haven't met. I'm Wentworth... and you are?"

Ashton listened as the small Gryffindor pleaded to him, in a sense. It was actually pretty entertaining to Ash that he was pleading. It was something he didn't really see often. '
What didn't really surprise Ashton was that the Gryffindor boy introduced himself So, without a bit he began to introduce himself. "My name is Ashton; Ash for short, not that you will NEED to know it. As for the eavesdropping don't let me catch you doing it again."

Wentworth didn't want to overextend his tenuous conversation much more, but he needed to make sure that he followed his own personal ethos for treating others. "Ash, it's good to meet you. If only under a more harmonious circumstance we'd met...but have a good morning." With that Wentworth turned about and continued eating his plate of goodies. Trying to focus on the delicious flavors and scents and scenery of the hall.
