Kiaro was exhausted. Her hair was tied back into two long braids that stretched down her back. She was wearing her pajamas and a cup of cold lemonade was in her hands. She was content where she was and she wasn't planning on getting up anytime soon. Her new job at the Ministry was moving so fast, it was hard to believe she could fit everything she did in a day. Siriusly.
She had made a canister of pink lemonade. She made today to be a relaxing day. Oh so relaxing. She was laying on the couch in her tent. The tent that Arri had given her that she never stopped using since she had gotten it. You know. Those tents that folded out to be an actual home. She didn't have her own home, so she used it whenever she could.
She had just gotten back from Panama earlier that day, after diving in it, oh man, was that fun. She sighed. She loved her job. She glanced at the counter where her dinner was cooking ferociously. It was homemade, from her mother's side. Her grandmother had given her the recipe, and she had kept it safe, one of the only belongings she had really held onto her past. It was good though. And then in the oven, cooked a mean strawberry pie and in the fridge, awaited some whip cream. She laid her head back, pulling off her socks and sighing.
It was a relief to finally sit down; But she wondered.. when would she get her life going? She had had better dreams lately. Of white houses, picket fences, and a dog or two. Oh and a husband. Can't forget that guy. But her trips around the world made her spend less time thinking about all that and more time about her job. She glanced down into the palm of her hands. There, the timeturner lay. Oh man, it felt like taking a double shift at the Ministry. It was tiring using it, but it had to be done.
Kiaro glanced outside the tent and smiled, walking outside in her bare feet. It was kind of chilly in Surrey, but then again, she was near the woods, so that would happen. She had to be hidden, didn't she. She smiled as she looked up at the sky, admiring it's beauty, running a hand down one of her wet braids. Trhough all the commotion, she had managed to take a shower, boys and girls. She laid down upon the dewey grass, sighing as she looked up at the stars overhead, keeping a cautious eye inside the tent for the timer to start buzzing.
Oh, was it beautiful.

It was so amazing to be back in the great Great Britain.
Alexander wandered along the sidewalk of some Muggle suburbia, not quite sure what it was called. Somewhere along there he had seen a sign telling him what it was, but ehh, he didn't pay attention. He was much more preoccupied with absorbing the lovely scents and atmosphere of his home country. It wasn't his London, but it was good enough for him. At least there wasn't one of those "hot dog" stands at every bloody corner like there was in America. Don't get him wrong, he loved it there, but nothing could really compare to the sophisticated and beautiful place of England. To him, anyway.
Up ahead, there was a small gathering of trees. Deciding that it had been much too long since he had been in an actual forest (in America, he tended to spend most of his time in the big, fast-paced cities), Alex smiled lightly, strolling casually and calmly towards the wooded area. His hand solemnly floated to the pocket of his trousers, where a long, wooden rod was stored: his wand. He wasn't wearing robes, but he always kept his wand with him, everywhere he went. Most of the wizarding communities he had encountered in America told him that it must be an English trait, because they would leave theirs laying around without a care in the world. Maybe it was just the average, laid-back lifestyle of Americans. No wonder half of the Muggle population was becoming obese.
As he drew nearer to the forest, however, he discovered that someone seemed to be having a little camping trip. Biting his lower lip, he continued on past the tent, hoping that maybe he would be able to take a peaceful stroll in the woods. However, right as he was about to pass it fully, his foot caught on something on the ground. A few choice swear words escaped his mouth as he fell clumsily to the ground. He hated when he appeared to not have balance, because he most definitely did. It was the dark out, what would someone expect? Still swearing, he brought his blue gaze up to see what the hell he had tripped over. A slight blush graced his cheeks as he saw that it was a human being, a woman.
"Ahh, I'm -- sorry," he said quickly. "I didn't see you. I mean, normal people don't go lying around in the dark, do they? Let alone right in front of the woods." Alexander sat up, running a hand through his dirty blonde hair to make sure that there were no grass or leaves stuck in it. It was embarrassing enough; thank God it was dark, that way she couldn't see the slight pink his cheeks had taken on. Once he was finished with his hair, his wand hand -- his right hand, that is -- went immediately to his pocket again to check his pocket. His heart caught in his throat when he realized his wand wasn't there. It was right on the ground next to him, in clear view of the woman. His gaze went from the woman to his wand several times, hoping that she thought it was a normal stick -- especially if she was a random Muggle.

