One night, Kaity made an irrational, impulsive decision. Blinded by insatiable curiosity, she thought it would be a good idea to sneak out and go poke around the Forbidden Forest. Because, you know, every eleven year old girl could fight off the monsters that lurk in it. She hadn't planned anything, and it was probably the worst snap decision of her life, but she couldn't help herself.
That was why, at midnight, she quietly walked across the ground, luminous wand in one hand and spare coat in the other. She was slightly worried about somebody seeing the light, or hearing the crunch of her shoes on the grass, but she was already out, and didn't the old saying go 'I've come this far, there's no turning back?'
When Kaity finally reached the forest, she felt a nervous thrill - an adrenaline rush. God it felt good. Biting her lip to hide the wicked grin she could barely contain, she tiptoed into the forest, breaking into a run when she knew she was definitely out of earshot.
Ten minutes passed. She'd found herself quite deep in the forest, but it was so much fun! Well, 'fun', meaning 'immensely scary.' There were so many trees, and they were so tall! There was a nice kind of fresh smell in the air, and there were so many interesting things around. She was having so much fun! Until...
Wait. Was that a rustle? Something definitely moved in that bush! She panicked.
"Hello!?" She called out multiple times. She heard a rustling again, this time from behind her. She quickly turned around.
And let out a blood-curdling scream.

Christina woke up from a bad nightmare about her mom dying she could steal hear her mom screaming, she had tears in her eyes and was shaking with sweat. She wiped the tears from her eyes and got out of bed to get a glass of water when she noticed that her ferret Baxter was missing from his cage. She was going to half to improve the lock again this wasn't the first time he had managed to work the lock open with his crafty little paws.
She put on her robe quietly so to not wake any of the other girls in her room and took out her wand and said "Luminos" to get some light. Thats when she noticed that her trunk was open and the contents all spilled everywhere. Baxter had gotten in her trunk and went after the cookies she had in it he loved chocolate chip cookies. There was a big mess everywhere thats when she saw that he had broken her glass container of yellow paint she had for making Hufflepuff signs. There were was a big spot of paint and a trail of his footprints out the door of the girls dormintory. She used her wand to clean up the big spot of spilled paint and then started to follow the trail
She followed the trail out of the girls dormintory and and down the stairs to the Hufflepuff Common room and out the door into the castle. Great she though he better not get me in trouble for being out in the castle after hours. She had always been one to follow rules carefully and so this was quite irritating to her. For the next 30 minutes she followed his trail down stairs, up stairs , till finally they led to outside the castle.
She was glad she had her robe on at least and she was following his trail outside it was around midnight and their was a full moon out. She was happy for the moon being out that meant at least more light to see with though other things came out with full moons. She followed his trail for the next 15 minutes noticing it was getting close to the Forbidden Forest. Students were prohibted from entering it and besides she heard of all the awful things in there. She felt scared about going into the forest but she loved her pet ferret Baxter and so she decided she would keep going. Just as she was about to enter the forest when she heard a blood-curdling scream .
She stopped dead in her tracks her body shaking from nervousness it sounded like a girls scream. She ran after the direction of the girls scream as fast as she could into the forest. The path Baxter had left seemed to go int he same direction of the scream and after about 5 minuts of running she saw a girl standing still who look scared out of her mind.
Then she heard a rustle and and something jumped right on her back. She screamed really loudly till the thing that jumped on her back crawled around to her front and she realized it was Baxter.
"Baxter you scared the bejeezus out of me and you had me so worried," she hugged him noticing the yellow paint on his paws. "you don't run away again like this you hear me." she said looking straight into Baxters eyes. Christina turned and looked at the girl who had been standing their looking like she seen a ghost. "Hi i'm Christina are you ok I heard you scream and I came running this is my pet Baxter he got loose." she said informing her "I was just lucky i guess that he managed to make a mess in my trunk in my dorm room spilling my yellow paint. I was able to follow the trail here." Christina said smiling warmly at the girl she had seen in one of her classes before.

