(as much as I have rped here, I don't think I've ever started something here ) The cooridors were eerily silent when all the students were locked away in their dorms, sleeping. The portraits on the wall slept peacefully, until stupid students walked around with lights on... The teen laid in bed for several hours before she gave up and figured that she wouldn't be sleeping that night. So maybe, she would find something to occupy her time since everyone was already sleeping. She however, was stuck in a room with one of the nit picky girls in her year, so sneaking out was a little tricky, but after living with the girl she had figured out ways to get in and out of the room without her roomate ever knowing she was gone. Unless, she knew and she was just nice enough to keep it to herself. But, she liked thinking she was a ninja and could sneak out of her dorm room. Ninja's were awesome! Kadi walked up the winding stairway that led to the high tower, her arms hugging herself from the chilly night air in December. She was niave to think that a pair of jeans and a thin, black and yellow stripped sweater was good enough to keep her warm in the owlery. Haha, where has her brain been lately? With her besties gone and graduated, she hadn't been herself... This is what she got for getting time off. She played with one of her snake bites as her mind wandered to the past; playing with the lake monster, almost being killed by the green eyed monkey in forbidden forest, ice skating, ex boyfriends etc... She used to hate school with a passion. Thought it ruined her life, but it only made her a better person. She love every minute she had here, even if most of her memories got her into the hospital. Haha~ When she finally reached the wide, circular room at the top of the tower her smokey blue eyes swept the room till her eyes landed on a particular medium sized owl. Her brother named her Aya, thinking it was something different compaired to some of the others. Like Coco or Pheonix. Her face was kind of white and her sides were back. She had golden yellow eyes, showing she was a younger owl. The top half of her were dark gray to a greyish-brown, her crown being spotted. Her wings were a dark grey-brown with rows of white spots and her tail was long and dark greyish-brown with white bars. Her legs and toes even had feathers on them. She was a beautiful bird, but she wasn't a complete nice bird. She knew how to bite. She walked up to to owl slowly and gently reached her hand out and waited a moment before the owl made a soft, drawn out chchchiep and when her tail flicked repeatedly. Then she gently stroked the owls feathers along it's neck softly humming a tune, softly laughing when the owl would make sounds with her.

Mom & Dad,
Ashur paused in his writing, already lost in thought about his letter home. He didn't feel like spending the holiday back at home again; too much not too look forward to. After all, his parents and oldest brother always gave him gifts that really didn't suit him at all. Only his other older brother and his sister knew what he liked...or at least cared enough to give it to him. He just needed a good excuse to stay at the school. His eyes lit up suddenly and a small grin curved up on his face as he got the perfect idea.
School is going well for me, I suppose. I'm taking a few classes I find interesting, ones I'm not sure you got the chance to take. You know...because you were busy taking classes that made you become who you are today. Things like Care Of Magical Creatures and Herbology. Anyways, I was writing to say that I'm sorry but I won't be coming home for the holidays. Yeah, I know, a real bummer, isn't it? I've
Ashur had to pause again, frustration evident in his dark brown eyes. Aaaaaand, he lost it. Whatever "it" was that he was going to say...He grumbled softly to himself and decided to just pull an excuse out of his ass.
decided to help out the staff during the holidays. After all, those who stay here will have quite a bit to do and will need all the extra hands they can get. So, I won't see you until summer I guess. Take care~ Ashur
The blonde wasted no time in sealing the letter, addressing it, and quickly slipping out of his dorm. The corridors were eerily empty and quiet. Even the paintings who usually grumped at anyone who made the slightest noise remained sleeping and peaceful. He crept to the spiraling tower that led up to the owlery, quickly making his way up to it, opening the door and slipping out into the chilly air. He spotted his beloved owl and walked over to her, stroking her back lovingly. Her main coloration was an almost golden tan with spots of black and white all over. She had bright orange-gold eyes and gave a soft sweet hoot when she saw her master. Ashur spoke to her as he tied the letter to her leg.
"Ateo~ There's my girl. You take this letter home and leave as soon as they remove it from your leg, okay?" The bird bobbed her head, seeming to understand. "I don't want a letter back from them." He sighed as she flew off and leaned back against a wall, not quite noticing the other in the darkness.