She didn't expect anyone to be strolling so close by the woods. Didn't they know werewolves came out at this time of night? She glanced up at the sky. Yup. Full moon. Perfect. Not that she wouldn't mind a tad bit of company, it was just a little awkward that someone had scoped her out. Still though, she became tense, not having her wand on her person at the time. Her fingers dug into the ground. She knew invisibility as a Wandless Elemental trait.. If she needed to, she could hide herself completely, then make herself visible again when the stranger.. or animal.. was gone.
But on all this pondering, she didn't have time enough to react to a foot colliding with her side. She let out a small, "OOF!" of shock and rolled over on her side to catch what breath she had lost. She was going to snap at the person, to tell them that the Ministry could be here in seconds, but then again it couldn't have been a muggle, seeing if she was alive or something. As soon as she caught her breath, she sat up as well, facing.. a man?! Her eyes searched the man. Had she seen this man before? Something told her it wasn't likely.
"It's okay" she said hurriedly, rubbing her side. He seemed curt, like he had someplace to be. But her eyes glanced at him, and then followed his eyes to his wand. She smiled, glad that she wouldn't have to wipe his mind clean of anything that he could have found out about her way of living. "Normal people?" she scoffed, staring at this man with a slight smile on her face. "I never knew looking at the stars could classify you as not normal" she shrugged, looking back up at the stars, on instinct, searching the softly lit sky. She turned her head back at the man and her hand searched the ground.
"Here's your wand" she said casually, placing it in her hands and then standing up. "Well, I usually cook food to feed an army, and I was just cooking one of my grandmother's old recipes. Care to join me?" she asked, holding her hand out to help him up to his feet and back on track.

Upon further examination of the woman, he found that she actually wasn't that bad-looking. She was blonde, had a niiice body, and long legs. He had dated a couple of women with a similar appearance in America, but they just weren't his type. They were too bubbly and dim-witted, and absolutely none of them took life siriusly. Alexander had dumped them in a heartbeat. They had probably only liked him for his "accent", anyway, which the American people seemed to go nuts over. To him, it didn't sound like he had any accent at all but the Americans did, but with them, it was the completely other way around. Confusing? Very. Still, he couldn't take his eyes off of the woman in front of him.
"Maybe it would," he said casually, regaining his composure from the fall. A crooked smile crossed his face. "Especially if you were alone out here ..." Alex trailed over, tearing his gaze from the woman's appealing features for just a few moments to look at the trees. They shivered gently in the wind, their leaves rustling softly. Hmmmm. He would have to go in there later. He was must too intrigued with this woman to leave her now. The young man turned his blue eyes away from the forest and back to the woman before him.
"Thanks, for that," said Alex, taking the wand from her hand and stowing it in his pocket. Another smile graced his face that was more crooked and charming than the one before, as she offered for him to stay for a meal. He took her hand, pulling himself up to stand beside her. Once he was firmly on his feet, he seemed to think for a moment, even though his answer was clearly yes. "Hmm. I dunno. I really do have an absolutely raving trip into the forest to attend to. Of course, I could put if off ... would you like to join me, after we eat, possibly?" He gave her a wink as he waited for her response.