Shaking, and very confused, Kaity bent down and picked up her wand, which she had dropped in fright a few moments ago. Shining it slightly higher, she saw the girl who had also screamed. She vaguely recognized her, probably from class.
"I'm...uhm...Baxter, did you say? OK. It's just a ferret...just a - WHY WOULD YOU KEEP THAT THING! IT TERRIFIED ME! I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO KILL ME!" She started breathing sharply, her eyes wide. She stared at the ferret. It stared back. She stared at it some more. It stared back some more.
Finally, she regulated her breathing. It wasn't going to kill her. In all fairness, it probably couldn't kill anything bigger than an ant. Slowly, and feeling slightly guilty, she raised her eyes to meet Christina's.
"Uhm. Nice to officially meet you. I'm Kaitlyn. But, you know, call me Kait...or Kaity...or whatever ya like..." She rambled. Jesus, whose idea was it to go out into the bloody well forest!? Oh, right, hers.
Hesitantly walking towards Christina, she noticed something laying on the ground a few feet away. Her eyes widened briefly, before she realised it was her coat. She must've dropped it, too. Urgh, it was all muddy! Oh well. It'd be able to be cleaned.
"So. Erm. Having fun in the forest?" She awkwardly asked. She hoped to GOD Christina wouldn't ask her why she was here.

Christina was petting Baxter on his head , as he made sounds of content. "oh Baxter Baxter I love you to death but I'm going to have to put a magical lock on your cage." she said in a baby like voice cooingly to her pet ferret. She noticed the girl bend down and pick her wand up and start talking in an all excited manner. How her pet ferret has scared her half to death and how she thought it might kill her. She couldn't really blame her, it was probably the first time she saw a ferret. This wasn't the first time someone had been frightened of Baxter.
"I got him when he was a baby he was just so cute!" she cooed as Baxter turned his head to stare at her. "It's ok Baxter you just scared the poor girl she's never seen any pet like you before." She said explained cooingly to Baxter. He turned back to face her and Christina rubbed her nose against his all cute like.
She saw the girl look up at her after calming down some. The girl and introduced herself as Kaitlyn but said she could call her Kait, or Kaity, or whatever. Poor girl Christina thought , my pet really scared her half to death she thought.
Baxter was now sitting on her should and she took a chocolate chip cookie out her robe and fed it to him. She was feeling genuinely sorry for scaring the girl. She noticed a coat on the ground covered in mud and picked it up.
"Is this yours let me fix it for you." She said and using her wand she waived it at the coat and said.
"Scourgify"
The coat instantly was instantly made clean again and she handed it to the girl while giving her a nice inviting warm smile.
"Well see I woke up at midnight and discovered Baxter missing from his cage this isn't the first time he's done this. I"m just so glad he is ok I would never of come into the Forbidden Forest otherwise you know being its against school rules and well just plain scary." she explained smiling. "I understand how Baxter scared you, he's done that before with other people, but he really is harmless." she explained. "I mean if you ignore all the messes he makes or the trouble he gets in he's really just the cutest thing." She said informing her new friend. "It's really nice to meet you Kaity I"m Christina as I said earlier." she said offering her hand out to Kait.

Kaity watched Christina pat the thing Baxter. It was kind of odd and sweet at the same time. She couldn't see too well - the light wasn't really that great in thick forests at half-past-midnight - but she could almost feel the love between the ferret and Christina.
"Yes...cute. Sort of. But, forgive me for having something of a grudge against him, he DID nearly give me a heart attack" She laughed.
She watched Christina in awe as she cleaned her coat instantly. I actually love magic. She thought.
"Wow, thanks so much!" She grinned as she was handed back a new-looking coat. She then put it on to combat the cold and her shock.
She laughed nervously as Christina explained that she would NEVER go into the forest because it broke school rules. Not that, you know, Kaity would EVER go into the forest...or anything like that...
She shook Christina's hand when she was offered it. "Hmm...can I call you Chrissie? I like the name Chrissie. Or...Tina? Though that reminds me of that singer..." She smiled.

