After what seemed like an endless summer, it sounded like a new term was on its way. Shawnie Myers had been spending increasingly long periods away from his beloved school, but he had decided that it was finally time to return, maybe teach if they needed him or even just continue to be that creepy old man that hangs around that graduated like 10 years ago. Ok, maybe it wasn't quite 10 years ago, but it had sure felt like it. And you wanna know something scary? He'd found a gray hair stuck to his pillowcase last week. Now, it very well could have belonged to his even-older-than-him-in-cat years cat, but nonetheless he had been pretty freaked out. The optimist in him told him that at least he wasn't going bald seeing as he'd abused his hair quite often in his youth, but that was a quiet little voice that was drowned out by every other hair-obsessed part of his brain. The first place Shawn decided he wanted to visit was the Roof, always one of his favorite and most often visited spots. Most of the time the playground won out over it though, since the roof took so many stairs to get to. Stairs took time, and sweat, and sometimes even tears. Thankfully a tear-free Shawn emerged through the door leading to the roof with a smile on his face. Looking around the roof, he sighed with contentment upon deciding that it hadn't changed at all since the last time he had been here, save for some graffiti that he imagined resulted from one of the art classes. Wandering around to the other side of the roof, he saw that the 'art' that he had created so long ago was still there, though much less pretty - had someone perhaps tried to wash it off or was it simply due to the weather? Doing some more wandering, he found himself at the edge of the roof looking down upon the grounds that was (to his excitement) teeming with more students than he'd seen in a while. Oh, how he loved the start of a new term. The smile on his face grew as he plopped down on the ground, swinging his legs off of the edge and sending a stream of bubbles into the air with his wand. ((For miss Rosie, however post invaders are welcome, as always ))

Desperate to escape some zealous prefect trying to give her detention for wandering the halls Rosie flung open the door to the roof and took the stairs at a fast clip. Geesh! Just because she was vertically challenged did not mean she should keep getting mistaken for students, and every term there was some little pipsqueek trying to live up to Farrah's legend who tried to hall her off to detention. This time was worse then normal though because she realized she was old enough to be that little rapscallion's mother, well almost anyway.
Stopping at the top of the stairs she put her hands on her knees and leaned over trying to catch her breath. Giggling a little at the absurdity of an Alumni hiding on the roof to avoid detention she straightened up and stepped out on the roof. Doing a quick perimeter scan she noticed a man about her age looking over the side at the grounds below. "Your not going to try to give me detention too, are you?" she called out to the back of his head as she started the walk over to where he was.

Upon hearing the voice behind him a grin spread across Shawn's face, for he would recognize that voice anywhere, even after all these years. With a giggle he turned around so he could see her as he shouted in his most dignified and authoritative voice, "That depends, Miss Kynward. Do you have an acceptable reason for not visiting or writing in months?" As she walked closer he looked her up and down to see if she was still the same old Rosie. It wouldn't surprise him that she'd been mistaken for a student, she still looked quite similar to how she had when they were young(er). Maybe a little more mature...definitely not any taller though. "What kind of shenanigans are you up to that you're in danger of a detention anyways, hmmm?" he questioned, jealous of course that he was not invited to partake in said shenanigans.

Rosie's slow steps quickly turned in to a full out run as the man turned around and spoke. Sliding to a stop she grinned then tried to look meak. "Well Professor Myers sir you see I can't write when I don't have an address. Same with visiting. And" she grinned saucily "I believe this works two ways mister"
She looked him over carefully wondering how she had not known instantly who this man was. Her Shawnie of Shawnie's, her childhood crush, companion, , instigator, accomplice, and friend. She had often called him her kryptonite. She barely breathed in her first years here with out Amy, Maddie or Him. And after Amy and Maddie had abandoned her she could still always find Shawnie when she need a friend. She saw now that he was little taller, a little more filled out. He looked older but the same all at once. He was still her Shawnie underneath all those grown up things.
Unable to contain herself any longer she flung her small frame full force at him almost taking them both off the roof. "Shawnie, Shawnie Shawnie" she squealed squeezing him tight before pulling back just enough to see his face "I think I might have missed you a little bit" she said with a giggle kissing his cheeks in glee. "And for once I didn't do anything. I am so short they keep trying to lock me up with the other children" she told him with a shake of her head "I blame Farrah. I don't know how but some how all these zealous little prefects are her fault. Payback for GASP or something." she nodded resolutely before smiling up again "Now tell me every every every thing starting with just how much you have missed me lately"

