A little bit stressed, was what Kaity felt, as she walked to the Library, carrying a notepad. She'd gotten hold of the syllabi for most of her subjects, and it didn't look very promising. How on Earth was she supposed to remember everything that was going to be taught? Well, that was why she was walking towards the library. If she read the right amount of the right books, hopefully she'd pass all her exams with flying colours.
When she got there, she was slightly amazed at the amount of books that were there. There were thousands! Walking up to a section that looked promising, she started browsing the books. Then, upon finding one that would most likely help her with her studies, she picked it up (or, well, tried to) and half-dragged, half-carried it to a desk where she could copy notes from it.
She sat down, and opened the book to page one, copying it down almost word for word.

Tired of reading the same scales over and over again, Randy wondered what the music in the wizarding world was like. Excitedly, he made his way down to the library to find some books on magical musical instruments. The librarian guided him to a whole section on music, and gave him a few choice books. He thumbed through them before deciding on one particular book, entitled 'The Exploding Tuba,' which sounded quite engaging. He then set off in search of an open desk, but to his dismay, quickly realized that the library was almost packed because the term had recently started.
Eventually, he did find an open desk, at least partially. A girl was already sitting there, but she seemed engrossed in what she was doing. Her head was down and Randy didn't realize that he had already met the girl just a few days prior. "Hi there," he said softly, as to not startle her. "Mind if I sit here a moment?"

Kaitlyn had nearly copied down the first page when suddenly there was this voice close to her; naturally, she jumped half a foot in the air.
"Oh, yeah, sure!" She said, clearing off the pages and ink wells that were strewn across the desk, gesturing to the seat across from her. "What's that book you've got there? 'The Exploding Tuba' - do you like music?"
She paused for a moment, biting her lip. This guy looked really familiar...
"Hang on...it's Randy, isn't it? Randy Holly!?" She asked.

Randy jumped, too, when he startled her. "Didn't mean to scare you!" He laughed, taking a seat. "Thanks! Oh, yeah, I love music," he replied, showing her the cover of the book. "I can play the saxophone. I even brought it with me to Hogwarts!" The large grin on his face made it obvious that he was very passionate about playing music and was always happy to talk about it. "My dream is to become a professional musician, but my dad wanted me to come to Hogwarts--"
Hang on...it's Randy, isn't it? Randy Holly!?
"Uhh--" Randy was confused about her sudden interjection. She didn't really look familiar to him, but he studied her for just a moment before he realized that he had indeed met her before. But what was her name?! He was so bad with names. And this girl remembered is. Wow way to go. She's going to be so mad, he thought. "Oh, yeah! Hey! Sorry, I didn't recognize you. haha. It's...Carly, right?"

Kaity grinned as he talked about his passion for music. However, when she rudely pointed out that they knew each other, she felt slightly uncomfortable under his scrutiny. And then felt a little peeved when he called her Carly. But it was kinda funny too. "Erm. No, it isn't, actually." She said coolly. Well, feigned coldness. More amusement. "It's Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn Brooks. And I suppose you don't remember me telling you to call me Kaity?"
She then couldn't help it. She let a glimmer of a smirk appear on her lips and then started giggling. She sighed before leaning back into her chair.
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself. It's not often people forget my name. Erm, by the way, I love music as well! I can play the clarinet and piano, and I did have violin and flute lessons too, but I'm not very good at either. You...you don't reckon you could show me your saxophone playing some time?" She asked tentatively.

Oh, shit. Well aren't I a dick. Randy thought, immediately feeling embarrassed. "I'm so sorry, Kaity! How could I ever forget the name of such a pretty girl like you," he said, trying to be as charming as possible to make up for his mistake. He was probably blushing. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly and tried to make eye contact as she continued talking. "You like music? That makes me so happy! I would love to show you the saxophone I've got, but that means you have to show me your own skills!" He flashed a smile and leaned closer to her. "We have to jam sometime!"
