The days classes were droning on and Jacob needed to stop by the Great Hall for some lunch. He'd neglected his breakfast because of a need to finish some neglected homework.
He tossed his book-bag under the bench of the Gryffindor table near the door, piled a few sandwiches on his plate with some fruit, and sat down before the sustenance. The sandwich must have been freshly cut, because not even the tomatoes were running into the toasted wheat bread. He took a bite and enjoyed the crunchy goodness of crisp bacon and lettuce as they met the tender yet firm tomato and turkey. Jacob swallowed the bite and took a look around the room for familiar faces.

Fitz was eating happily in the Great Hall when he saw Jacob sit down near the end of the Gryffindor table and start piling food onto his plate. He got up and carried his plate of food down to sit across from him.
"Hey Jacob, you must be starving." he said pointing at the level of satisfaction on his face.

Carpetckedtright left right Celia thought to herself as she walked holding her plate. She had already spilled her drink, hence the moving, and did not wish to spill her Cottage Pie. She had almost made it to a new spot when her foot caught the rug and down she went, launching her plate toward the 2 boys at Gryffindor's table.
Not even attempting to get up she buried her head in her arms afraid to look and see what mess she made this time. Why did Grandmere's grace lessons never work? Had she not spent hours with a book on her head, broken hundreds of cups and saucers, and still she tripped. Turning her head she spoke through a curtain of dark hair "Did you know the term “carpet” derives from the Latin carpere, “to pluck,” probably because carpets were made from unraveled “plucked” fabric. “Carpet” has the same Latin root as carpe diem, literally “pluck/seize the day.” " She was glad they could not see her reddened face.

It was unexpected to get covered in the pie. Jacob set down his now gravy saturated sandwich, and turned to inspect the young girl who'd fallen. He quickly stood and tried to help her up as she spoke. How adorable was this precious little thing, he thought as she spoke in nervousness about the carpet and its etymology. "Are you alright princess? I hope you didn't injure yourself."