An address! All the years he'd lived in his apartment and he never told anyone his address! Of course, there were still some very creepy people that managed to find him anyway, however he supposed he couldn't blame the never-creepy Rosie for his own mistake. No wonder no one ever wrote to him or visited anymore. Or, as Rosie pointed out as she spoke up again, it could be because he himself had never written or visited. But how were you supposed to write or visit people if you didn't even know if they were still alive? He'd never wish death upon anyone of course, but he never knew what happened to his friends after they left Hogwarts and failed to write. Rosie had always been around through, so it was at least half his fault for their long period of separation. "Well, my friend, I'll forgive you for not visiting if you forgive me for not visiting," he suggested, holding out a hand so that they could shake on it.
A handshake was of course not the appropriate interaction for Shawn and Rosie upon their reunion, so the very large hug that followed wasn't completely unexpected but the force of it surprised him nonetheless. He hugged her tightly and used his feet to keep them from falling over the edge, for the spell that kept you from falling to your death never gave you a very gentle landing when it threw you back onto the roof. "Just a little bit, huh?" he said with a giggle, squeezing her once more before letting her go completely. As she explained why she was on the run from the prefects, he couldn't help but laugh. "Only you," he mumbled, shaking his head. He laughed once more as she brought up GASP, which brought back a flood of fond memories. He still couldn't tell you what it stood for though, the acronym changed every time he asked.
"I have missed you....with the heat of a thousand suns?" He wrinkled his nose, unsure if that statement accurately represented the full spectrum of his feelings. What that even meant, he couldn't tell you. "In other words, I missed you a whole lot. Like...more than I'd miss cookies, in the horrible event that I would have to give them up." Much more accurate. Oh, how he had missed her. "Every every everything else is pretty boring. I did some traveling for a while but I much prefer being here - at least when you're here!" He smiled sweetly at her and then laughed.

Rosie giggled again gleefully before grabbing her dear friend's hand and dragging him over to one of the benches that lined the roof wall and shoved him down. Apparently in her glee she felt he had lost all right of motion on his own and that she should take over for him. After settling him she flopped down next to him draping her legs over his so he couldn't escape. Then remember his earlier muttering she gave him a playful swipe "I am sure it isn't only me I mean there must be some other vertically challenged people who have this kind of thing happen all the time" she nodded trying to look like she knew what she was talking about then she lost out to her giggles "Oh who am I kidding I can't imagine it happening to anyone else" she told him as she started rummaging through her bag.
"Now I know I have them somewhere" she said as she reached in deeper pulling out crayons, toys knitting and one very upset hamster in tap shoes that gave a rude gesture and ran off toward the Counselors office. Finally she pulled out just what she was looking for "You missed me more then cookies? Or you missed my cookies?" she asked taunting him with the bag of Rosie Cookies that she had pulled from the bottomless bag. After a moment she leaned closer then grabbed his head in her hands. "Oh my God Shawnie is that a grey hair?" She gasped.

