Christina had woken up from a bad nightmare she had been having a bunch of them lately ever since thing started going crazy at Hogwarts. What always helped her calm down best after a nightmare was hot chocolate. The Hufflepuffs were very lucky as the same stairs that led from the ground floor to their Common room were the same stairs that led to the Kitchens. Putting on her robe and some slippers she picked up her wand and put in her pocket of her robe. She always tried her best to be prepared you never knew when you might need your wand.
She left the Hufflepuff Common room and followed the stairs down till she came to a painting of a fruit bowl hanging on the wall. This was not the first time she had been here just last year she brought Holloween cheer to the House Elves by giving them all pieces of gum cause even House Elves deserve some HolidayCheer She knew the secret to getting in the kitchens was to tickle the pear in the picture until it laughed then it would turn into a door handle which you could twist to enter the Kitchens.
Walking into the Kitchen you would see an enormous high-ceiling room large as the Great Hall above it, with mounds of glittering brass pots and pans heaped around the stone walls and a great brick fireplace at the other end. Their are five tables identical to and directly below those in the Great Hall; food must simply be placed upon the tables in the kitchens, and it magically appears on the corresponding tables in the Great Hall above. The kitchens are staffed by over one hundred house-elves who are always busy it seems working and preparing the meals.
When she entered tonight it late at night and most the house elves were asleep except one she recognized from last year as Abra Head House Elf. He was sitting at his desk going over the schedule and menu for upcoming week. He was wearing bifocals and had a few grey hairs sticking out behind his ears as he was older then most the other House Elves.
He got down from his desk when he saw her enter and walked over to greet her.
"Christina my dear its so nice to see you again, here for some Hot Chocolate?" he asked her.
"Oh Abra you know know me so well." she said
"Having bad dreams again dear I will give you some of my stress away cookies to go with the Hot Chocolate." he told her.
"How are things down her so far?" she asked
"For the most part things have been good around here, but heavens help me you guys sure gave us a challenge cleaning up after your Start of Term Feast it was like you guys had a a huge food fight." he informed her. He had been preparing her cup of hot chocolate all while they had been talking and now he was pouring the hot water into a mug. He added the chocolate powder and stirred it up handing her the mug of hot chocolate along with two of his stress away cookies on a plate.
"Thanks!" she said as she started to drink her Hot Chocolate sipping at first cause it was hot.
"yeah it was something like that." she said grinning.
