Sighing Katerina stared out the large picture windows at the snow. It was cold and wet and her pretty new boots had not arrived yet from the Muggle store where she had ordered them. So now she was stuck inside with nothing better to do then stare a snow flakes. Tres Boring
Then, noticing her reflection in the window, she changed her focus from the fluttering flakes to something much prettier...Her. She had to admire the way her dark long sleeved dress set off her slim figure and how her shoes matched every fourth bead on her necklace perfectly. Her brown hair was perfect, bouncy and glossy and her make up flawless. Oh yes she thought as she put her hand on her hip and returned her gaze to the snow She was Fabulous.

Jacob was looking for a quick breath of fresh air, but it was too late to go outside. the rooftop lounge was the perfect destination for the outing.
When he arrived he saw that the lounge was occupied. She was beautiful and he had to comment on her magnificence. "Beautiful. I'd say." he knew that his comment could be taken many ways, but the ambiguity was what made it extraordinary.

Hearing steps behind her Kat began a slow turn toward their source. Just as she was fully facing the door the boy who entered spoke saying Beautiful. Well of course he must be talking about her, I mean what else would it be. "Well " she started, striking her favorite pose, one foot slightly forward, hand on cocked hip, head tilted a little to the right to make her hair look just a little bouncier "Yes, you would be right then" she finished saucily. She gave a little smirk that was a little coy and a whole lot of challenge.

Her response was unlike the other girls at Hogwarts. She was confident and felt self-esteem. The power of her charisma was tangible. He gave her the 'how you doin' look and a smile that would definitely melt her heart out of her. He maintained an orderly disorder in his blonde locks and he ran his left hand through it and gave a little ruffle for good measure. He walked right over to her intimidating presence and extended his hand for her to shake. "Hi. I'm your biggest fan. Jacob's my name and you must be Aphrodite...or at least her sister, because...Well, I'm sure you know why."

Well this boy isn't going to be hard to attract Kat couldn't help but think as she looked him over, listening to his lines with her continued little smirk. Taking in his posture and demeanor she could also tell that keeping him attracted would still provide her with a fun little challenge. Sticking her hand out she touched her fingers to the inside of his giving a little squeeze in place of shake. "Charmed I am sure" she said keeping her voice a little bored "I am Katerina, You can call me Kat or Kate" she told him keeping up the who cares attitude but also keeping her hand in place and her eyes on his. "I am sure I know, but why don't you tell me anyway?" she challenged.

He saw that her response was not to blush, but to answer bravado with bravado. This would make it all the more challenging. She was beautiful, true, but some say that he's handsome. It would be a battle of the wills. Who would win he wasn't sure, but the idea of giving up, just because she didn't gush at his words was definitely not on the table of options. "Simply, Kate, because your radiance outshines the confines of mortal explanation." He'd hoped that his quick wit would open the door just enough to allow the conversation to continue.

"Well your a charming one aren't you?" she asked him taking a step closer. Oh he could be fun she thought as she debated her next move. Not to much but she knew not enough would make him leave too, she had to find just the right words and motions. Finally figuring she had made him wait long enough for her reply she took one more step putting her self just a foot away "But then I do like them Charming" she caught his eyes with her " and handsome too...So today might just be your lucky day, or not. What do you think?" she winked leaving the ball in his court.

He was flummoxed. She was obviously expecting something. Was he an all talk and no go type of guy after all. "I'd say that fortune is in the eye of the beholder, and my eyes are telling me that my luck is doing pretty good, at least right now. But tell me Kat, what brings you to the cold and lonely rooftop tonight wearing what some might consider dressy clothing? Waiting for someone? I myself was on my way to take a break from the dank humidity of the castle, and much to my surprise you were here to brighten-up the evening."

Stepping away from him now Kat walked, well okay strutted a bit, over to a small couch. She stopped to look over her shoulder a few feet before her destination "Coming?" she asked as she whipped her head back around giving him the full effect of the "hair".
Settling herself to one side of the seat she took a minute to cross her ankles neatly, smooth her dress to just the right point above her knee and examine her nails before looking up to make sure he followed. "Boredom and lack of companionship" she told him in answer to his question "It seems I have a rare night alone and I was hoping to find someone to fill my time." she shrugged not bothering to tell him normal night time companion was a stuffed bear she kept on her bed "So I guess I got a little luck tonight too" she said coyly, remembering flattery was as important as anything else in this game.

He was just short of dowding over her. He knew she was quite a catch. She obviously had significant amounts of wit, and that was an important factor in his mind. Having his choice between brains and beauty, he'd take the brains. After all, who could stand having a conversation with someone who's I.Q. matched their shoe size. He followed her and sat in the couch, but not too close. In fact, on the opposite end of the couch, the better to see her.
"You lonely. Now that's a shame. An oversight that I hope to remedy." He had full intentions to fully rectifiy her lack of companionship. "So I'm a Fourth Year Gryffindor, and you?"

A slow smile spread over Kat's pretty face, giving her a little light in her eyes that not everyone got to see. This boy was on her level, an experience she had not enjoyed since she was 6, and Howie Wright had known just what color to make the house in their picture so it matched her dress. Of course a few years later he asked to borrow her dress, and tiara, so maybe he had been on her level a little too much. Looking Jacob over none to covertly, she was sure she would not have this issue with him. Sure he could brush his hair but surprisingly she found it's messy haphazardness more of an attraction then detraction. And he was by far better then that nasty boy and his lizard dragon thing she had found on the lawns last month.
"Well let's both hope for that then" she said as she leaned back a little and folded her hands over her knees "3rd year Slytherin, but I am thinking snakes and lions can play nice" she flashed him another smile upping the wattage just a bit "At least for now"

He knew that she had the potential to be extremely high maintenance, but wasn't sure if any commitment had really been proffered at this point. "I'll tell you what Kat, a lion and a snake can not only play *wink* nice together, they can be much more." He continued to let his smile do the heavy lifting along with his inviting eyes.
The warmth of the lounge was fleeting and wafts of much cooler air circulated, which could pose a potential problem for the lightly clad Kat.

Kat matched him smile for smile, look for look as the continued their little flirtation. Now, she knew though, was the time to decide just how she wanted this to go. She could get up and leave, making him follow her later. Or she could play it up a little more and make the evening just a bit more fun. Deciding on the later she adjusted herself on the sofa uncrossing and recrossing, thus moving her an inch or so closer to him. Then as she felt a little draft she gave a delicate shiver catching his eyes with hers "A little cold up here isn't it" she told him rubbing a hand over the arm closest to him while keeping his gaze.

He was comfortable as usual in his aviator jacket, but his warmth was definitely enough to share. He unzipped the bottom half of the jacket and opened it a little. With an inviting gaze he said, "You don't have to be cold. Come over, there's plenty of warm over here, and I'd love to share it with you." He wasn't just playing a game either. As the conversation elevated so did his temperature, and having something, or better said, someone to share the heat with would be great.

Kate smirked as he opened his jacket and invited her closer. Tempting as it was she did not go to boys for warmth...they brought it to her. "I am sure it is very warm over there" she purred prettily "But over there is so very far away" she told him sadly running her hand over the empty fabric next to her on the couch.
