Jay thought it was a pretty good day out. It was chilly but still a good day. He went up to the owlery. He watched as the owls go crazy. He leaned against the rail. He was happy of Torza being engaged to Malcolm. He figured now he could have a big family. He didn't know if he would change his surname to Longhat or not. Jaegar Longhat. Hmm. He looked around just wondering.

They were almost two months into the term and Anna had yet to write her parents, who she told she would write to every week. She had every intention of doing that, you see, but then things got busy and classes started and she kind of forgot all about writing letters. Plus they didn't write to her so clearly they weren't missing her at all, or hopefully they had just forgotten about her too.. actually that didn't sound any better. Well, she was going to break the vicious cycle and send a letter to them, like the good daughter she was. As she sat on her bed in her dormitory, she pulled a piece of paper out of one of her notebooks and began writing furiously, giving them a play-by-play of everything interesting that had happened thus far.. which, depressingly, was not much. When she as done writing her three page letter, she stuffed it into an envelope and wrote down her parents names and address.
Then it was off to the owlery, where she hoped one owl would be around to deliver her letter. She had actually never been up there, so she wasn't exactly prepared for the lingering bird smell or the many, many owls that greeted her upon her arrival. Now, there were lots of owls available to deliver her letter, but which to pick? Looking around, she settled on a smaller and less menacing looking one, just in case it got delivered to her mother so it wouldn't scare her. It seemed to be a pretty good choice, and it seemed happy for the task. "You know where you're taking it, right?" she asked the owl as she handed over the letter, rattling off the address as if it could understand her. "Well, good luck then!" She smiled at the owl and gave it a pat before it flew outside.
Feeling accomplished, Anna turned on her heel to leave but ended up slipping in some owl poop and falling on her butt. To add insult to injury, she also had a number of feathers stuck to her after she stood up, reminiscent of the costume she had given her toad for Halloween. Was this payback? Had her beloved pet secretly cursed her for gluing feathers all over him? Oh, and it just kept getting better, for she then spotted a boy that she had somehow been too distracted to notice before. ".. well this is awesome," she mumbled, trying to brush the feathers off of her and bracing herself for the heaps of laughter that were sure to come from the other side of the room.

Sophia's normal mindset was to write to Parker, her elder brother, every week in order to check up on the hippogriff ranch back home and to make sure he was doing okay. Especially now that the 'griff ranch was all his and he had no Dad to help him or anything. Poor Parker. For once, his sister actually felt a little bit, if not a lot, of sympathy for him. He was such a wonderful older brother, really. Seeing her get by in life without Parker would actually be quite interesting. Just she and her father dealing with her Mom dying. Then just her alone after Dad. Now both Parker and Soph were scared of loosing each other. I mean, who wouldn't be?
Sophia clutched a small brown envelope in her hand. Concealed inside was not only a short letter to Parker questioning him on how the 'griffs and the ranch was doing, but also a card for his birthday. She had sent him pictures of her and Athradien together, because Parker had been asking to see her boyfriend. He wanted to meet him, but it would have to wait until Christmas break or maybe even summer break, depending on Ath's plans of course. This was something she had also asked Parker in the letter, when he would prefer for Athradien to come and stay for a week with her at the house. Okay, maybe it didn't have to be a whole week, but if it was after they graduated and before they were moving in together, which she really hoped they did do, then might as well, right? Gotta make sure they can REALLY live together before they try it.
Sophia's footsteps could be heard scuffling along, step by step as she finally made her way up towards the owlery. Her owl Kayd was up here somewhere. That seven year old tawny beauty. She hadn't been sent on any trips, and usually Kayd stayed in the dormitory on her perch or in her cage, or in the owlery. She actually prefered the dormitory, but when Sophia had turned from her desk to hand the letter to Kayd, she wasn't there. How.. strange, I must say.
Sophia finally found her tawny owl and let her fly down to her from the high spot where she was, up in the rafters. "Hello, pretty girl." Sophia handed her the letter and the owl, as most owls do, knew exactly where she was headed and darted out the window. She didn't want her treat now, she knew she would get it upon her return back to the school. She knew her owner very well. Sophia smiled after the owl, turning to leave when she noticed Annalisse picking herself up from the floor and then Jaegar off to the other side of the room. "Hey, Jaegar. Annalisse." She bid them each hello, having not noticed them beforehand.

Jay watched her fall. A girl in the same house. He went over to her. "Why are you alright?" he asked her as he went to check on her. Most people would laugh but he didn't. She seemed to be embarrassed by what just happened. He got his wand out and flicked it. Her shoes no longer had poop on them and he got rid of the last of the feathers. "It's ok. I am sure you will be ok now. I am Jaegar Ansari by the way but you can call me Jay. What might your name be?" He asked her with a smile. He was trying to be friendly. He wasn't trying to be flirty.
Speaking of flirty, here came Sophie. She flirted with everyone and everything. She would even flirt with a rock. She would think it was cute and put a pair of eyes, nose, and mouth with a Sharpie lol. "Hi Sophie. What brings you down here?" He asked her but he looked at the Ravenclaw girl but then back at Sophie. He was paying attention to both of them.

