Peter gasped for air as he crawled into the Rooftop Lounge. How did this school have that many stairs? He was exhausted. Catching his breath, he somehow managed to lift his legs up one by one into a nearby chair. He sighed, kicking off his shoes and stretched back. Finally, a large grin spread across Peter's face. The massive climb was worth it in the long run. Now he could relax. He turned his chair to face the sunset before him, and grinned. He watched a few birds fly around chasing each other..
Peter longed for a friend.. He'd been at Hogwarts for a couple of months now, and he'd hardly met anyone. The birds he'd just witnessed reminded him of his childhood days, when he would chase his friends around the forest or play tag with his cousins. Now he was lonely as ever. Sinking into his chair, Peter tried not to be too bummed. He'd came to the lounge to be lazy, but now he was just bored. He sighed and reclined back in his chair, wishing there were other students as lazy as him.

Kait didn't know what had possessed her to go to the roof, as she was scared of heights. Well, scared of being on top of a height; she could appreciate views. She was mainly curious - she'd never been anywhere near the roof before. Still, the climb up the stairs was an effort and after several minutes she wondered if she should just give up and slide down the banister back down again.
But Ravenclaws persevere. So that was how Kaity ended up slightly out of breath, hesitantly inching her way out onto the rooftop. What she didn't expect to see, however, was another kid. She felt like she knew him somehow... Of course!
"Hey! You're that Thatcher kid, aren't you? I saw you being sorted! I clapped," Kaity laughed, "I'm Kaitlyn Brooks, but you can call me Kaity."
It was then that she decided to take the plunge and go and sit down. Without actually looking anywhere but straight ahead of her and at the Thatcher boy.

Peter tapped the chair he was sitting in, in an annoyed sort of way. He had a puckered look on his face, as if he'd just finished a lemon. The loneliness had turn into frustration, then into some boredom, then back into some frustration again. Maybe Peter would just sit in his dorm room all day, studying his books, rather than waste his time being lonely anywhere else. If he was going to be alone for 7 long years, he could at least do something productive right?
It was just when Peter was about to get up to leave did he see the girl before him. She was about his age, maybe a little older, judging by her height. She looked faintly familiar, but Peter couldn't guess where from. He did notice her badge. A fellow Ravencalw, how delightful! He listened to her voice, and smiled. "Hey Kaity! Yupp, Peter Thatcher, that's me," he beamed. He smiled as she took a seat. If he didn't stop grinning, she would notice how much he actually did enjoy her company.
"Thanks for clapping for me during the ceremony! I was afraid I'd hear some cricket chirping," he giggled. Maybe he could play it cool. "Sorry I took my shoes off.. That walk up here was killer! I didn't think anyone else would be brave enough to make the journey."

This school needs a map! Randy was absolutely, positively, no-doubt-about-it lost. He had just left the Gryffindor common room and set out in search for the Owlery, but took a couple--several--wrong turns and now was wandering about for the better half of an hour. In this instance, Randy found himself practically crawling up a staircase headed towards what he prayed to be the place he was looking for. At the top of the staircase, he paused for a moment to brace himself, because already more than once he came across strange things behind strange doors. He thrust the door open, accidentally dropping his letter in the process. What was behind this particular door simply amazed him.
He entered an entirely glass room, with a few couches and such. The sunset was simply perfect. He stood in awe for a bit before he noticed there were people in the room. Seeing them startled him, but he quickly regained composure and walked over to them.
"Hello!" He said amiably, slightly waving. He then noticed that they were a boy and a girl, and they were sitting together. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt!" He laughed. "I was just wondering if you could direct me to the Owlery?" He asked, motioning towards his letter..which wasn't in his hands as he thought. He looked around, not seeing it anywhere and realized it had positively disappeared.

"Well it's mighty nice to meet you, Peter Thatcher!" Kaity said. She noticed he was grinning like an idiot - and trying to hide it. Did she really have that effect on people? Oh, well, maybe he was just really bored.
"Haha, yeah, I was really scared when I got sorted. There were hardly any people and I was worried that maybe I'd just have to talk a walk of shame to a table!"
Kaity smiled as he apologised for taking his shoes off. To demonstrate how completely laid back she was, she reached down and unlaced her own, taking them off and laying them down neatly on the ground. Of course, she would have to have a small hole in the toe of her tights, wouldn't she? But oh well, she didn't really care and she didn't really think Peter would either.
"Yeah, the stairs were a bit of a nightmare. Though I suppose little girls are supposed to be hyper anyway, and the amount of caffeine I've had..."
It was then another boy came in, this time a Gryffindor, probably first year. He apologised for interrupting - wait, interrupting?
"You're not really interrupting anything, we're just chilling out here!"
The boy then said something about the owlery and sending a letter.
"Well, I've never actually been there myself, but I'm pretty sure it's down that corridor, down the first flight of stairs and then across the bridge. Only about a 5 minute walk if you're hasty." She explained. She watched the boy fumble, probably trying to find his letter.
"Erm, have you lost it?" Kaity said. "The letter, I mean!" She added, blushing.

Peter jumped as he heard another person enter the lounge. Another student! He smiled at the boy, who was obviously lost, then blushed when he interjected that he was interrupting something. "Oh no, you're looking for the owlery? I'm pretty sure it's somewhere around here.. We are on the roof," he shrugged. He didn't really know what he was talking about, he was just striking conversation at this point.
He listened to Kaity explain to the boy where the owelry was actually located. Boy was she smart! Peter smiled at the girl. He noticed that she had taken her shoes off and joined him in shoelessness. He giggled. "Now all we need are some blankets!" he stated, nodding to the rain beginning to pour down outdoors. "I love watching the storm! Say, one you find your letter, you should come and join us," he called back at the Gryffindor boy. He then realized his rudeness. "I'm sorry, do you need help finding it?" he asked.

Randy was still looking for his letter as the girl gave him directions. He really couldn't find it and felt quite dumb. "Thanks so much, but I really don't think I'll be going anymore.." He sighed, and turned around to face them. "Yes, I do quite think I've lost it!" He laughed lightly, trying to hide his embarrassment. "It's okay, I'll just write another, it wasn't very important." He said to the boy, accepting his invitation to sit with them.
He pulled a chair over to them, but introduced himself before he sat down. "I'm Randy, by the way." He said, offering his hand. "What're your names?" He asked politely, oblivious to the fact that he was probably cockblocking pretty hard.

(OOC: I just have to say that I LOLd so freakin' hard about the cockblocking comment. Even though we are supposed to be 11 years old =P)
Kait noticed Peter looking at her in almost awe when she was explaining how to get to the owlery and grinned. Had he never met a girl before or something?
When it started to rain, most likely going to start storming very soon, Kaity felt super excited. She loved storms, even though her mother had always told her to hide in a cellar when they happened.
"Yeah, you should totally join us if you aren't busy with the whole letter-sending thing." Kaity said to the Gryffindor boy, "But are you sure it wasn't important? I'd say it's probably near the stairs, and you might not want other people reading it. Have you tried accio?"
When the boy came and sat down and introduced himself as Randy, Kait was awestruck. "That's the name of my cousin! I haven't actually ever met another Randy! Oh, I'm Kaitlyn, by the way. And this is Peter."