It was dog-meet-dog so far. You know, when they sniff the ass of another dog to "get to know them". Except no ass sniffing, just staring. He was looking at her as she looked at him. Well, the hair and the eyes wooed her. The bright, captivating blue eyes held her eyes for a moment. Blue eyes connecting with blue eyes until she moved onto the rest of his body. Slender, not too pale but not too dark either. He was pretty tall. She couldn't pinpoint where she may have met this fellow, but he did look kind of familiar. Slightly. With one last look at him, her eyes met his again and she offered hospitality with a welcoming smile.
"Yeah, I'm alone" she said, her fingers climbing up her arms. They had suddenly gotten the chills. It had gotten chilly out, but that had never bothered her before. She bit down on her lip timidly, her eyes looking at him again as she helped him onto his feet. Yeah, he was tall, man. He didn't tower over her, because Kiaro was certainly tall as well, but he was quite a few inches taller. She glanced away from his face. The crooked smile made her skin crawl excitedly. Excited? Yikes, Kiaro, take it easy! She took a deep breath and brushed off the grass from where she had sat and looked wonderingly at the man.
"Would I?!" she said excitedly, brushing her hands together. "I certainly would like to go into the woods! I haven't been exploring the woods in ages. Especially in the dark!" she said happily, her mind already wondering. It was the tick of the timer that brought her back to her senses. "Ah yes.. dinner and dessert first, however?" Kiaro said with a smile, entering her tent and beckoning him in with the wave of her hand.
The smell filled the house quickly. It was some chicken.. something. Of course, she didn't know she was to have company.
"Oh. It's chicken," she bit down on her lip, "If you're a vegetarian or anything, I have a salad in the fridge" she gestured to the fridge. She bustled around the kitchen, her feet moving quickly as she put on pot holders, getting the chicken out of the oven. "Dinner will be ready as soon as the macaroni is done cooking" she said. "Other than that, please make yourself at home" she said, with another smile.

"Then you're definitely not normal," chuckled Alexander, winking again. He raised an eyebrow when she took a deep breath, seemingly overexcited about this trip into an average group of trees. It was a Muggle community, so it was likely that probably not many magical creatures would be dwelling within it. But, hey, to each their own, and besides, it didn't matter if this woman was a tad strange. She was extremely attractive and he really did miss the charm that English women had. American women were too "out there" with everything. It was cute at first, but honestly, it got old quick. There was virtually no chase with half of the American woman he encountered. As he followed her into the tent, he was half-expecting it to be a normal, regular-sized, Muggle tent. He should have known, however, that a witch wouldn't be caught dead with a "normal" tent. Besides, this girl wasn't normal. It was a rather spacious tent; simple, yet elegant, with clearly enough room if the woman ever felt the need to entertain guests. A sofa near to him was rather inviting, so after shooting at look at the woman, he strolled over to it. Alex gently felt the material. Mmm, soft velvet-esque. He grinned cheerfully as he sat down, turning himself so that he could talk to the woman at the same time. "Mmm, what are we having for dessert?" he said, a childish tone to his voice as he remembered her saying something about dessert. He shot her a suggestive look that maybe she understood, but you could never be so sure. Besides, he was being much too flirtatious for his own good, but he couldn't stop. He was attracted to the girl, so he was bound to flirt, at least a little. "As for the chicken, it sounds more than satisfactory. Vegetarians do nooot know what they are missing, honestly." Alexander laughed softly. Thinking back to how his stroll had begun, he had no idea that he would ever end up in a woman's house -- or, rather, tent. Alexander placed his arms on the back of the couch, using his arms to support his head so that he could look at straight at the young woman in the kitchen not that far from him. "Soo, may I ask your name? Or would you prefer not to tell a stranger you invited in from near the woods?"

Any group of trees were certainly not any hype to get excited over. But perhaps, if you were going in the woods, in the dark, with a man that you found attractive along with you, wouldn't you be a little excited too? How did she even come to find this gentleman? Her life had been steadfast a couple of hours ago, returning back from her trip, just hanging back, and now she met this man, who just happened to be what she was looking for in a guy? Much too coincidental.
She heard the soft, playful tone in his voice and she hid behind the fridge so she couldn't see her face fluster. Was this man making sexual jokes in her house? About her? She grinned stupidly, looking back at the male. Wow, a flash of realization crossed her face as she looked back at him. Of course! Troy had spoken of an older brother and the sexual content that this man was mentioning now sounded exactly like his brother's cup of tea. The fluster in her cheeks left at this realization, as she cooked the veggies and put them on two plates, adding several pieces of chicken to each plate.
She didn't know about him, but she had been traveling most of the day on an empty stomach. Pouring a couple of glasses of wine, she sipped at her own and nodded to his. "Red wine. England's best" she said merrily, sipping hers dutifully. "Alright, I guess this calls for dinner being ready" she said brightly, making sure the table was set before he arrived.
"My name's Kiaro Matuchi" she said gently. "And now that I think about it, you're Troy's older brother" she said, raising an eyebrow. "I could tell by the sex puns" she laughed, sitting down on one side of the table. "After dinner is a strawberry pie with whip cream. Tastes delish in my opinion" she said sweetly, picking up her fork and knive. "Well, dig in"

