After studying for several hours the day before, and packing some supplies for the outing, Fitz set out across the grounds toward the Forbidden Forest. Fitz was looking for ingredients for some tea. He knew that there were some exceptionally rare specimens in the Forbidden Forest that couldn’t be found elsewhere, but he would be happy with some more common varieties too. He was dressed in a surplus British Military forest camouflage service uniform (Battle Dress Uniform or BDU), complete with hat, cold weather coat and boots.
The forest loomed in the distance with its distinctive white caps and lack of snow on the forest floor. As he approached he could see animal tracks coming and going from the forest line.

It had felt like such a long time since Amber had went around the castle. She strolled through the corridors, passing students and ghosts. It was definitely great being back at Hogwarts, smelling familiar things, eating the amazing food, hearing the muttering of spells people would do in between classes in the corridors when they weren’t supposed to. She gave a long sigh and stopped at one of the windows and looked out into the grounds. And for the first time in a long time, saw the lake glistening and the trees of the Forbidden Forest looking as gloomy as ever. Students weren’t allowed in the forest, of course, but Amber could remember many times that people went in there anyway, despite dangerous creatures or man-eating plants (if there were any).
Amber looked out a moment longer and decided, to hell with rules! She was going to go check out the forest to see how much it has changed – if it has at all, that is. Deciding that what she was wearing at the moment probably wasn’t the best attire to wear outside, she went back to her dormitory quickly and put on something a lot warmer. She then headed off to the grounds, carrying her scarf and gloves inside the castle, before putting them on just as she headed outside and zipping up her winter jacket. Amber then walked towards the forest, her boots thudding against the ground.
Amber arrived closer to the forest, when she noticed someone ahead of her in the distance. They too, appeared to be going into the forest. Amber smiled to herself. Yes, students were still going in and out of the forest just like in her early years at Hogwarts. Amber walked faster to catch up to the person, wondering why they were going into the forest. They looked young and the Slytherin thought that perhaps they just wanted to investigate what the forest was like.
She felt like scaring the child. She always liked terrifying the younger kids, the looks on their faces when you tell them to look out for thestrals or dementors. “You know,” Amber said loudly, so that the person could hear her, “you aren’t allowed to go in there. Of course, feel free to. But you just need to watch out for werewolves and acromantula.”

Fitz was just about to enter the forest and escape the snow-laden lawn that surrounded the castle, when he heard foot falls some distance back he was ready for the voice that accompanied them. Fitz stopped and turned around while listening to her. He’d heard loads of rumors about what mysteries lay hidden in the ‘Forbidden Forest’ but he had dismissed all of them as pure speculation, since none of them had actually been in the forest. He smiled at her attempt to dissuade him from the trip. “Just werewolves and acromatula? well if that’s all then maybe it’s not worth going in. I may be a first year, but if there dragons and giants I’d still go in. Besides, you look to be a couple years older than me. You don’t really believe all those rumors?” Skepticism had fueled his nonchalant attitude to adventure for the precious ingredients.
