Autumn was happy as she strolled down the hall. She was almost a second year, there was a possibility that she would become a prefect, and she had gotten a good night's sleep. She hadn't been the past few nights because of her exams. Since she was a firstie, she didn't know what the exams were like. And she didn't want to get an owl from her mom, telling her how dissapointed she was in Autumn's grades on them. If they sent them home. Again, Autumn had no idea how this thing worked. She was anxious for these darn things, but she wanted to be a second year, too. People always looked down on her for being a firstie, and figured things would get better as a second year. Not saying that her first year hasn't been awesome. She's met a bunch of firstie friends, and a lot of older friends. And she's learned a bunch about her family, too. It turns out that her father was a decendant of the Black family, though a grandparent of theirs was disowned for marrying a Muggle. Autumn thought that was funny, since Muggles are sort of cool, in a way. And they go through so much, seeing as they have no magical abilites. So sad.
But it was a SATURDAY. So everything was all good for now. :]
Autumn continued her stroll when she realized that she had to practice her Charm for the exams. She sat down in a corner and aimed her wand towards a piece of stone on the floor, yelling "Aguamenti!" A jet of water flew out of her wand and quickly evaporated on the area of stoen that it landed on. She grinned, figuring she would practice it more in a minute. Then Autumn sat back against the wall, in peace in quiet.

The halls were relatively quiet as Simon strolled through them. His moccasins made a soothing tap sound as he walked. Having nowhere to go and no one to talk to, the boy pulled his ipod out of his pocket and scrolled through the vast assortment of artists, singling in on his favorite (late) American singer, Elliott Smith. He picked a slow song and put his headphones in. He put the device back into his pocket and quietly whistled along.
Simon extracted a notebook and quill from his shoulder bag and began to write as he walked. His leather-bound journal was filled with thoughts, ideas, rants, poetry, lyrics, letters, and evaluations. The boy scratched down a line from the song he was listening to, and as he approached the last letter, he dropped the quill. "Damn," he muttered under his breath. He bent down and picked it back up, finished the sentence, and returned the journal to it's natural habitat.
His rather uneventful yet soothing walk had been interrupted with a spray of water to the face. He immediately took two steps back, wobbling on his scrawny legs. Simon wiped the water away from his face and smoothed his bangs back into place. Unaware of what caused the sudden burst of water, he panicked slightly until he saw a fellow student sitting below.
He furrowed his eyebrows and removed the headphones, leaving them around his neck. "You s- you scared me." He told the girl, studying her face. She had soft eyes and hair as his own, except clean. Simon walked forward a little bit, but not too far. He had always been shy, nay... afraid of strangers.

Autumn looked at the boy and bit her cheek when he said that the water had hit him. "Sorry, I had to practice a charm for Charms. It's for the exams." She bit her cheek and looked back at the ground. After a while he was still standing there. Autumn thought that he was mad at her, but I guess not. "You can sit down if you want." She said, looking up with a small smile.

Simon smiled weakly as the girl motioned him to sit down. He slung his bag off of his shoulder and onto the ground as he sat. He swiftly moved the hair out of his eyes and checked the floor around him for any remaining water. All clear.
He looked back up at the girl and decided to strike conversation, hoping to make at least one friend here. "I'm Simon." He said as confidently as he could. The boy itched his leg, trying to break the awkwardness.

Autumn looked back down for some reason. She propped her legs so that her feet were flat and her knees were in the air. She looked up and listened to the boy introduce himself, seeming a little unsure. "I'm Autumn." She said it normally, but didn't want to scare him by seeming too... out there. Or something like that.
