One of the places at Hogwarts Ivy had been most keen to see was the library. She'd found all of the other important places already, where the food was served, where the bathrooms were etc etc, she decided it was high time to finally find the library.
Trouble with the school still being so quiet was that there was never anybody around to ask for directions when you needed them so Ivy kind of had to play it by ear and go off of what she could remember from her brother Kisten explaining things about the school. The library hadn't come up in conversation much, Ivy wasn't surprised he probably hardly ever went there but he knew where it was and that was the important part.
It took her some time to remember what he'd said, she often did tend to tune him out when he spoke especially when he was younger, and took about half and hour of wandering the school corridors and staircases until she finally manged to find the place.
"Wow!" She exclaimed, open mouthed as she entered the room and took in its vastness stacked floor to ceiling with shelves upon shelves of books. "Ok I don't care if I can never find my way back to the dormitories again, I'd be happy to live in here." She said aloud, wondering where she should start in her quest for knowledge.

The school term had not even started but for some reason, his mother decided it would be good for him to visit the school before then and drag him along with her to see the school. In her words; to help him familiarize with the place before school starts. Of course, at the end, he was left alone, stalking around the school as his mother and one of the professors started to have a discussion. He wasn't sure what any of it was about; it wasn't as if he was paying any attention. Adults and their business were none of his concern; they always talked about the same thing anyway. Bored and out of his mind, Jaeha decided to sneak out, leaving his mother and her friend discussing about the Ministry policies (Really?!), he had just about enough with the whole conversation that felt like it was set on loop.
There was just one flaw in his plan of escape - Jaeha had never been to Hogwarts before and knew close to nothing about the school structure. Sure, he had heard the stories about the kitchen and tickling fruits or something, but, let's be honest here, it wasn't as if someone drew him a map and made him study every inch of the place. Stuck in the eerie cold school when every other kids were still out and about spending the remainder of their summer in high spirits Jaeha could only sigh and wander around, hoping to find an exit. After about six half empty classroom, slammed doors and lucky escape from some silly creature, Jaeha found himself standing in a room filled with rows and rows of books - The library. He was just about to turn back and head off, libraries were never his thing, but, a voice stopped him. He turned back, finally spotting a girl standing not too far from him.
Nerd. He taunted in his head. "I don't think they'd let just anyone bunking in the library," He called easily.

Ivy was drawn out of her awe inspired gazing around the massive library by a voice that had seemed to come from nowhere. She frowned, not seeing anybody else in there with her and realising far too late not to feel foolish that he must be standing behind her.
She turned around, placed her hands on her hips and tossed her long red hair behind her shoulders. "Hmph, like they'd ever be able to find someone staying in this place, it's huge!" She replied a little snappily. Ivy wasn't sure she'd liked the tone he'd spoken in.
"I didn't think there was anyone else in here, the school's so quiet at the moment." She went on with a shrug, realising how speaking to herself must have seemed a little strange. "So what are you doing in here then? You don't look the bookish type."

Feisty; Jeaha thought privately as a smirk touched his lips. "Who knew, those Librarians might have superpowers," He joked easily. There was no reason to provoke the girl and he was slightly apologetic that he was being quite a git earlier, but, he wasn't about to apologize either. Who asked her to stand in the middle of a creepy library talking to herself anyway? He protested in his head. "They could probably find you in a heartbeat," He added seriously. Though, he wasn't really sure. The girl was right, the place was amazingly huge and it was surprising how anyone could keep it together, then again, it was a library in a magic school, he bet that some magic were involved in keeping the place together. Maybe he would figure it out someday, but, in the meantime he'll just save himself the headache.
You don't look the bookish type. Alright, so Jaeha definitely wasn't a big reader but he did read enough to get by and there were better things to do other than to read anyway. He shouldn't be offended, but... "I didn't realize there's a look for those who read," He mumbled, a hint of irritation laced his tone. It should be nothing but, it sounded like the girl was implying that he was an idiot who had never read in his life. That was just... Insulting. "And if you must know, I was exploring," He added just as coldly, crossing his arms over his chest. Well, he was lost, but, the girl didn't need to know that. He was sure he could find the way back to the professor's office without a problem - he had a plan...

