It was late at night and Britton was quite hungry. Dinner was long over and the casle was beccomng still and quiet. He snuck down from the Hufflepuff commonroom to the kitchens. There were no house elves to be seen or heard from. They had gone to sleepa couple hours he had went into the kitchens.
Britton began to rummage thriugh the kitchens tl he found some bread, peanut butter, jellt, bannannas, and fries. What a combonation it was. He finally forgot two things. Cheeese and butter. He was going to have some fried pb&j and fried peanut butter bananna and fried grilled cheese sandwiches also some fries.
He vegan to prep his food. This took him twenty minutes from start to finish. He was always careful whrn cooking. Finally his prep was done. He put all this food in the deep frier and then felt thursty and found some pumpkin juice ans began to drink it from the container

((Hope that this is an open thread =P))
Insomnia. Oh, how Jenny hated the word. It had only been a recent thing really. Since her mother had died. A psychologist would probably have deduced that the trauma of her mother's death had caused Jenny's subconscious to be plagued by feelings of guilt and keep her awake at night. But Jenny wasn't a psychologist. She was just annoyed. She wanted to sleep. But - now she was hungry. Of course. She did not want to get up. It was warm and cosy in her bed. Maybe if she just ignored the hunger gnawing at her stomach it would go away. Her stomach protested with a loud growl. Sighing in exasperation, she threw the covers away from her and got out of bed. As the chill hit her she gasped and realised that she hadn't been exactly wide awake before. Grabbing her purple dressing gown, she wrapped it around her and snuck out of the dorm. It was time for a midnight snack.
The halls were deserted as Jenny crept down several long, dark hallways. It was eerie wandering around at night, after everybody had gone to bed. The night sky cast an iridescent blue light over everything and the shadows loomed up around her. She could hear the soft chirping of crickets, the subtle chorus of snoring portraits and somewhere - off far in the distance - a howl. Shuddering, she wrapped her dressing gown more tightly around her and quickened her pace, shuffling along in her matching purple slippers. She finally found the entrance to the kitchen. She tickled the pear and the door swung open. She blinked a few times, her eyes adjusting to the light of the kitchen and then walked through the door.
Crud. Somebody was there. A boy who looked only a few years younger than herself stood in the kitchen drinking pumpkin juice. Suddenly, Jenny felt extremely self conscious. She hadn't expected to encounter anybody at this time of night. And there she was. In her dressing gown. She felt her face start to go red as she shuffled forward to get a better look at the boy. She didn't know him. Suddenly, she realised that it didn't matter that she was in her dressing gown. She was different this year. Laid back. Easy-going. Cool as a cucumber. A smile made its way to her face. "Hello I'm Jenny," she grinned, extending her hand for him to shake. Breathing in deeply she commented, "Something smells good."

Britton had just finished gulping his pumpkin juice and set the bottle down and went to the frier to check and see how all the food was coming along. He took hold of the frier and took it out of the oil. The food was not quite done yet. He stuck it back in the frier and grabbed the bottle of pumpkin juice and took a swig then heard the kitchen door open.
'Oh crud, Im caught!" He thought to himself and looked back with pumpkin juice still in his mouth. He looked like a chipmonk with nuts in his cheek as the girl introdiced herself. He was so embarrased. He quickly swallowed the pumpkin juice and smiled at the girl. "My name is Britton. Nice to meet you." He said while he blushed out of embarasment at the way he looked with his cheeks full. He then quickly smiled when the new girl , Jenny, adked him what was cooking.
He walked over to the frier and took out all the snacks he had just made and put them on a big serving platter. "Well I just made fried sandwiches. Peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter and bananna, and grilled cheese. All fried. Also i made some french fries." He said happily as he picked up the platter and moved it towards her. "Want some?" He ased with his famous cheesy smile.

Britton. He didn't sound familiar but Jenny didn't really know anybody so that wasn't a big surprise. When he told her what was cooking Jenny couldn't help but life. "I'm glad I've met someone else whose philosophy is that any food tastes better when it's fried. Of course I want some!" she grinned. This was quite a successful midnight snack expedition after all. She opened one of the corner cupboards in the kitchen and pulled out two plates (she'd been here so often that she knew where pretty much everything was in the kitchen). She handed one to Britton and then proceeded to help herself to the grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich and a scoop of french fries. The food was too hot to eat at the moment so she took it over to the bench and blew on it while Britton helped himself.
"So... What house are you in?" she asked him, trying to make small talk. This had always been Jenny-the-socially-awkward-slytherin's point of weakness. However, she felt as though, by arriving in her dressing gown and slippers, she couldn't exactly do too much worse. After blowing on her chips a few more times, they were finally cool enough that she could pick up one and eat it without burning her mouth. She grinned with her mouth full, "So good." Picking up the sandwich she took a huge bite. The taste of the hot bananas and peanut butter were heavenly. This had always been one of her favourite types of sandwiches and it was only made better, of course, by frying it.