Hearing the door creak open, she turned her head towards the darkened doorway, only seeing a silhouette of a person walk across the cobblestone room to one of the many yellow-eyed owls. As she turend away from the other, giving whomever it was their privacy, Aya had taken the opportunity to lean down and bite her hand. She quickly retrieved her hand, her eyes narrowing at the bird, "Åáàòü! Áûë íåîáõîäèìûå Àÿ?" Her russian accent coming on thick as she swore at the bird, something she did often when she was mad. She placed her lips over the wound, wishing that her death glare on the bird would make her feel guilty, but her mocking golden-yellow eyes only taunted her more. She seemed to be loosing whatever glaring contest she was having the owl, hoping to intimidate her. Eventually, the owl lost interest and flew off some where less chaotic. "That's right.. go away.." she grumbled, sticking her tongue out after the owl. Yes, she was childish. A sigh escaped her as tried to look at the bite mark on her hand, but it was hard in the dim light.

Ashur's head snapped up and his gaze turned to the girl when she said something in another language to her bird. He watched her with interest as she glared at the bird, then muttered for it to leave as she sucked on her hand where the bird presumably pecked at her. He scratched the back of his neck and offered a sheepish smile that she probably couldn't see anyway.
"Not a very sweet bird, is it? I guess we're not all fortunate enough to get a bird that has manners." He paused as he realized he sounded very...Slytherin...by saying that. "Oh! Sorry...just meaning that that bird seems to be a bit of a brat."

Kadi jumped slightly, hearing the males voice, she had momintarily forgotten that someone was in the room with her. She rolled her eyes, "She's not really mine." she muttered, shaking her hand, wanting to pain to go away. She frowned, "I knew what you ment.." she said with a shrug.
She turned towards where she assumed the male was, laughing softly, "My older brother wasn't the best pet owner, so she's kind of... a brat." she said, trying to make it sound as nice as possible, even though she did hate the bird. "She's the moodiest owl I've ever met...." She twisted her lip ring with her tongue, "So, what are you doing up so late?" she asked quietly.

"I was writing home to my family. Telling them I won't be home for Christmas. I know it sounds dreadful but I'd rather spend the holidays alone here than go home to my family. Out of the five family members I have, I can only stand two of them, and one will be away on business this Christmas. Out of the country..." Ashur sighed in irritation at it, then quickly decided to change the subject. "If you ever want to send a letter, just come up here and call for Ateo. You can use her if you'd like. Its much easier than trying to deal with a nitpicky bird like that one." He nodded in the direction of the returning owl that belonged to her. "Oh, the name's Ashur by the way."

"I'm not judging. A lot of students stay here over Christmas, I always have." she stated with a small shrug. She frowned, wanting to say something to make him feel better about the way things were back at home, but he didn't look like he wanted to tred on the topic much longer. She scratched the back of her neck nevously, "Thanks.. but I really don't have anyone to write too..." she muttered softly. She turned her gave to the bird and sighed, Stupid Owl. She thought bitterly, then looked at Ashur with a smile. "I'm Kadi." she said softly, her shyness coming out just a little bit but she tried forcing through it.

"No one to write to? Or no one worth it?" Ashur inqured softly, really interested to know if she was someone like him, where the family he had just wasn't worth keeping informed.
The blonde male noticed Kadi's bird eying him suspiciously, as if she was Kadi's vicious attack owl and he was just some intruder. He walked over to her, looking down as she looked up at him owlishly, no pun intended. He smiled and reached into his pocket, pulling out a licorice wand. He broke a small piece off of it and held it out to her, which she quizkly snatched up, flew a few feet away, and began to eat delicately. Ashur chuckled softly as he watched her, unaware of the other hungry gleaming eyes now intently watching his hand.
"I see her problem~. She just wants to be rewarded."

A soft sigh passed the pale girls lips, "At first no one was worth it.. I had a close brother who went to school with me, but when he went home for Christmas without me, everyone was slaughtered by deatheaters." she explained quietly. Some would think she was heartless for not being bothered by it, but she had learned to lock the memory some where in the back of her mind. She crossed her arms, watching Ashur as he tried feeding Aya licorice wand. "I only got along with my younger brother.. my older one tormented me. He was the perfect Slytherin." she stated, almost with a snear. She hated him.
She chuckled softly as she watched Aya steal it and fly off. "Oh, yea. That's definitly going to stop her from being a nitpicky brat.. I think any one of these owls would love you for giving them treats." she teased, noticing some of the room starting to glow with all the glowing golden-yellow eyes watching them.

