After a very satisfying dinner in the Great Hall, Evelyn wanted to spend a little time before bed up in the rooftop lounge. Having explored many parts the castle in her first few weeks here (but certainly not the whole castle, it was much too big to see everything in just a few weeks), she had decided that the rooftop lounge was one of her most favorite places to spend her time. The roof itself was also a fun place, but the lounge was nice and enclosed so she never got too cold or too hot and the couches were much more comfortable than the hard slab of rock that comprised the roof. And oh, looking up at the stars through the glass ceiling? Lovely.
Evie raced up the stairs as she neared her destination, barely breaking a sweat after having traveled up all that way from the ground floor. Her belly churned a bit after the food inside was all jostled around from her trip, but that only made it more satisfying when she plopped down on one of the larger couches in the lounge. It was rather vacant at the moment, she assumed most of the students were still eating dinner or else back in their common rooms doing homework or whatever students did here. With a grin on her face she spread out on the couch, taking up most of it even though she was a small girl. The sun was almost down and she could see the moon in the sky, but it wasn't quite dark enough for stargazing, her favorite thing to do while she was here.
Letting loose the yawn that had been dying to get through ever since she had finished her dinner, for she always got tired after a good meal, Evie let her eyes close for a few moments as she relaxed on the couch. She only allowed herself a few minutes of peace before she sat herself up and stretched her arms out, rubbing the sleepiness out of her eyes. While she fought back another yawn she dipped her hand into the bag that she had brought up here with her, pulling out a book and cracking it open where she'd left off. After a few rounds of reading the same page over and over because her eyes kept drooping shut she realized that the book wasn't doing a very good job of keeping her awake.
With a sigh she tossed the book back in her bag and threw her hand back inside, feeling around the bottom until her hand closed around the bottle of nail polish that she had thrown in there a few days ago in case she ran into a situation such as this. Happily humming a song that had been hanging around in her head all day, she twisted open the cap of the deep pink polish and placed her hand down on the table in front of her, dragging the brush over her fingers and trying to get it just right. Being a 12 year old, however, her hand-eye coordination wasn't quite up to par yet so she ended up with a decent amount on her fingers around the nails.

Lexi was reading as she travelled up the many stairs towards the rooftop lounge. She'd been reading over dinner too, the book just wouldn't let her put it down. But it seemed she still hadn't learned her lesson from her trip down the corridors earlier that week when she'd managed to trip over a Slytherin boy as she walked along reading the Quibbler.
Engrossed in the book 'Transfiguration: The Magic of Morphing' Lexi hurried into the rooftop lounge and walked straight into a table.
"Ouch!" Lexi exclaimed at the sudden sharp pain in her shins. She dropped the book to the floor with a thud, losing her page in the process. "Crap!" She cursed again. With a shake of her head she reached down to grab her book, only then noticing there was already someone else in the room with her.
To make matters worse, the girl was sat at the table Lexi had just walked in to and had been painting her nails. "Oh god I'm really sorry." Lexi said suddenly, forgetting about her book, "I hope I didn't spoil your nails for you." She apologised, looking rather sheepish.
"I'm so clumsy sometimes. Guess I should learn to look where I'm going."

Evie jumped slightly as she heard a loud thud and the table in front of her moved a bit, causing the brush to fall out of her hands and leave a lovely pink mark on the table. She hurriedly picked the brush up and put it back in the bottle, using the inside part of the sleeve of her robes to rub off the polish that was left behind. There, no damage done. After the crisis was averted she turned her attention to the person who had walked into the table, shaking her head as the girl apologized to signify that there was no harm done. "It's ok! They're still...well, they're not any worse than before you came in," she said with a laugh as she looked down at her nails. They always looked nicer when her dad did them, absurdly enough.
"It's not really clumsiness if you're not looking where you're going," she said cheerfully, shrugging her shoulders. "What was so exciting that you weren't looking ahead of you anyways? Or were you just seeing if you could find your way around with your eyes closed?" she asked with a smile.

Britton too headed up to the roof lunge as a gay boy he had that sixth sence on when nail polish was being administered.
He finally made his way up to the roof when one of the two girls tripped over somethinv after looking either at the slytherin boy or what he was reading. If it was Britton he would be looking at the boy not the reading materials. "Are you ok?" Britton asked the girl who had just tripped. "My name is Britton. Britton Bulle thats french!" He said with a cheesy smile.
He then looked over at the other girl who was painting her nails and smiled at her "Care to have a manicure partner!" He said smiling the same cheesy grin.

Evie turned her attention to the new face that must have walked in right behind the other girl, smiling and giving him a wave as he introduced himself. "Britton Bulle? Interesting," she said thoughtfully, saying the name a few times in her head before making a decision on how she felt about it. "I like it! My name's Evelyn Myers, but I'm Evie to mostly everyone." She spoke to both of the potential new friends, giving them a friendly smile before she looked back down at her nails upon being reminded of her previous task. "Certainly, if you'd like to join," she replied with a laugh, then added as a second thought, "Both of you can! But I have to warn you, I'm quite rubbish at it myself." She held her one finished hand up as proof, putting on a fake pout as she showed off her less than perfect handiwork.

Britton smiled. He had just made a new friend. "Nice to meet you Evie. By the way let me show you how to not mess up so much on your nails." He said happily and took off the cap to the nail polish. And began to start to paint Evie's nails. "See nice even strokes gets the job done" he said smiling happily

Evie laid her hand down on the table and spread her fingers out as the boy picked up the nail polish so that he could help her out. This place was starting to feel like home already. She watched closely as he painted, doing a much better job than she did herself. "Yes, but it's so much easier when you're painting another persons nails," she said, as if she knew it to be true. She'd never actually painted anyone else's nails, but she assumed that it would be easier. Besides, he was making it look too easy. It was never that easy for her.