"Well, they can probably do magic I suppose. Unless they employ squibs to be the librarians here." Ivy suggested, "But superpowers?" She said disbelievingly, arching her eyebrows, "Wouldn't have thought so." Ivy loved libraries but even she wouldn't choose to work in one, and esepcially not if she happened to have super powers.
Ivy shrugged, "Not for those who just 'read'" She added, employing her fingers to signify the quotation marks around the word read. "But for the people who would spend hours in a library just for something to do... you don't look like that type." Ivy explained.
She realised by the boys reply that he seemed to think she was insulting him. While she may have been being snippy she wasn't labeling him an idiot, not yet anyway she was the judgemental type and stupidity was one of those things she looked out for in people, particularly boys as they seemed to be remarkably prone for it.
"You look like you'd use a library when you needed to, to research homework or something, not just because you felt like it." Ivy nodded, yeah that about summed it up.
He'd explained that he was exploring and she made a silent 'oh' with her lips and nodded, well that made sense. "Fair enough, I take it you're new here too then?"

Jaeha shook his head. It was obvious that the girl can't take a joke. Of course Jaeha wasn't stupid enough to think that some sort of superhuman worked the library. But, he'd like to assume that those, whoever they are, who did run the library must have some knowledge of magic and able to practice it somehow. At least, he'd like to think so. As for the truth, he didn't know much about it. "I didn't realize there are 'types' either,' Jaeha stated simply. He wasn't much into categorizing people or making assumptions. "But, yeah, I'm not going to call the library my second home," He added boringly. He never understood how people could spend hours in the library, people like his father and older sister. He would just go mad over the thought of remaining idle just to read and read. It had to be the most boring thing to do.
"Firs-" Jaeha started and stopped. He wasn't exactly a first year... Yet... "I'm starting next September," He said, correcting his statement. "Just coming in to see the school before then," He offered.

Ivy shruged, "There are types, I guess you only see it if you are the sort to hang around a library just for the fun of it." Or maybe that was just the way people appeared in Ivy's overly organised brain, categorized into their own little sections...yeah that could be what it was, but it wasn't like she was about to admit that out loud to the boy he already probably thought her a weird nerdy bookworm, no reason to give him any more ammunition to that fact.
Though she did have to smile smugly when he admitted he wasn't about call the library his favourite place to visit. She knew it, but she wasn't going to gloat either, she could have a little more class than that, plus the smug smile probably said it all for her.
"Ah," She said as he explained what he was doing there. "Me too, well sort of. Though the term can't start soon enough in my opinion. Any idea what house you're going to be in yet?"

Jaeha nodded, come to think of it, he knew the type. He actually lived with two of them; his father and older sister. "Right..." He stated calmly, trying not to laugh at the memory of his sister going on a rampage after he poured honey all over her books - in his defense, he was four at the time. You can't really blame a child for acting like a child, though, Jaeha never really grow up in the first place. "I think I'd prefer to call the kitchen my second home," Jaeha added catching the smug smile on the girl's face. Well, she can consider him a pig for all he cares. He wasn't going to turn down any food offer over protecting his pride. That was stupid and he would rather not go hungry.
"House?" Jaeha asked, but, it was obvious it was a rhetorical question. "Not sure, anything would be alright, I guess," He added. "Well, anything other than Slytherin," He continued quickly. Truthfully, he had nothing against the house. It was just that he had an encounter that basically made him pray really hard not to end up in Slytherin. Nothing to do with the house reputation at all. Besides, he thought if he did get into Slytherin, he would just laugh it off. "And you?" He asked in turn. "Any idea which house you'd get into?" He added, clarifying his question.

Kitchen, yeah Ivy figured that sounded like your typical boy. Her little brother practically lived in the kitchen, and her older brother had been much the same when he was younger, they were always eating something. She thought boys needed the extra energy to make their brains work, obviously girls were just generally far cleverer and didn't need it.
She didn't say any of this though, she just nodded to the boy in agreement that the kitchen was more of his second home than anywhere like a library would be. Seemed he did understand her theory about 'types' of people.
"I'll probably be a Gryffindor, my Dad and brother were both Gryffindor's and I heard families quite often get sorted into the same house. But I wouldn't mind really, though I guess you're right, maybe not too keen on Slytherin doesn't seem like my sort of house."