"Oh its fine really , I dont' mind and neither does Baxter and your welcome its the least I could do seeing my pet scared you to death." she replied smiling. Christina was glad when Kaity seemed happy for her clean coat and she smiled at her. She got a sense that it probably wasn't the best thing when she had said about not wanting to get in trouble for being in the Forbidden Forest seeing how Kaity was there now.
"Yeah you can call me Chrissie if you like and don't worry i'm not going to tell on you for being out her , I don't tell on my friends." she informed Kaity witha big smile. "Though I must admit i'm kind of scared just being in this forest specially at this time of night." "Can I ask why you were out here is there something you were looking for in the forest." "I don't want my new friend out here by herself , its always best to have a buddy when in places like this." she said smiling hoping Kaity would realize she was offering her friendship!

Kaity smiled at her new friend and said, "Well thankyou, Chrissie...for not telling on me. And for being a new friend"
There was a sharp intake of breath and a bite of her lip when Christina asked what she was doing out here.
"Erm. Well. Basically....I was sort of...you know...breaking the rules." She giggled. "I mean, I'm usually a really good girl...but I felt this sort of urge to do something bad... I'm kinda an adrenaline junkie..." She confessed.
"And, yeah, I think after that little rascal," she pointed at Baxter, "tried to kill me with fear, I think it might be nice to have somebody else with me."
She smiled and started walking towards the entrance/exit of the forest. And then stopped. Where...exactly...WAS...the entrance?
"Uhm....yeah... Chrissie...Not meaning to alarm you, or anything, but I think we might be the teensiest bit lost..." She breathed.
Great.

Well this nights started off bad but I made a new friend so all in all not to bad Christina thought to herself. The night was a bit chilly and she tugged on her robe some in an attempt to keep warm.
Kaity had smiled at her saying she was glad that Christina was not the type to turn someone in and that she was happy to make a new friend. Christina liked making new friends and she had a feeling Kaity was one she would have for a very long time. Baxter had jumped off her back and was sniffing at stuff on the ground making ferret noises and seeming to be having a good time.
Christina listened while her newest friend Kaity explain how she was an adrenaline junkie and glad that she was willing to join her in the Forbidden Forest. Her dad had always told her that when going on adventures always make sure you have a buddy. Kaity mentioned that she thought they might be lost.
Christina looked around she couldn't find any of Baxter's yellow paw marks anywhere on the ground his paws must of dried up.
"Great looks like Baxter's yellow tracks are gone as well , any ideas of what we should do?" She asked feeling nervous.

Kaity groaned. Great. There weren't any paw-prints either. Oh well, at least she was getting the full experience! Or something motivational like that...
However, she'd been in way worse situations before, and the adrenaline was stopping her from panicking.
"Well, I think that we'd better start...in that direction," She pointed slightly to the left, "Because the trees look familiar...I think."
They set off, but after ten minutes, it didn't seem like they'd gotten anywhere. Sitting down against a tree in defeat, Kait started to get annoyed at herself and the lack of...of...Gah. She didn't even know.
"Hey, wait a minute, Chrissie? It's a full moon tonight, right? And...I know that the moon goes that way," She pointed in the sky, "Which means that we must have to go that way!" She pointed to the right. So they set off again, trudging through thick forest in the dead of night with nothing but a dim light coming fron the tip of their wands.