His light, crooked smile was back on his face when he saw her hide her face behind the fridge after his "joke". He chuckled softly, running a hand through his already ruffled hair once more. He wasn't completely sure why he did it, but it was a habit that seemed to run in the family. He did it, his brother did it, even his father did it. The Novus' were a bunch who seemed to like their hair messy. Which could be interpreted to many things. Alex kept his eyes on her the entire time she cooked, not being able to take them away from her. He didn't think many girls were beautiful (maybe more like "hot" or something of that nature), but he thought she was. After a few moments, she called out that dinner was ready. He rather oddly leapt over the back of the couch. This didn't fit his personality at all, but he had developed the habit back at Hogwarts. In order to run away from his Head of House when she came to his common room to give him detention, or something, he normally had to jump over the back of the couch. Then, he would run to his dormitory, laughing, and his Head would give him angry looks all the next day. Yep, he was a huuuge troublemaker. His mother had even had to be called down to Hogwarts a couple times. Buuut, he was getting off-topic in his thoughts here. There was a delicious meal at the table and a beautiful woman on the other hand. The last thing on his mind should be his escapades at school. He politely sat down in the chair opposite Kiaro, his manner much the opposite of his previous jumping-over-the-couch thing. Alexander picked up his glass of red wine, winked at her, then proceeded to take a sip. He almost choked on the beverage, however, once she mentioned his brother, Troy. Once he was finished coughing, he said, " You know Troy?" He overcame his surprise after a few moments and replaced it with complete and utter cool. "Geez, I'm sorry for you. He's an annoying kid. Always has been. I swear, when he was at home, he never shut up. Has he changed, now?" He was slightly insulted that she could almost instantly tell that he was related to Troy. But, oh well. Unfortunately, they were siblings, so there were bound to be similarities. A small smile still managed to find its way to his lips when he looked at her again, and he completely forgot about it. Alex picked up the silver untensils, only then realizing how hungry he really was. He cut a piece of chicken and put it into his mouth, chewing slowly in order to absorb the flavor. Unsurprisingly, it was absolutely fantastic, and he washed down his mouthful with another sip of the wine. "Mmm, it's really good," he said honestly, looking across the table at her face and drinking in her features, much like he was the wine. "Your grandmother must have been a fabulous cook, along with yourself. Oh, I like your name, by the way," he added, when he noticed that he hadn't mentioned it when she had first told him. "It's different. Most people have unattractive, common names, like me. Alexander," he grumbled. "It's been passed on through my family for as long as I can remember. It's my dad's name, my dad's dad's name, even my dad's dad's dad's name. It's terrible." He stabbed a carrot with his fork and popped it into his mouth. Once he was done chewing, he decided to just come out and say it. "Oh, by the way, I've been meaning to say that I think you're really beautiful."

