Not only had Fitz looked at the ground, but the secret conversation was just the starting point for something much bigger and better for the afternoon in the snow.
He slowly leaned over and scooped-up two large handfuls of snow and began to pack them together while he stood back up. He'd been in plenty of snowball fights in his days, but not with too many older boys. The ball was nearly complete. The ball was packed into a throw-able mass, but would blast apart on contact. He knew exactly what he needed to do. After all his instructions where clear, and they had agreed that they could take him in a fair snowball battle. "It's up to us now Caerwyn."
He turned his attention back to Jacob, cocked back his arm, and let it go right at his face. "To arms. To arms." He pulled back and started to pack more ammunition.

While her Freddie was lobbing the first ball Caerwyn was working on getting a little pile of balls. Though her little hands made much smaller balls then Freddie's they were well packed and the perfect size for her to throw. Once she got a huge pile she tapped it with her wand muttering the perfect spell to make them glittery. Giggling she began her own tossing of balls ducking behind Freddie after each one.

Jacob was caught completely unprepared for the first ball of snow as it collided into his face with a puff of frozen water. He was ready for the next one though and did a standing back flip with a twist, and dove behind what little cover he could find.
A snowball fight they wanted then a snowball fight they'd get, he thought to himself as a new volley of smaller glittery balls struck his exposed back. He packed a few hasty snowballs together and attempted to return fire. "You'll get it now my pretties." He threw two at Fitz for real and a very soft throw at Caerwyn.

Fitz had never felt like he needed to defend someone during a snowball fight. Something must have changed to make him feel compelled to protect her even from the mostly harmless snowball.
He turned his back to the on-coming projectiles and helped Caerwyn make snowballs, letting her take them to return fire. "Here," he pointed at the new ammo, "I'll be the wall, and you throw."

Caerwyn took a quick second to brush the snow from her crimson locks before keeping up her fire. As Freddie turned to help and protect her she couldn't help but give her friendy a quick hug before continuing fire. Suddenly she stopped with a snowball posed mid throw "Oh Freddie I know!!!" she squealed excitedly before pulling her wand out and pointing it at the snow in front of them. As she spat out a quick spell a pink glittery wall of snow formed in front of them. Giggling she peeked around Freddie grinning and tossing another ball "Now we have you Tomaki-Sempai" she taunted calling him after a Character from Freddie and her new favorite show. Quickly she dropped to the ground pulling on Freddie's hand in an effort to get him to duck behind the wall with her.

A wall of pink glittery snow materialized just after his three snowballs landed into Fitz's back. Good thing there was a natural berm for Jacob to find cover behind. There was just enough room for half of his body to be totally protected. "Aagghh," he yelled as both of their volleys landed near his rear quarters. He got his riding goggles out of his jacket and put them on hastily. He got out his wand and let the wall have it, "Incendio." A fireball escaped the end of his wand and collided with the wall of snow, but did little but melt the exterior of the wall. He put the wand back, and looked for better cover.

As the wall materialized and Caerwyn pulled him down behind the hasty magical protection, a blast of fire collided with the wall. Jacob had given the wall a blast of fire, but the wall was thick enough and cold enough that only the surface was melted. He turned to Caerwyn to make sure she was uninjured, "are you alright?"
Fitz was ready with his magical retaliation, he spotted a drift of snow that looked particularly deep. He got his wand out and gave the swish and flick while saying, "Wingardium Leviosa." The mass of snow took flight and lumbered its way to hover over Jacob. He let the spell go and the flood of snow covered Jacob from head to toe.

"I'm okay thanks for checking" she told her friend with a quick hug because in her little world hugs were like punctuation, at they end of pretty much every sentence. "Are you..." her question was lost in her giggles as Freddie nailed Jacob with an entire snowbank. She clapped her little hands and pulled her own wand out for a little fun, sending a flock of glitter balls that fluttered like butterflies out to pelt Jacob. She did however stick her little head up to make sure everything was alright "Are you okaaaaaY" she called in her sing song little voice. She would feel awfully bad if he drowned in their snow, or got angry and left.

The mountain of snow floated from one side while he was looking the other way. It wasn't very heavy but he was totally covered. The snowball fight was far from over. He dug his way out of the pile and surfaced only to be hit repeatedly by glittery snowballs. The already large smile was doing nothing but growing as he tried to roll away to one side. He always enjoyed a challenge and this was turning into a big one.
When Caerwyn asked if he was alright he said, "best part of the day so far." he got up and ran for another berm.

Fitz knew he had to continue to put on the pressure in order to keep the pace going. He scooped up more snowballs and continued to throw as Jacob made for cover. His attempts were mostly unsuccessful, but at least he'd put the pressure on for the new location that Jacob had taken up. He tried to throw the snowballs like indirect fire from artillery. The snowballs got closer and closer to the edge of the berm.
"Well get you Tomaki Sempai," he yelled over the barrier.
He turned to Caerwyn and said, "I think we're winning."

"Gahhhh" Caerwyn gasped as a snow ball made it over the wall and landed on the back of her bent head slipping cold down her neck. She giggled as she tried brushing the cold snow away and kept up her little snow volley. "Oh I think so too Freddie" she said with a grin as she used her wand to make a little snow cloud above Jacobs head. This was a very fun game.

Jacob saw this one coming. It was the good old storm cloud over the head trick. He had to distract Caerwyn before the snow started falling. He raised his wand and cast, "Rictusempra," sending her in to a fit of tickles. While he threw a powerful wind blast at a bank of snow to cover his movement to a flanking position. "Deprimo," he said as the wind shot the snow lightly into the air between them. He sprinted to a drift to the side of their position where he could get a better shot with his snowballs. ((By the way this should be one of Caerwyn's standard spells. For a reference to this spell usage see link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_spells_in_Harry_Potter ))

When Caerwyn started laughing Fitz was distracted momentarily and his attempts to throw additional snowballs were thwarted by a powerful gust of wind that left him snow blind. She was wriggling too much and would be unprotected by the wall. So being the great friend that he was Fitz threw himself over her while trying to reposition the wall to block the possible new threat from Jacobs move. "Windgardium Leviosa," he said with a swish and flick that levitated the wall to provided more cover. "Sorry, Caerwyn, I don't know how to cancel the tickling charm yet." he tried to console her as the effects of the charm were still over her.

"Just....throw..." Caerwyn gasped out as she giggled and wiggled under Freddie's protective cover "More sno...wballs" she tried to hold still but ended up knocking her poor Freddie in the head with her arm "Ssssssorryyy" she gasped and giggled grabbing his head between her hands and trying hold it still so she could asses the damages. Of course she really just succeeded in rattling his little brains. Between gasps and giggles she managed to land a kiss on the bump and then let go. "Alr..ri..ri..ght All Beetttteeer" she told him "Throw m..m...m...ore balls!" she laid back, the tickling sensation seemed to be lessoning "We will still geeeet yooooou" she hollered at the top of her little lungs to Jacob.

With his head a little bumped, but not too bad, he got off of her and started throwing snowballs from the little pile near the wall. They were raining down like a never ending stream on Jacob's position. "I'm throwing."
