Ohhh January. The start of a new year, a time for change, a time to reflect, a time to stay inside and cuddle up with your closest lady friend. This is what January meant for most of the students at the lovely school of Hogwarts. But for Cory January was just a time to eat cookies and pout about his lack of friends. Awww how sad... Nahhh it really wasn't that bad... Cookies are delicious!!!! And Cory wasn't really pouting...I mean friends come and they go (although it seems more "go" then "come" lately as students have been dropping like flies). But it was really nothing to be too upset over... there were always SOME people around the place. Surely there was someone he could pull a prank on and watch there face flush red and then walk back to the castle with them and get weird feelings in his stomach and get weird thoughts in his head and try to convey them but then get embarrassed and eventually go back to his own dorm room and do it all again the next day. ....actually there probably wasn't, as all of that pretty much describes one person. Kit Kierson.
He supposed he just missed her is all, missed her friendship. He hadn't heard from her at all since she left, which was a few months ago now. "Maybe I should write her a letter?" he asked himself aloud between bites of his chocolate chip cookie. Cory was currently walking the halls on his way back from the kitchen where he conveniently found the chocolate chip cookie he was currently eating. However, he was now regretting the decision as he had forgot milk. And what is a chocolate chip cookie without milk? That's right! It's worthless. But luckily Cory just happened to pass some random younger student who was holding a fresh little carton of milk.
Cory stopped in his tracks and stared at the milk in the boys hand longingly. Hmmmmm now how to get that milk into his own stomach. That is the predicament. After some thought, Cory decided to approach the boy with a plan. "Yah know kid...I wouldn't drink that if I were youuu." He said quietly and looked around secretively. The boy merely stared as Cory continued, getting closer and closer to him as his voice continued to lower. "Yah see....word around town is they've been poisoning that there milk...And when boys go to drink it...they turn into.......into.....GIRLS!" He added wide-eyed and nodded for emphasis. "Buuuut don't worry I'll take it off your hands!" He shouted, snatching the milk up and then just making a run for it. He ran all the way up to the owlery, giggling all the way. He stopped outside of the owlery and sat down leaning against the wall to catch his breath.
"It's like taking milk from a first year!....Ohh actually that's precisely what it was like." he said aloud and chuckled to himself. The he preceded to take the last bite of his cookie and downed the whole little carton of milk in one big gulp. "ahhhh refreshing...now time to write this letter." He pulled out some pieces of parchment and a quill as he began to write his first attempt at a letter.
"...Wait that sounds so formal as if we are like business parters or something..." He crumpled up the piece of paper and started again.
"Nooo Nooo Nooo that sounds like a love letter from the 16th century. Gahhhh."
"....What the hell when do I ever call her Kitty Cat?...Why would anybody ever say that...EVER??? Ugghhhhhh!" He crumpled the paper up angrily throwing it down the hallway. This should not be this difficult, he thought to himself.
".....It'll do..."Cory mumbled to himself and continued on.
".....HOWS IT HANGING???" He smacked his palm to his forehead as he crumpled up yet another piece of parchment. They were now sitting in clumps littered throughout the hallway. But now he was sadly down to his last parchment soooo he really had to choose his words carefully this time.
"Good start." He mumbled and began to remember the last time he saw her. He wondered how much of that night Kit remembered...or if she remembered any of it at all....
"No they haven't....why am I writing that... things have been boring and miserable.."
He thought about there last few Yule Ball experiences and realized the Yule Ball was probably not the best topic of discussion... He hoped one year to have a Yule Ball that both he and Kit would enjoy together... maybe even go as more than friends....But that was also not a great topic of discussion...
He started to wonder while she was home all this time if she'd be seeing any of Paul... this thought was not a pleasant one. I mean he knew Kit pretty much hated the guy now that he turned out to be a total dragon dung face! But...yah know... well... you never know....
"......DID I JUST WRITE LOVE???" Cory shouted and stared at the paper. He wasn't even thinking about it... he just wrote it.... had he been thinking about it he would've put "sincerely" or something like that. He immediately put his quill back to the parchment and wrote a P.S. at the bottom.
Cory put his face into his hands, disappointed by the complete awkwardness of his letter. But it was the last parchment he had and he came all the way up here. "...Welp looks like its getting sent anyways." He shrugged and marched into the owlery to find a complimentary school owl. He had his own owl but to be honest he never really used it and for the most part he forgot even what it looked like. He rarely sent or received mail. Finally finding one he gave it the letter and began a small pep talk. "Alright listen here owl... I want a full report when you get back... I want you to tell me what she looked like....what she was wearing...what her facial expressions were as she reads this... everything... Sooo you better pay attention... Alright now go on! Go enjoy the hunt for the amazing Kit Kierson." Lucky frickin' bird. If only owls could truly talk and he could really get that full report. Ohh well, he sighed and continued to watch the owl fly off into the distance.

Dear Kit,
"...Wait that sounds so formal as if we are like business parters or something..." He crumpled up the piece of paper and started again.
My Dearest Kit,
"Nooo Nooo Nooo that sounds like a love letter from the 16th century. Gahhhh."
Heyyyyyy Kitty Cat,

How's it hanging?

Heyyy Kit,
Haven't heard from you in a while. I thought I'd write you and see how you were doing. I hope everything is going well. How is your brother? I hope he has gotten better. I hope you can read my hand writing, I know I'm not the best. Things around here have been great!

I miss you, a little, sort of, sometimes, a lot. There wasn't a Yule Ball this year.

Not that, it matters. I mean, you should stay there. Yah know, with family, and everything. But I didn't know if maybe you, might know, when you might, yah know, be back or whatever.

Sooo have you, met up with anyone, recently? Not that it matters, just figured you might be, yah know, meeting up with old neighbors and hanging out, or having fun and stuff or whatever. I've been doing some really fun stuff too. Yah know, like, swimming and stuff. Well, it's winter so not like real swimming, like pretend swimming. Yeah. Pretend swimming, it's awesome. Soooo yeah I hope to hear from you soon. Yah know, if you have time or whatever. I sort of miss you once in a while, occasionally. I think I already wrote that, but yeah. So bye!
Love,