Jaeha nodded as the girl shared her family history. "Oh, I don't know, my mother was a Hufflepuff," He stated easily, remembering how her mother talked about being in such a lovely house during her school days. It sounded like it would be fun to be sorted into the house, then again, he wasn't sure if he was much of a Hufflepuff. From the stories his mother had told him, Hufflepuff sounded like a house that compromises a lot with members who are loyal. No, don't get him wrong, Jaeha was loyal, but, to a point. He wouldn't put his life on blind faith alone. He would ask questions and such. But, he could be loyal - and foolish. "But, my sister was a Ravenclaw," He added - remembering his nerd of a sister.
"So, I guess, I don't know," Jaeha stated. "My family had been all over and there was never really just one house. "I have no problem with Slytherin though," He added, trying to explain his lack of interest in the house. "It was just my recent encounters had left me quite, uneasy, of the house," He continued. To be honest, Slytherin house didn't sound all too bad. Of course, there was the whole reputation of producing dark wizards, but, he was sure there were some from every house as well. "But, if I do get sorted into Slytherin, I'm fine with it," He said sincerely.

"Oh really, that's strange. I always thought most families got sorted into the same house, kind of a family trait thing." Ivy said interestedly, the sorting was something that fascinated her. I mean how did a hat know where you were supposed to spend your school life?
"Guess your family must all be serious individuals then." Ivy said, scrunching her nose with how that sounded. Of course everyone was an 'individual'. She shook her head, "No, that's not quite what I mean....ah, very different personality wise...?" Yeah that sounded better.
"Oh you had a issue with someone from Slytherin?" Ivy said, genuinely interested. Or I suppose you could call it nosey. "What happened? Must have been bad if it put you off the house, I mean if you genuinely didn't have anything against it because of its reputation and all that."

"I thought it was quite normal," Jaeha replied. Never in his life was he ever referred to as 'strange' even if it was unintentional. He wasn't sure whether he should be offended or not, it wasn't as if it was meant as an insult - at least he didn't think it was. "I think it was more of what a person is instead of his or her family," He added. He wasn't sure about the sorting himself, it was a bit of a blur and he tried not to rationalize it much. It would be a hassle to go back and look through the family tree if he even wanted to try to understand it. At least, for Jaeha, it didn't matter much which house he would be sorted in as long as the members will not be trying to kill him. Inter-house competition is good; inner however, is a headache. He was not looking forward for any itching powder of sorts.
"Individuals?" Jaeha asked - he was amused. "You can say that," He added. Saying that his family members are 'serious individuals' would be putting it mildly. They were so different that it was always a wonder how they came to be a family. He was nothing like his parents - some, like looks confirms that they were genetically related. But, personality-wise, they are their own person. "We tend to go our own way," He added, wondering how on earth his family managed all these years.
"Well..." Jaeha trailed off. "I wouldn't say I have an issue with anyone from Slytherin," He tried to explain. How does anyone explain a girl scare them off? "Let's just say that I have been involuntarily volunteered into an agreement," He added - way to be vague, but he would rather not explain. "But, the house reputation is nothing to me, people make their own choices," He said.

Ivy shrugged, "Well, I don't know then maybe it is normal. Yes the sorting is generally all about the individual person, I know not every family member is put into the same house but I suppose if you share a lot of the same traits then whole families will all be together." Ivy felt like she was babbling slightly, but the sorting was some really fascinating magic in her opinion.
"I mean look at the Weasley's, they were all Gryffindors, but I suppose they were all pretty similar personality wise. If, like you say all your family are actually quite different then you might be different to the others." She shrugged again, as much as she wouldn't like to admit it Ivy was quite a lot like her family, both her father and older brother Kisten had been Gryffindors and she was fully expecting to join them.
"Oh right, I get you... Well, sort of anyway." Ivy said as the boy explained his 'issue' with the Slytherin he had encountered. "But sure, reputation isn't everything, there have been good Slytherin's as well as bad ones I just don't think it fits my personality."
Ivy looked around her, realising that they'd actually been talking for quite a long time now, she wondered if the boy was in a hurry to get back to his parents. "Well, I suppose I better go, been hanging around in here long enough and guess I'll have plenty of time once the term starts. Maybe I'll see you in Gryffindor." She said brightly with a grin and she waved to the boy as she headed for the exit to the library.
((Sorry to cut off abruptly there, just kind of weird to still be rping before the start of term when it's underway.))