Anna was surprised when she heard concern rather than laughter, for if it had been someone else falling and her watching she surely would have at least let out a chuckle. "Yea, just a little damage to my ego, you know," she replied, laughing at herself. She smiled as he cleared off her shoes and the feathers, and while she probably could have done that on her own she was immensely grateful. "Thanks so much! I'm Annalisse, but you can call me Anna," she said, nodding her head. She glanced over as she heard another voice, seeing Sophia who seemed to have been there the entire time. When it rains, it really does pour. Who knew so many people actually used the owlery?
Anna gave Sophia a small smile, feeling her cheeks getting warm as she blushed heavily at being seen by yet another person. It wasn't exactly the most glamorous way to be remembered, but at least she was cleaned up now thanks to Jaegar. She stood there awkwardly with her arms crossed behind her back, listening as Jaegar spoke to Sophia. She took to looking around the owlery at the rest of the owls, not wanting to butt in on their conversation but at the same time not wanting to just leave.

Sophia looked at the many other birds around her in amazement. Owls were such fascinating creatures and she was glad they were like the whole post system instead of like pheonixes or something. That would be boring, because then pheonixes would be like gary-stus and mary-sues. Good at everything, cause man, they even have healing powers!
Sophia managed to let Jay's words catch her attention as she looked back to the younger boy who was bigger than her. "Errrrrr, came to send a card and some pictures of Athradien and I to my brother." She was sure that Jaegar, like most of the school, had heard of Ath's return and knew that the couple was certainly back together. Psht, homie she wouldn't have it any other way. (:

Jay used to be interested in Sophie but now since ATh was back she was off limits. He was over her like that though. She was still a friend. He looked at Anna. "It's nice to meet you Anna. Don't worry about falling. We all do. You just have to dust yourself and keep going." He said nicely as words of advice. His attention was on Anna though he was listening to both of them. "it's quite nice out here, ain't it?" He asked Anna and Sophie. His attention was basically on Anna though. He felt sorry for her for falling but he tried to act like it was cool. Nothing like falling in front of people you don't really know but she seemed nice and there was no way he was going to give her a hard time.

"Yea, it's alright, Anna. No worries on this end." Sophia mentioned softly, looking out the window at Jaegar's words. "And yes, it is quite nice out here. Pretty sun going down and all." Sophia figured it would be time to get back to her dormitory soon. "Well, I better leave you two kiddies alone and get back to my dormitory. I need to get ready to meet Athradien for a hot date later." She gave Jay a thumbs up and smiled at Anna. "Nice to see you both, buhbye! I trust I'll see you at the yule ball!"

"It's nice to meet you too," Anna said, smiling at his advice. While she wasn't exactly a klutz, she'd try to remember that for the next time. She couldn't imagine being able to stop herself from being embarrassed by it though, especially if it was something like slipping on owl poop. Grooooss. "Mm, it's alright. After you get over the smell and all," she replied after Sophia, giggling lightly. "Can't see myself hanging around here more often than I have to though." She shook her head, glancing over at the sunset that Sophia had mentioned. It was pretty and all, but you could get that on the roof or even up on lookout point. As Sophia mentioned a hot date as her reason for leaving, Anna giggled and waved goodbye to her, nodding her head in agreement as she said that she would see them at the yule ball.

Jay noticed that the two wanted to leave. He knew he wasn't all that great of company. "Alright see ya Sophie." He looked at Anna. "Yeah poop as a mind of its own." He said at random as he didn't know what to talk about. He didn't want to be alone and have Anna leave. He watched as Sophie left and was out of sight. "You have to watchout for her. If you have a boyfriend she will try to steal him away. She likes to try all the boys out." He told her. That was true.

((): Scott, I would like to make the comment that Sophia is rather happy with Athradien and won't be needing anyone else unless he decides to leave.))

Anna burst into giggles at Jaegar's random comment, shaking her head lightly. "I suppose so, conspiring to make me fall and all. I wonder if the feathers were in on it too," she said with a grin, looking down at her feet and shaking a feather off that had attached itself to her shoe. While she wasn't exactly the biggest fan of this place as of today, she didn't plan on simply taking off. She didn't have anywhere else to be and on top of that she never passed up an opportunity to talk to new people. Networking was verrry important in her mind. Hearing his comment about Sophia, Anna raised her eyebrow. "It's a good thing I don't have a boyfriend then," she replied, shrugging her shoulders. "Who needs boys anyways," she mumbled, the fact that she was talking to a boy slipping her mind.

"Yeah ya never know. It might be some plot to take over us all." Jay laughed with her. He scratched his cheek wit his his hand when she mentioned who needed boys? It was an awkward moment. A quick silence hit. He thought he would speak up though this was really awkward. "We all can't be that bad. They all don't want the ole rub-n-tug right away. Some of us have been in bad situations that makes seem bad but we ain't all bad though. I know I'm the one to be talkin'. I used to want to sleep with everythin' that moved but not like that anymore." He tried to tell her and reassure her that he wasn't some player.

"Hmm, a total owl uprising. Could be dangerous," she said, looking around at all the owls around them. They seemed calm enough, for now. She made note to pay attention to those little buggers now, make sure they weren't getting too feisty. Oh no, and she'd just sent one home too, they knew where she lived! She couldn't even send another letter warning them because another owl would have to deliver it! SHE'D DOOMED THEM ALLLLL! Maybe if she sacrificed her brother they'd let the rest of her family be. They could live without him, since men were useless and all. In her daze she hadn't paid much attention to Jaegar's spiel, and when she realized this she shook her head and paid attention in time to hear the end. "Oh uh, good for you, buddy," she said, patting him on the shoulder. Yep, it totally looked like she'd been listening.

Jay laughed. "Yeah it would be a problem. All the owls attacking us with their poop." He laughed some more. He thought that Anna was listening to him. He smiled as she patted his shoulder. "Well I like being friends with girls too. I'm not some girl hungered perv. I though am dateless for the Yule Ball coming up really soon. I mean us guys can't all be gits. There has to be a few of us that you might like."
