Rosie opened the door and stepped out on the roof. She walked to the edge and looked down over the school waiting for Cody to join her. As she waited she thought over how much of her life had happened here on this roof, how many kisses, the start of relationships, the end of them. The giggles and games, the tears shed here. Somehow this place seemed right for the conversation she knew was about to happen.
Reaching up she absent mindedly began unpinning and unwinding her long long curls setting the free to land about her shoulders and tumble down her back. She knew somehow the next hour would be a very important one in her life. Decisions would be made here, true feelings uncovered. As she listened for footsteps behind her she closed her eyes and wished on a star...

It was a beautiful night. The sky was as clear as could be, and the moon was full and shining through the corridor windows, smacking Cody in the face. As he approached the roof, Cody stopped about three stairs from the door. He was nervous. He knew what awaited him just a few feet away. The most beautiful thing that ever graced Cody's life. Rosamund Kynward. He sighed and looked down at his shoes. As he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, he pushed the door in front of him open, and approached the love of his life.
She was overlooking the school from the edge of the roof. He didn't want to scare her, but he really didn't want her to see him either. He slowly walked over next to her, and slid his hand into hers. He peered over the edge and overlooked the school. It looked just the same as it did almost a decade ago. Nothing had changed.. Except him. "Beautiful, isn't it?" he whispered, turning to look her in the face. He unveiled a nervous smile, but looked straight into her beautiful eyes. Nothing had changed about her either. He loved her just as much as he did before.. Could she say the same about him?

Then she heard his feet behind her, his footsteps soft and heavy at the same time, as though even they felt the gravity of the situation before them. With in seconds he was beside her, his hand slipped in to hers. And she found her own fingers instinctively curling around his, not pulling away as she had figured she might.
As he spoke she turned her small pale face to his, and as she found him looking in to her eyes, she saw something she was forced to think about everyday. Something perhaps in the shape or size she was never really sure, something reflected in the little face she had looked at for the last 12 years. The one part of her little daughter that was not an exact carbon copy of her, but was instead a reflection of her father. Something so tiny she doubted most even noticed. But she did.
It was that, that made her smile at him. Her heart still unsure of what lay ahead but for the first time that evening, it was truly open to him. "So." she started her voice cracking a little, "now would be a very good time to explain" She meant to pull back so she could watch him as he spoke but again her body had a mind of its very own. She found herself moving forward, almost desperately wrapping her arms around him and laying her red head on his chest. There she stayed waiting to see if he would return her embrace, waiting to hear the words he had for her.
