It was a late Sunday afternoon, the weather had been bright and fair for October so Lexi decided, after finishing dinner in the Great Hall, instead of heading back to the Common room she would head up to the roof and enjoy the last of the sunshine.
Sure she could head out into the grounds or down to the lake, but from there she couldn't take in the whole view of the school, from the dark stretch of the Forbidden Forest, the little village of Hogsmeade set off in the distance and the vast stretch of the lake. This was where Lexi turned her attention at that moment, watching the dipping sunlight glinting off of the waters surface as it rippled in the breeze.
Hogwarts didn't feel quite like home, not yet, but watching the water she could almost be back in her tiny Scottish coastal village. Lexi sighed, homesickness really was a downer, where was someone to snap her out of this mood when she needed them?.

Britton himself always came up to the roof when he was feeling down. This time he was feeling down. He was lonely. He had only been away from his family for one month here at Hogwarts, but it was hurting him in the worst way.
Britton made his way up to the roof to take time for himself. He was not the only one up there this time. It also seemed like he was not the only one down in the dumps either. It was a girl whom he has never seen around yet. there were s so many students at Hogwarts and three was no way in the world he would be able to know everyone either. He looked at the girl who seemed sad and walled up to her. "it looks like I am not the only one down in the dumps, an ear for an ear?" He asked the girl.

Lexi jumped slightly as she heard a voice suddenly up on the roof with her, she hadn't heard anyone come through the door. Wow she must really have been daydreaming. She smiled as the boy said something about being down in the dumps too, seemed to be going around at that moment.
"Yeah," Lexi shrugged, "I don' know, just homesick really I suppose." She said in response to the boy, hoping he could understand her through her thick Scottish accent. "And haven't heard from me Dad in a few days, he's fishing out at sea at the moment. Know it's his job and all that, but it worries me still." She vented. She didn't even know what the boys name was yet but it still felt nice to just get what was concerning her off of her chest.
"So what's bothering you?" She asked, turning away from the lake to lean her back against the rampart. "Actually does feel better to share."