In order to avoid having his arm pulled out of his socket (for such a small thing Rosie had some strength to her), he stood up quickly and allowed himself to be dragged to the benches before he was not very nicely pushed down onto one. "Are you trying to break me, Rosie darling?" he questioned, patting her knees as she swung them up on top of him to trap him in his seat. It was a good thing he hadn't planned on trying to run away. "It might happen to Tallie, you'll have to ask her the next time you see her around. She's quite short herself." He grinned and nodded his head, wondering what she was up to nowadays. How did he end up with such short friends anyway? Hanging out with them probably only made him look older by comparison. Perhaps he should try hanging out with a taller crowd...
Shawn looked at Rosie quizzically as she started searching through her bag, wondering if he had missed her saying what exactly she was trying to find. Upon seeing that she pulled out a hamster he burst out laughing, though the poor thing probably hadn't been very comfortable stuffed in there with the crayons and knitting supplies. The tapping noises it made as it ran away only made the situation funnier. When Rosie pulled out a bag of cookies Shawn gasped and tried to reach for it, however she was being really mean and teasing him with them. Gosh, she'd gotten more evil since the last time he'd seen her. "Both? But I'd much rather have you around than your cookies...they're just a bonus," he said, smiling sweetly at her again in an attempt to get her to give up the cookies. As she got closer he thought he'd finally won, but instead of giving him the cookies she grabbed a hold of his head and scrutinized his gray hairs. "Nooo, don't look at it! It's not there! Just a hallucination, Rosie," he squeaked, wiggling around in an attempt to free his head from her clutches.

"No I think it is real" Rosie said still holding his head and pulling it closer "Yes Yes it is" She patted the hairs gentle and released his head. "Well you have had hair every other color why not grey" she told him gently . "Here I think you need these" she said handing over the cookies in pity. Reaching in to the bag she just handed him she pulled out a chocolate chip and nibbled it thoughtfully
"You know why you have grey hair right?" she asked solemnly with a mischievous glint in the big green eyes "because you haven't spent enough time with me. I am like the fountain of youth, I keep people young" she nodded trying to look like she knew what she was talking about "So if you spend more time with me maybe you want get any more grey hairs, of course spending time with me means spending time with Caerwyn and she might give you grey hairs" she giggled, "So I guess it might be a stale mate there"

Shawn let out a squeak and continued to struggle as she pulled his head closer, letting out a whiny 'nooooo' as she informed him that they were real. He knew that they were, of course, having scrutinized them in the mirror for about an hour that morning. It was a horrible ordeal, but he resisted the urge to pull them out because he'd always heard that if you pull out gray hair then even more will grow back. Shawn did not need a head full of gray hair. But hey, at least it had gotten him cookies for now! With a grin he sat up and took the bag of cookies, reaching into it and pulling one out. His first Rosie cookie in years did not let him down - they were just as delicious as he remembered them, if not more. "You haven't lost your touch, these cookies are just delightful!" he informed her with a smile before devouring the remainder of his first cookie.
He raised a curious eyebrow at her question, wondering if she knew the secret of why people grew gray hairs. If she knew she could surely stop it! The remedy she suggested was not completely believable, but Shawn didn't have to be coaxed to spend time with one of his oldest and bestest friends. "That's it, from now on you're never going to get rid of me," he said, looping his arm through hers and hugging them tightly together. "Caerwyn, how is she?" he asked, always forgetting that Rosie had a child. It seemed like just yesterday that they were children themselves.

"Sounds good to me" Rosie said leaning in to his tight hug. She stayed that way in companionable silence for a few moments before answering his next question. "Oh Shawnie" she told him with a sigh "She is Big, well not big literally cause she seems to take after me not her Father" she spat the last word a little venomously, Caerwyn's "father" Cody was still a sore subject with her. "But growing up. How did she get so old. How did we get so old?" Rosie leaned her head on her long time friends shoulder "Everyday I look at her and think God we used to be that young. Before you know it she is going to be here running the halls like we did" she grinned a little "And reeking havoc like we did I am sure" She giggled at the idea "So my Shawniest of Shawnie's why don't you have any kiddies yet" she asked with poke marveling at the idea that they were really old enough to ask things like how is your daughter and why don't you have any kids yet.

