It was chilly October morning, there was a slight fog of dew on the window as Christina quickly put on her robe and pulled it tight. She did her morning exercises then proceeded to take a long warm shower. Being it was colder out she decided to wear a sweater under her robes she even put a Charlie Brown like sweater on Rex her puggle.
She walked to the Great Hall and found there was a great breakfast spread laid out. There were all the cereals one could like along with, bagels , bread for toasting , pancakes , waffles, french toast, mounds of bacon and sausage, hash browns and fresh fruit just to name a few of the things one could choose for breakfast. She got a plate and decided to have scrambled eggs, two pieces of bacon, three sausage links and a mug of hot apple cider. As she sat down to eat her eggs Rex her puggle gave a wimper begging sound and so she tossed him one of her sausage links.

Mmm... There was a delicious aroma coming from the great hall. Natalie had just woken up 15 minutes ago. It was freezing and she hadn't felt like getting out of bed, but her stomach had told her otherwise. After making herself presentable (by brushing her hair, putting on a baggy jumper with a pair of skinny jeans), she'd walked out of the Slytherin dorms in the search for breakfast.
Ah. That amazing smell. Walking into the great hall, she was greeted with endless plates of food, piled up high. Natalie walked over and helped herself to bacon, eggs and a waffle, and a glass of orange juice. Turning around, she scanned the room for a familiar face, looking for a place to sit. She noticed a second year hufflepuff girl, who was in most of her classes. Hmm... she shrugged. No harm in making a friend.
Nat walked over to where the girl was sitting, noticing that she had an adorable puggle with her. The girl's name slipped Natalie's mind. But she walked up anyway. "Hey, do you mind if I sit here? I'm sorry, but I've forgotten your name. Mine's Natalie," she said with a warm smile (or at least she hoped it was warm).

Christina was feeling quite content as she sipped on the hot apple cider and it traveled down her throat spreading warmth all over her body. She spiked a piece of sausage with her fork and a scooped up a bit of scrambled eggs with it shoved the whole bit in her mouth. She noticed a older girl a third year Slytherin enter the The Great Hall as she tried to recall her name. Maybe I can make a new friend today that would be just lovely she thought to herself. This girl was in alot of her classes and seemed to be one of the smarter ones a good quality. Christina thought she could use all the smart and intelligent friends one could get plus they were a bonus for when studying for the finals.
The Slytherin girl walked up to where she sitting and asked if she could join her saying she had forgotten her name but that her's was Natalie. "Sure the more the merrier I"m Christina." she answered smiling. "I always love a nice hot breakfast its always good to help get you going in the morning." she explained. "plus every October the House Elves add hot apple cider to the choices of beverages one of my favorite hot drinks right up there with hot chocolate." she said joyfully as she threw the last sausage link on her plate down to her puggle Rex. Rex jumped up and caught the link mid air swallowing it whole. "That's Rex he's a puggle." . "Diid you notice that man who interrupted Herbology/Potions class today how rude he was I really wish the Ministry of Magic would quit interfering her at Hogwarts." she said. I really hope i'm not babbling to much she thought to herself

Natalie placed her food on the table when the girl replied, inviting her to sit down, and introducing herself - Christina her name was. Oh, yes, that does ring a bell, Natalie thought to herself. She began to eat and smiled as Christina began to talk. She gave off a bubbly aura. I like this girl, Nat thought. She was very open and easy to have a conversation with.
Christina began talking about how she loved apple cider in October. "Wow, I've actually never tried the hot apple cider," Natalie admitted, "I prefer to play it safe and stick with the drinks I at first love - hot chocolate and orange juice. Maybe I should try some now?" But glancing back around the great hall, which was now completely packed with students eating breakfast, Natalie decided against it. "Nah. I'll try the apple cider tomorrow. There are too many people crowded around there now."
"Your puggle is so cute! I wish I had a dog, but my parents won't ever let me. They're far too strict in that aspect. They like to travel the world, and would find a dog too inconvenient. I always try telling them that it'll be my puppy and I'll take care of it, but they don't listen." Natalie leaned over and played with Rex's soft ears, scratching his neck, just under his chin.
When, Christina began to talk about their herbology/potions class and the ministry employee who'd rudely interrupted their second lesson, Nat sat back up. "I know right! Some nerve he had, rocking up to potions class and criticizing Professor DuPree's teaching skills. I noticed that your potion at least worked! You must be really good at potions. I'm horrible. All my potions never turn out right, no matter how precisely I follow the instructions. I think maybe potions just isn't for me. What do you think of the DADA professor? He seems to be so strict! Especially handing out detentions in the first lesson of the term just to be unreasonable."
The topic of their casual morning introduction had now somehow been turned into gossiping about teachers.