Kiaro gasped as Alexander leaped over the couch. Being the Englishman that he was, she definitely didn't expect it out of him. She had to remind herself to close her mouth as she stared at him. Daaaayyum. Fine from behind. Kiaro's cheeks were still flustered as she watched him make his way to the table. Somehow, Kiaro figured he knew that she was staring at him as he made his way over the couch and felt too awkward to say anything at the moment. Wow. What could she possibly do much longer to embarass herself further? She watched him take a seat and she took a sip of her red wine until her flustered cheeks turned a regular shade.
"Ah well. I suppose he's still going through puberty and all" Kiaro waved off Alexander's insult to his brother, but she had a wry smile on her face. "But lately he's been getting really serious about his life. I don't know if you heard yet, but he's planning on looking for his sister" Kiaro said, leaning forward, trying to determine his expression. Surprise, Understanding. But she couldn't decipher it. This guy was pretty good. "Well, I watched Troy grow up so it's hard not to like him, but yes, some of the things he says can be quite.. interesting" she said, with a soft laugh.
"Haha, thanks. I don't really know if she was a good cook or not, I really didn't know her. Just the recipe. Ehh I think it's pretty good, but now that I have another opinion, I know for sure" she winked at him. They seemed to have a winking thing going on, and Kiaro couldn't help but wonder if maybe he only had something in his eye. She looked at him again, not realizing how handsome he was until he devoured his food, which was an uncommon way to figure out someone was attractive. She smiled to herself and picked at her food. She had a fridge, she could easily store leftovers.
At the mention of her name, her face started turning shades again. "Alexander's not that common" she defended him, but he only went on to say that it went through his family. Oh. Well, in that case, it kind of was. Why did the parents have to choose the name, anyway? Why not wait until the kid was old enough to understand names to pick one. That way, no one gets upset. "Well, it's good you have a tradition going on there" Kiaro said, trying to support him. Alexander wasn't too bad. It sounded mighty.. powerful. Alexander the Great. She meant to say this to him, but he probably got it a lot anyway, so she zipped her lips and looked down at her food.
She only looked back up, into his eyes, when he said that she was beautiful. She couldn't say anything at first, but she could feel her heart tugging at her love strings. But how could you fall in love with a stranger, when you didn't even know anything about him? "Well, I think you're very handsome" she responded. And she knew they were both telling the truth about each other.

Alexander chuckled at Kiaro's remark about Troy going through puberty. It was true, the kid had grown about ten feet since he had seen him last, he was even a couple inches taller than his older brother. Then, she said something about his little brother going to go and find Alison. He choked slightly on the piece of chicken he had just put in his mouth. Swallowing quickly, he said, "He's going to go look for Alison? That -- that's crazy, he's only eighteen, he can't possibly ... Mum and Dad are going to be terrified when they find out." He ran a hand through his hair, slightly worried. True, he hated his brother, but he didn't want him to die. He didn't hate him that much.
"Hmm, I suppose," he replied to the rest of what she said about Troy. He wasn't sure what else he could say. He hadn't seen Troy grow up, he was gone most of the time, but he had been with Troy for about half of his life, so he knew generally what the kid was like. But, anyway, he looked up from his food just in time to see her wink at him. The crooked smile was back and he sipped the wine slowly, feeling it slide down his throat. "Yep, and I swear to you, my opinion on food is always honest. I do quite like the stuff, so why lie about it?"
A sarcastic laugh escaped his lips when she said that Alexander wasn't that common. "Yeah, right," he said, grinning. "There's all kinds of cities named after it, all sorts of ancient people, and ... it's just everywhere. They even have a female version of it. I bet they don't have a male version of your name, do they? Nope, because it's gorgeous and different." He winked at her over the top of his glass. Mmm, he did quite like this wine, actually. He wasn't a big wine fan but he would drink it if he had to. Perhaps just the fact that he was drinking it with someone attractive made it all the better. "Yep, a tradition that I'm going to break as soon as I have children. Dad will be furious, but oh well. It's my life."
He couldn't help but break his cool momentarily at the mention of how handsome she found him. A slight tinge made its way to his cheeks, giving them a rosy look. Ugh, he hated that. He was good he didn't go flat-out beet-red, but with just the pink, it made him look like he was wearing make-up. He swiftly went to take another bite, hoping that perhaps she wouldn't notice it. Once he felt the slight temperature in his cheeks decrease, Alex looked back up at Kiaro and said softly, "Thanks." He had gotten the compliment before, don't get him wrong, but it was always nice to hear it from someone he liked, too. His eyes still on her, he noticed that she wasn't eating much. "Why aren't you eating? Are you all right? Or just extremely eager to get into those woods?" His calm, cool manner was back, and he smiled confidently at her.