Rats, her smart comment had cost her a decent manicure. With a small sigh she took the brush from him and dipped it in the paint, starting the second coat on the hand that she had done herself while the other one dried. Even though all of her concentration should probably be focused on the task at hand, she couldn't just sit there silently while the other two watched her. Talk about added pressure. "So, what houses are you guys in?" she asked, glancing up at the two students with a smile before fixing her eyes back downwards at her fingers.

Lexi shrugged, "Yeah I suppose you're right, but don't doubt the clumsiness either." She said with a bright smile. Glad that she hadn't spoiled the girls nails. Lexi wasn't the artistic type and her nails always looked like someone had jogged the table while she was painting, or that there had been an earthquake happening at the time.
The girl invited them, and the boy who had just arrived up at the roof to join them, warning them that she wasn't very good at it. "Can't be worse than me." Lexi grinned, as she sat down on the opposite side of the table.
The girls name turned out to be Evie, and the boy was called Britton, "It's nice to meet you both, I'm Lexi." The said brightly, it was always good to meet new people. She considered the idea of having her nails done, but for Lexi there was one problem.
"Haven't you got any other colours?" She asked, she was really not a pink kind of girl.

"Very lovely to meet you, Lexi," Evie said with a smile, her concentration broken as she heard the next question out of the girls mouth. "This is all I have with me." She frowned lightly, then remembered that she was at school and was therefore allowed to use magic! "But I can get more!" she added, slipping her wand out of her robes as carefully as she could to avoid messing up her newly painted nails. She pointed her wand in the general direction that she thought the Gryffindor girls dormitories were and used a spell that she'd seen her dad use countless times. "Accio nailpolish!" she cried, clearly picturing the box that contained all of her pretty colors in her mind.
"Well, hopefully it works," she mumbled as she sat her wand back down, time passing by painfully slowly as she waited to see if her spell was successful. Minutes later the box came flying through the doorway and landed in her lap. "Yay!" she squeaked, gingerly picking the box up and sitting it on the table. "You guys can pick whatever you want, I have lots of different colors."

Britton smiled and heard Evie ask what house he was in. "I am a hufflepuff." he said as he saw a whole ton load of nail polish colors appear in front of him. He was in complete heaven. There were reds, blues, purples, greens, and even black and browns. He looked around for a color he wanted which was black. He took the cap of the nail polish and began to paint his nails and wanted to start up some more convorsation. "So what classes is everyone taking?" he asked "I am taking Herbology, Deffense Against the Dark Arts, and Care of Magical Creatures. I am really excited about Deffence because I was at Beaubattons and they didn't care much about Dark Arts. They thought it Taboo, and we didn't need it anymore..." he said before making a face which was partially agreeing with the Beaubattons thought and then his own thoughts of how he just might in the future he just might need it.

Lexi had to wonder whether the spell would work. Summoning charms were so amazingly useful as long as you could make them work properly, nothing worse that suddenly losing something because the spell just never managed to get it to you. Lexi had experienced this before and it was most annoying.
Luckily for Evie, the box sailed safely into the room and landed with a light thud on the table. She watched as Britton flipped open the lid, she let him browse through the colours first and wasn't all that surprised when he plucked out the black.
Leaning in over the table Lexi searched for a colour, "ooh pretty." She said as she grabbed a sparkly pale blue. "Now that's more my kind of colour."
She unscrewed the lid and set the bottle down on the table and began to paint with all of the concentration she could muster. Its wasn't going to look great but, oh well, it might be a vague improvement on previous attempts.
"COMC always sounded most fascinating to me." Lexi said, "Don't get to see much in the way of magical creatures in a tiny Scottish village, so really looking forward to that one. And Transfiguration," Lexi gestured to the book she had been reading, "Obviously."

Evie couldn't help but laugh a little as she saw the look on Britton's face when he opened the box and saw all of the colors. She had accumulated a pretty impressive collection, and so many of them never got used because there were just too many choices. "I'm in Gryffindor," she said as she looked back down at her hands, quickly finishing the last finger on her left hand and shaking her hand out a little so it could dry before she started her right. She laughed a little darkly as Britton mentioned that his old school didn't put much emphasis on defense against the dark arts, feeling that it was unnecessary. "I imagine we might need it here," she started before lowing her voice and moving in closer to the table so that they could hear her whisper, "have you seen the new headmistress?" Scary woman, she was.
Evie sat up straight and looked around to make sure the wicked woman wasn't standing behind her before getting back to nicer conversation like nothing had ever happened. "I'm taking charms/transfiguration, herbology/potions, and flying. I'm really excited for all of them actually, but I've never gotten to fly before so I think I'm most excited for that one. Not that it's all that useful to my magical studies." She smiled and shrugged her shoulders.
"Care of Magical Creatures sounded fun to me, but I didn't want to take too many classes so I thought I'd save it for next term. Switch it out with flying maybe. Though perhaps I need to add Defense Against the Dark Arts to my repertoire too." Oh, if only she had all the time in the world.

Britton continued to paint his nails until he heard Evie say something about yhe headmistress. "Wait I thought that Arri chick was the headmistress. Or are you talking about that lady in the feast the one that likes to tell us we are ungreatful and we are heethans?" He said now kind of afraid of the headmistress.