Ashur listened with a grave expression. Yeah, that was a big problem for people who weren't followers of the darker things in life. Ashur was just lucky his family kept to themselves, even when working, for those in the higher up positions. As she spoke of the owls, he glanced around, noticing the suddenly alert owls, all eyes trained on the licorice goodness in his hand. Really, he didn't eat it. He got it as treats for Ateo, always giving her some after she returned from wherever he sent her. Especially when she returned from smuggling him goods...but no one else needed to know about that.
Just when the blonde opened his mouth to speak, there was a soft flutter of wings and a large grey mottled owl snatched a chunk of licorice out of his hand. He stared at the bit left in his hand as another flurry of wings sounded and a white owl snatched a beakful, now leaving the licorice dangerously close to his fingers. A hoot sounded to his right and he looked over to see Kadi's owl take off into the night sky. He turned as wings flurried again and another large owl swooped down, snatching the last of the licorice from him, managing to get his finger in the process. He swore softly to himself, hoping the owls didn't somehow know there was two more licorice wands in his pocket. And, to make matters worse, the aspiring young wizard just so happened to leave his wand in his dorm, not thinking he'd need to fend off a flock of hungry greedy birds.

The older blond took a couple steps away from the male, not wanting to be another target for the owls. It was bad enough that he thought it was a good idea to feed Aya, in a room FULL of hungry unattended owls! She ducked her head as an owl swooped dowl above her, scaring her. She narrowed her eyes at the boy, "Is it usually past midnight when you decide to feed Ateo?" she asked, rolling her eyes. She watched the third bird take the last of his licorice, and she slowly stood up, thinking it could be possibly safe but a few other birds started to rise from their previously resting spots. "Âåëèêèé ..." she grumbled under her breath, leaning down and grabbed her golden colored wand out of her boot. Along the wand, vines circled the want from the hilt to its tip, giving it a peaceful look. She growled and quickly pointed to the ceiling and stated feircly, "Immobulus!" The owls floated above them, frozen. She sighed, sliding her wand back into her boot, "Did you forget your wand?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at the blond male, before grabbing his wrist and pulling him out of the room before they unfroze and attacked them with revenge.

"It's not my fault I didn't bring my wand! How often is it you get attacked by owls over food?" Ashur exclaimed. "Besides, my wand is Burnished Ebony, a fine quality and not something I care to have dropped over the edge of the tower and lost. Also, I always feed Ateo licorice wands when I'm in there. The owls have never before cared that I wasn't sharing." He muttered indignantly.
Oh dear... He thought to himself. ...I just sounded like my father and brother...the ones who were in Slytherin... He sighed softly. "Look, I didn't mean to sound so rude. I just was a little surprised back there and that messed with me a bit. They really have never taken interest in my licorice wands before..."

Kadi rolled her eyes at his changing attitude, "Really?" she groaned in frustration. "Something always happens around here. It's not like a normal everyday muggle world. This place is full of surprises.. I learned to carry my wand around during third year, I've probably replaced it a few times though." she started going on and on, but stopped before she mentioned the stupid green eyed monkey. A flicker of fear appeared in her eyes but it quickly disappeared moments after.
She laughed, "Well, usually, your feeding your own owl, not someone else's. They probably figured since your going to feed a strangers owl, that you can feel ALL of them." she teased, sticking her tongue out at the boy. She was trying to make up for semi-shouting at the boy. She shrugged, "Don't worry about it Ashur.. not everyone is the spitting image of the house they're put in." she explained, with a simple shrug and shut the large door. She pulled her wand out and gently tapped the air while whispering, "Lumos." Light appearing at the end of her wand, lighting the spiraling staircase. She started down the staircase, with a hop to her step, smiling softly, "You comin? Or do you want to find your way back all on your own? In the dark." she asked playfully.

Ashur shook his head and rolled his eyes behind Kadi's back. It wasn't like she had eyes in the back of her head and could see him anyway. "What year are you?" He questioned. "I mean, if you learned to carry your wand when you were a third year then what year are you now?"
He followed after her, wishing he had his wand to help brighten the light since just one wand wasn't very effective for lighting stairways and corridors. "And what house are you in anyway? You're certainly no Slytherin but definitely not a Ravenclaw."

Kadi grinned, laughing softly, "I'm a sixth year deary. What year did you think I was Ashur? A second year?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at him. Her free hand gently ran across the brick wall as she skipped down the stairwell carelessly. She really didn't care what he thought of her.. She cared more about her friends than herself anyway. She stopped at the end of the stairs and turned to him, lightening his face and gave him a funny face, "Haha, I would be in the library if I was a Ravenclaw." she giggled softly, then smiled at him, "I'm in Hufflepuff." she answered softly.
She opened the door and walked out into the winter night, having to walk along the frozen path before she was able to get into the castle. She giggled, when she slipped a little, but managed her to stop herself from falling. "And I'm assuming that your niether a Ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff. So, what house are you in?" she asked curiously. Not saying Slytherin just for that fact that it could possibly annoy him. Cause he seemed to appoligize rather quickly, everytime he started to get arrogent and snippy.