Kiaro looked down at her meal. He was really worried; Kiaro could hear the anxiety in his words and she even had to take a deep breath to force herself to stay calm. If he was going to panic, she probably would be too. But luckily, his mind shut off the thoughts and he didn't start hypervenilating or anything. She took a sip of her wine and sighed, feeling her body relax now. The silence was nerve racking, wondering what to say now. Yes, it was a possibility that Troy could die. But like he said, he was eighteen. An adult. Troy had the facts at hand.
"Ha, thanks. I try at least" she shrugged when they decided to speak of her food, rather than Troy. Honestly, it was upsetting her heart to see one of her best friends go out into the world, like Kiaro had done when she graduated. She prayed, hopefully, that he would come back to give them news of anything that would happen while he was gone. Kiaro couldn't bear being torn from him forever; He was just too good of a kid.
"Well I'll be damned then! You're named after history; Is that such a bad thing?" she asked him, the corners of her lips pulling into a small smile as she looked at him. "Kiaro's unique, yes. But so uncommon that people question it whenever I tell them" she rolled her eyes, but looked back at him. She was thankful he didn't question it, but as she looked at him, she realized that he wasn't the kind of person to do that. Not to her at least. While he was still looking, she tore his gaze away to look up at the clock. It was nearing eight o'clock, but it still wasn't completely dark. It was going to be perfect for their walk. "What if your future wife likes the name Alexander.. what are you going to do then?" she winked at him, suggestively.
She met his eyes again, after having his wander. She grinned as some color turned into his cheeks. "Don't mention it at all. I agree with you. I only speak the truth because there is no sense in lying, either" she chuckled, taking a sip from her wine as well. She looked at her food, making a small face. "I don't know. Sometimes I hoard down food.. other times, I just pick. Depends on how I'm feeling" she shrugged. "I definitely can't wait for that trip in the woods. I love exploring and I loved the woods at Hogwarts. Speaking of Hogwarts, have you ever taught there before?" she asked curiously. She did not know Alexander's age. Ever since she's been there, she never saw him. But Hogwarts was a big place. She may have missed him.

Stabbing the last tiny piece of chicken left on his plate with his fork, Alexander was abruptly aware of the slight silence that seemed to follow after speaking about his brother. That kid was a horrible topic. Besides, it seemed that Kiaro had a soft spot for him, and he would probably ruin everything if he talked bad about him. He didn't have a lot of "brotherly" love for the kid, honestly. They had gotten into so many fights growing up, and Troy had gotten almost anything he wanted, along with Alison. Alexander, being the oldest male, was often forgotten. It also didn't help that he had broken the family tradition of being in Hufflepuff and had instead been sorted into Ravenclaw. Yep, Alex had a lot of hostility towards his brother.
"Hmm ... I guess you're right, history isn't that terrible," said Alex, smiling slightly. He figured this wasn't too bad, now that he thought about it, seeing as he was sort of planning on teaching that at Hogwarts during the following term. If only he got the job ... "Well, the people that question it don't really matter, do they?" He leaned foward, placing his elbows delicately on the table. Hopefully she wasn't one of those people with impeccable table manners, because he certainly wasn't. The young man was mildly taken aback when she mentioned something about his future wife liking his name. "My future wife? Who knows if I'm even going to get married?" He smiled slyly, winking back.
His sly smile slowly transformed back into his trademark crooked grin, the one that had made many a girl at Hogwarts swoon. Secretly, he hoped it was working on her, because whatever the hell she seemed to be doing was doing something to him, that's for sure. "Yeah, I suppose I know what you mean ... but I always eat. Runs in the family." He laughed lightly. It was true, it did run in the family, as did high metabolism. Another laugh escaped his throat when she spoke so enthusiastically about the woods. "Nope, never taught at Hogwarts. When I graduated, I went to study abroad. What about you?"