Christina was feeling quite nervous she didn't know much about this adrenalin rush thing Kaity talked about. All she had was her feelings scared and nervous with a touch of bravery. She called Baxter coaxing him to get on her shoulder as she followed Kaity suggestion that they go left cause the trees looked familiar to her.
After about 10 minutes of walking they seemed to get no where and Kaity say down against a tree. After 5 minutes of sitting Kaity seemed to be inspired again mentioning the full moon and they traveled off to the right. They seemed to be getting no where when all of sudden out of the forest in front of them leaped a horse. Christina quickly moved out of the way startled by the horse but it wasn't a horse it was actually a Centaur boy. She remembered the stories her dad had read her before bedtime, sometimes there were Centaurs in them. Centaurs were magical creatures whose head, torso and arms appear to be human joined to a horse's body. This one appeared to be a young boy who's coat was a shiny deep black he had stopped and was standing there looking at them both.
"Hello I"m Rolan, The Moon is quite bright tonight." said the young boy Centaur.

Whoa. A freakin' Centaur? Great. Kaity's night was getting better and better...
"Hey there!" She said, trying to give off an air of confidence when really she was wary of the centaur's intentions. She held out her hand before realising that centaur's didn't really have hands. Instead she curtsied and said, "It's mighty nice to meet you Rolan. Erm, you wouldn't be so kind as to tell us if we were going in the right direction? We're a tad lost and we're trying to get back to the castle."
When Rolan had told them that they had, in fact, been going in the right direction, the two girls set off again, thanking Rolan heaps. (Well, Kaity was still paranoid that the creature would shoot them with arrows while they weren't watching.)

Christina had been so shocked that she was actually seeing a centaur that she ended up kind of going into shock. She had thought about this situation many times when her dad told her the stories with centaurs in them. She had a whole speech she prepared and questions she would want to ask the centaur.
Instead all she did was stand their dumbstruck while her friend Kaity took control of the situation. She watch as Kaity greeted the centaur and even tried to shake his hand before realizing the centaur had no hands just hoofs. She was glad her friend wasn't shocked like her as Kaity was able to find out from the centaur that they were indeed headed in the right direction towards the castle.
Kaity must of nudged her or pulled on her robe because before she knew they were off again walking through the forest. She was walking along in the forest with Kaity when all of a sudden she tripped on something falling to the ground. A little shaken but not hurt she got up and looked to see what she had tripped on. There barely visible under a pile of thick foliage was a submarine hatch like door.
"Look what I found here Kaity its what I tripped on!' she said excitedly as she started to twist the handle to the door clockwise to open it. It was hard twisting the door and took several tries before getting it opened. There was a ladder going down but what was down their she couldn't tell as it was all dark inside. She stood up and backed away so Kaity could see what she found.
"What do you think Kaity should we check it out?" she asked her friend nervously.

Ian had been stumbling through the forest, trying to find his way out. It was only his second time in and apparently he had wandered a little too far and off course this time. He looked in each direction, trying to find a bit of light so that he could find where an opening was in the trees. Unfortunately, all he saw were gigantic trees and a large amount of brush. As he walked along, he searched for any sign of life. After a few minutes, he heard a rustling and whipped his head around. He had definitely heard talking. "Oh please be human" he whispered under his breath. He had yet to run into any creatures and he didn't want to start now.
He crept along toward the noise and saw something that he hadn't expected at all, a centaur. The creature loomed large and he could tell that it was much larger than he was, even though it was still about fifty feet away. He knew that it could close the gap in a matter of seconds. With the body of a horse, its stride would probably be more than triple his. Was he trespassing on its territory? Just as he thought about the consequences of such an action, he saw a girl that he recognized standing near it. "Christina?" he muttered, wondering whether it was really her standing there.
She and another girl that Ian recognized from class talked to the centaur for a few minutes and then began walking off. Worried that he would get lost, he decided to follow them. Just as he was about to call out her name, Christina tripped on something. "Christina?" he called, as he reached the spot where they both stood. It seemed that they had fallen upon a trap door. What in the world would be kept in the ground this far into the forest? "What are you guys doing out here?" he asked them in a hushed voice, hoping that no other creatures were lurking around the forest.