Britton thanked her as she handed him a plate. He took one of each of the three sandwiches and two scoops of the fries and put them on his plate. He started to take a bite of his fried grilled cheese sandwich and some fries and answered her with his mouth full. "Im on hupplepup" he said happily .

"Hupplepup? Can't say it rings a bell," Jenny joked. "I'm in Slytherin," she added even though he hadn't asked. After taking another bite of her divine fried banana and peanut butter sandwich, she began to talk again. "Are you a 4th year? Or 3rd year?" she asked, "I'm in 5th." Well, this was very ordinary small talk they were making for a meeting that occurred in the middle of the night. "Hmm... you come here often? In the middle of the night that is," she queried. She certainly hadn't seen him on any of her other midnight escapades but then again, most nights she couldn't be bothered to get out of bed despite her stomach begging her to. She picked up a french fry and began to nibble at it while she waited for his reply.

Britton continued to eat and smiled with his mouth full at her as she joked with him. She then told him she was a slytherin. He had heard bad things about slytherin. Also as he walked to class today he overheard some students talking about when the headmistress went to hogwarts she was in slytherin and Britton knew what her personallity was. Mean
He gulped as Jenny finished explaining that she was in slytherin. He thean heard her ask him what year he was in and in a soft kind of scared voice he relplied, "im a third year."
He then heard her ask if he came to the kitchens often. "No i actually dont. I was hungry, like really hungry so i found my way doen here tonight to feed my tummy." He said as he took another bite of the sandwich he was eating

His entire attitude changed when he heard about her house. She narrowed her eyes. He heard she was in Slytherin and suddenly he was acting scared of her?! She was sick of the discrimination. Once people found out she was in Slytherin they automatically assumed she was evil and muggle-hating. It wasn't like she'd asked the hat to put her in Slytherin. She was more Ravenclaw than Slytherin anyway (or so she liked to think) so why did everyone suddenly become wary of her when she revealed her house. Suddenly, she realised the boy was speaking and snapped back to awareness.
She forced the smile back to her face, but it no longer felt real. It seemed that no matter how hard she tried, she could not make people see her. She breathed in and out deeply as the boy continued speaking. You're cool as a cucumber, she told herself. She should make that her new catch phrase. When he finished speaking she said, "I come here quite a bit. I don't get much sleep so I often find myself craving a midnight snack." At a loss for what to say next she searched her dictionary of small-talk phrases. "You ever seen the house elves when they're here? They're just the sweetest creatures - always willing to help out. They make the best food as well."

Britton continued to eat his sandwich and then saw he was not the only one who had a mood change. He felt bad now for being afraid. Maybe she was not like other slythetins. She didnt just come in to irritate him she came in to have a nice midnight snack with him.
Brittin had listened to to her explain how coming to the kitchins was a ritual for Jenny. "Yeah this is the first time coming here for me. It took me a while to find the kitchens myself. I kept walking into classrooms before i found the right door." He said as he giggled.
Jenny then mentioned about house elves. "What are house elves. I dont think ive ever seen one." He said haopiky

Jenny had to admit, she was surprised when he said he'd never seen a house elf before. Then again, she had only ever seen one before coming to Hogwarts and meeting them in the kitchen. "House elves are..." she tried work out how to put her thoughts into words, "They're magical creatures of course. They serve witches and wizards and pretty much have to do everything their master or mistress commands. That is, unless they're freed. They can only be freed if they are given an item of clothing. It's a great dishonour for many house elves to be freed though. They live to serve. They're happy that way." Jenny nodded after she finished, satisfied with her explanation. She reached down to her plate to grab another french fry but discovered it was empty. All her food was gone. Then again, she wasn't really hungry any more. She was beginning to feel slightly drowsy as well. "I might head back up to bed," she said, stifling a yawn.

Britton listened to Jenny again. He was facinated on what she had to say about house elves. He wondered what one looked like. Only time would tell he knew one day he would see one.
Britton now noticed that Jenny was getting sleepy and was going to retire for the night. He too was feeling a bit drousy. He knew it was best if he retired too. "Yeah i thonk i am goung to bed as well. I most likely will see u again here in the kitchens now that i know where the kitchens are " he said as he waved goodbye and headed for the hufflepuff commonroom.