Christina smiled as Natalie placed her food down at the table this was going splendid so far. Natalie mentioned how she liked hot chocolate and orange juice. "Oh orange juice is ok not really a favorite though I admit." she mentioned. The Great Hall was really started to get full of students as the breakfast hour ticked on.
There was a bustle of noises from conversations , laughing , giggles, arguments and a fight here and there. Some students came in to the Great Hall perky and full of energy already some came in frowning and looking like they were still half asleep. Natalie seemed to consider trying out hot apple cider till she noticed how crowded it had become.
Natalie said how she thought her puggle was so cute and how she wished she was allowed to but her parents wouldn't let her. As Natalie continued to explain about her stubborn parents she scratched Rex neck and he loved it. "Rex is really the best it's a shame you can't have a pet dog." she said sympathetically.
Natalie seemed to completely agree about the ministry employee who so rudely was judging Professor Dupree. She felt relieved that another student agreed with her on that note. She mentioned about her potion not working. "Well this potion I happened to have learned about during my first year so I was more familar with it is all." "I messed up just as much my first time doing it don't feel bad" she explained. "As far as the Dada professor goes he's really strict and I didn't like how he treated my friend Kaity the Ravenclaw girl who he gave detention just for asking his first name." "I only am behaving extra good now because Defense Against the Dark arts is a class I promised myself I would learn to heart." "I need to learn all I can about Defense Against the Dark Arts if I ever expect to avenge my parents death. " she explained.

Natalie listened intently as Christina replied. By now, she'd finished her breakfast, but was still sipping her orange juice.
When Christina mentioned how she wanted to be really good at Defence Against the Dark Arts to avenge her parents death, Natalie was unsure as to whether to ask her further about it. It might be a touchy subject for Christina, and after all, they'd just met. She felt a little respect for Christina. She must have experienced so much in her life, especially with her parents dying. Natalie, on the other hand was almost completely opposite. But then again, her parents were not very active of the wizarding world as her dad was a muggle.
Maybe I'll wait and see what she says or if she continues onto a different topic, Natalie thought.

Jenny woke up starving. She needed to eat and she needed to eat now. Not bothering to change out of her pyjamas (they were green with pigs on them) she left her dorm and headed towards the great hall. Pushing the heavy doors open, she flounced into the room. Scanning the crowded hall, she spotted Christina and another girl that looked vaguely familiar. Walking up behind them, she caught a snippet of their conversation. "Let's not go avenging anyone any time soon, hey Christina?" Jenny grinned, not taking in the sombreness of the young Hufflepuff's tone. She squeezed herself into a spot between Christina and the other girl. "You're in some of my classes right?" she said to the girl, "I'm Jenny."
While waiting for the other girl to respond, Jenny's stomach growled. Extra loudly. Flushing red, Jenny reached forward and grabbed a bagel. And a danish. And some peanut butter toast. And some sausages. and some egg. And some bacon. And some more bacon because bacon was one of the greatest things in the world. She took a quick swig from the cup in front of her. It was hot apple cidar. She loved the way the house elves made it. The taste was something she associated with Hogwarts, as it was the first thing she had happy upon coming to the school. Not wanting to get caught up in her nostalgia, she put down the drink and eyed her plate of breakfast. Before beginning to eat, she pulled her hair into a messy ponytail. Then, she licked her lips comically and commenced stuffing her face.