Her heart fluttered as he spoke of a wife that didn't exist. Something about what he said made her legs feel weak, and she was just happy that she was sitting down at the time, or else she was sure she would have fallen over. She watched him carefully, stabbing that last piece of chicken before he thrusted it in his mouth. She grinned and shook her head. It was definitely the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the two. Although Kiaro didn't know if they had much in common yet, opposites did attract and thus far, a few things Kiaro could differentiate between that got her hopes up slightly.
"Haha, I can tell you like to eat! And yes, I do see it does run in the family" she giggled. She looked up at him, at his crooked grin and she bit her lip, until she was drawing blood. Self control, self control, self control she thought. The last thing she needed to do was jump over the table and give him something to smile about. She took a deep breath, wiping the tad bit of blood that had managed to come out, before taking a deep breath and starting over again.
"When I graduated, I left as well. I didn't study abroad; I worked with this Peace Organization. It was pretty interesting for the most part. But I'm afraid I had to leave for personal reasons," she paused, the moments flashing back to the time "before". It was sad to think about.. especially under the circumstances where she was here, with a different guy, a guy who she actually liked and he liked back. It made that heart flutter unimaginably. She had never felt such a feeling before.
"Dessert?" she asked, standing up, her chair scooting backward as she looked over at him. "Dessert then walk. Or walk then dessert? Then crash on the couch?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. It was to be an interesting night.

Alexander heaved a sigh, feeling thoroughly content. He hadn't felt like this in a looong time. The food back in America normally left him exhausted, caused his brain to lag. Here, however, back in his home country, with a complete stranger, eating home-cooked food, it was the complete opposite. He felt up for something exciting, something riveting ... Tapping his foot gently against the floor, he lifted his eyes up from his plate to search Kiaro's face. She seemed to be straining against something, biting her lip very hard. He could've swore he saw a slight trace of scarlet on her lip before she wiped it away.
"Ooh, sounds fun! Where all did you go? I went to the States, which wasn't all it's cracked up to be. I mean, it's a good change, but I much prefer it here. Home." He traced a shape over and over again with his forefinger on the table. He didn't pursue it when she said she had to leave for "personal reasons"; he knew that if he were in her position, he probably wouldn't want anybody to ask him. That's why they were called personal. Alex cast her a gentle smile as he stopped his shape-tracing and folded them slowly on the table.
Thinking momentarily, the young man stood up along with her. "Hmm. I dunno, I'm feeling sort of ... restless. Dessert could always wait, couldn't it?" His tone was persuasive, in case she hoped to consume the strawberry pie. Although, that didn't seem probable, seeing as she hadn't eaten much of her actual dinner. Alexander flashed another crooked smile at her, mostly because he knew that was the way he looked sexiest and decided to use it to his advantage. He pulled his wand out of his pocket and gave it a tempting wave in the air. A small bouquet of flowers burst from the end of the wooden rod, which he took as though this was an every day thing. After a deep bow, he handed the flowers over to Kiaro.
"What do you say, Kiaro? I won't let anything hurt you."

"Actually," she looked back up at his face, her mouth turning into a grin, "I went to Africa and worked with the Organization. Africa was beautiful and I learned a lot about the culture, and I got a nice tan on the way as well" she said, hoping he didn't read her remark too closely. "I've been all over the world, mostly working outdoors with other people, but right now I have some inner jobs and they are really helping along the experience" she decided not to tell him about the Ministry. The last thing she needed was tension in their midst.
"It could always wait for dessert too" she said, standing up quickly and looking at Alexander. His legs were ready to start walking. Kiaro looked up into his face again, at that crooked smile of his, and her heart started swelling in her chest. Almost so much so that she thought she felt it pressing against her rib cage, in protest. She took a deep breath, averting his glance, until she glanced up again and saw him swirling a bouquet of flowers in his hands.
Her eyes started welling with tears. No one, no man she had ever known, had been so generous, and protective, over her. Her beating heart didn't cease as she took the flowers in her hand, accepting them from his grip. She smelled the flowers; all their beauty and preciousness coming from his wand. She wanted desperately to kiss him, but she knew it certainly wasn't ethical to kiss someone you just met, who you really didn't know anything about.
"Thank you so much. Please watch out for me" she whispered, magicking the flowers into a vase with water, and then taking his hand and squeezing it gently. "Show me the way" she said to him, her fingers sliding into place against his. She looked back at him, crooked smile and all and grinned her own sexy smile, before being led out of the tent.