Shawn let out a laugh as she told him that her daughter was small like she was, but was rather surprised at the tone in which she referred to Cody. He hadn't much of an idea of the situation, and he would never want to upset her by asking about it, but he must have really messed up if he had her talking like that. Rosie was a sweet girl, in all the years of knowing her he wasn't sure if she had ever spoken badly about anyone. Except maybe him, he'd probably heard that tone of voice back when he was a sullen teenager. Boy, what a handful he had been - and still, Rosie stuck by him all these years. He gave her arm an affectionate squeeze and listened to her as she continued to tell him about Caerwyn. "And chasing around boys, wearing makeup, sneaking around... oh Rosie, when she starts school you let me know. I'd better keep an eye on her," he said with a giggle, which continued as she questioned him as to why he didn't have kids yet. "Who in their right mind would trust me with a child, Rosie?" he questioned, shaking his head. "Though I've done a pretty good job with the cats..."

Rosie sighed and laid her head on his shoulder. "Well she starts this term actually and honestly I am not sure how I am going to handle it. Promise me if you find me in the alley outside the Three Broomsticks that you won't take pictures and you will bring me home" she asked with a giggle. "And make up maybe but no No boys. I am going to send her Uncle Shawnie to beat them all up. Or at least scare them a little." she had to giggle again at the thought of her Shawnie being too scary. Though there had been the sad Shawnie phase and that had been a little scary. "I would trust you with a child Shawnie" she playful swatted at him "in fact I am sure I have in the past, with mine"

Shawn gasped as she informed him that Caerwyn was starting school this term. "Already?! Rosie, I feel like the last time I saw her she was only a toddler! I'm not even going to be able to recognize her to perform my daughter-watching duties!" He shook his head and pouted lightly, realizing now just how long it had been since he'd spent time with her. After the momentary freak out he took in the rest of what she said and giggled lightly. "I promise I'll carry your butt home and take care of you and make sure you don't go insane. But if teenage me didn't drive you insane I think you're pretty immune," he said with a smile, patting the top of her head. He laughed at the idea at him scaring away Caerwyn's potential boyfriends, he'd have to brush up on his how to be intimidating skills. "I've been trusted for short periods of time, not to actually raise a child," he said with a shrug, giggling as she swatted him. "I dunno, it's probably better that I don't have kids anyway. At least not by myself."

Rosie hugged her friend tight and giggled "Oh Shawnie I love you like crazy cakes but you were a bit of pill sometimes weren't you" she teased a little truthfully. "Gosh when I get grey hairs like you, you will have been the one to give them to me!" she giggled again giving him yet another hug not letting go this time. "Oh I am glad you will take me home! Now I can have my bender with out worry" she said before giving a little gasp when she realized what he said about how long it had been since he had seen Caerwyn. "You must must must come to dinner soon then so you can see her. She is getting so grown up but you know she still refuses to take off the Tutu. At least she leaves the wings at home sometimes now" Rosie told him a little sadly. Then she heard him say it was better if he didn't have kids, alone anyway "Oh Shawnieface! I will have kids with you then you won't be alone and you can have them!" she told him with a grin "Caerwyn needs siblings anyway" she teased.

Shawn smiled and returned the hug, nodding his head as he did so. "A bit? That's putting it nicely, I think. At least I grew out of it though!" he said optimistically with a giggle. "It will not have been my fault, I was giving you grief before you had the ability to get gray hair! And I don't think I give you problems anymore, but hey, if you want to blame your gray hairs on my I'm sure I start causing you some problems." He grinned mischievously. "Well I never turn down Rosie cooking, so whenever you want to have me for dinner I'll be there! And Caerwyn, sounds a lot like her Mommy, if she's anywhere as cool as you were then I can't waaaaait to see her again." Patting her head, he giggled a little at her next statement. "That child would definitely give you gray hair. Probably before it was even born."