Finishing her scrambled eggs she picked up her napkin she folded it up neatly and wiped her mouth with little pats of the napkin being all neat like. Natalie had seemed to be paying attention to her not just listening but really paying attention to her. Maybe she truly was making a new good friend with Natalie this made her smile. She had just mentioned about avenging her parents when she was startled by her friend Jenny who said "Let's not go avenging anyone any time soon, hey Christina?" Turning to look she saw Jenny take a seat next to her at the table. "Hey Jenny , this is Natalie i'm sure you seen her around." she explained greeting Jenny.
Christina noticed Jenny grabbing lots of food and licking her lips , she got butterflies in her stomach. She caught herself stairing at Jenny she quickly looked down at her plate while brushing aside a lock of her hair from her face. She didn't quite understand the feeling she had usually this was only a feeling she got for hot boys. No it must be nothing i'm over thinking this she thought nervously. I'm not bisexual am I? she thought. She did her best to put the feeling into the back of her mind.
"So Jenny how are your classes going?" she asked quickly as possible trying to replace those thoughts she had with conversation. "My classes are ok I mean except for the Ministry of Magic interfering and being such a pain........I mean its really not right they go and interfere in Hogwarts." she said she was starting to speak more and more rapidly as she tended to do when she got nervous. "Dont you agree Natalie they really need to stop like omg ...... its so annoying ." she said getting faster and faster in talking.

Natalie saw that Christina was just about to continue talking, when an older Slytherin girl interrupted the conversation. Well, Christina did say ‘the more the merrier’, Natalie thought to herself, and shrugged it off. Natalie had to stop herself from snickering at the girl’s comment. This girl’s cool, Nat thought. She examined the girl. She looked extremely familiar, she was probably in a few of Natalie’s classes. That was when Christina introduced her to Natalie. Oh that’s right, her name’s Jenny. Natalie smiled at Jenny. “Hi, you can call me Nat for short,” she said, with a slight wave.
There was a silent pause in the conversation all of a sudden. Looking over at Jenny, Nat saw that she seemed to be extremely hungry. She’d piled her plate to the brim with food and was currently intensely eating a piece of bacon…along with the rest of the contents of her plate, Nat noted.
Then Christina began to talk at a really fast pace, as though she was nervous about something. But, aren’t they friends? Natalie thought. Oh well. Suddenly, she heard Christina say her name. She seemed to have asked her a question, and Natalie had completely missed it. Unsure what to say, she just mumbled, “umm…yeah. I think so too…” Hopefully Christina would be satisfied with that. Natalie then proceeded to gulp the rest of her orange juice.

"Classes are good," Jenny replied to Christina's question in between bites. It wasn't long before she'd cleaned off her plate. Slightly tempted to reach for some more food, she finally came to her senses. She was being a complete and utter pig. She didn't usually behave like this. Hmm... Blame it on sleep deprivation, she decided. After all, her insomnia had been getting worse as time progressed. Shrugging it off, Jenny decided to try to get to know Natalie a bit better. "So Natalia - Nat, what year are you in? And you're in Slytherin with me right? I think I've seen you in the common room a few times," Jenny said. It would be nice to find another friend in Slytherin house.
The only other Slytherin that Jenny was acquainted with was Amber, who she didn't actually know all too well. They had met on several occasions and seemed to get along fine together but never really become proper friends. It was kind of lonely in the Slytherin common rooms with few other friends around. She eyed Nat over. The girl did not look too much longer than Jenny herself. 3rd - maybe 4th year? She definitely was not an ickle firstie for which Jenny was relieved.
Other people may have thought first years were cute and found their enthusiasm endearing. Jenny did not share the same beliefs. Although, she had a soft spot for the quiet, shy first years, the loud, enthusiastic ones always got on her nerves. This enthusiasm for school had usually dimmed a bit by their second year though and they were less annoying to be around. It wasn't that Jenny didn't like Hogwarts - quite the opposite actually - she just didn't see the point in being all gun ho and over the top about everything. So she tried to distance herself from the youngest students at Hogwarts - not that she made it overly obvious. But now her thoughts had gone off on a tangent and she realised she consciously brought her attention back to Nat.

After a short response to Christina, Jenny had turned her attention to Natalie. Nat was glad, as things had started getting a little weird between Jenny and Christina. Wow, two new friends within the period of breakfast. I'm on a roll. Natalie smirked. Jenny seemed to have recognised Nat around.
"Yeah, I'm in Slytherin too. I'm a third year. We have herbology/potions and charms/transfigurations together. Remember? I was the one who turned myself blue with my shrinking solution last potions lesson," Natalie responded to Jenny, "So what about you?" Jenny was definitely older than Nat - that was a given. She seemed like she'd been at Hogwarts for a long number of years. An older, wiser student.
