As Peter Thatcher tiptoed through the castle of Hogwarts, he understood that his world would never be the same. Dragging his trunk by his side with his scrawny little arms, Peter was quite the nervous boy. His future awaited him in this castle, seven long years of wizardry and magic. All of his school supplies were neatly packed away in his massive brown suede trunk, and he had seemed to have fallen behind in the tour groups escorting first years around Hogwarts. He didn't really mind, other than the fact that his trunk was so heavy. Peter shrugged it off. Soon enough he would be able to levitate his trunk instead of exerting energy to move it anywhere. He smirked, and picked his wand up out of his trunk, running his fingers up and down the wooden base.
As seconds turned to minutes, and minutes turned into what felt like hours, Peter was finally beginning to worry. He had no idea who or here anyone was, or how to work these magical staircases before him. Anxiety struck Peter like a ton of bricks. What if he got in trouble on his very first day for being alone at night? It wasn't dark outside yet, but what if no one ever found him? Peter felt like disappearing. But instead he plopped his trunk down on the floors of the entrance hall and took a seat on top of it. He rest his chin in his palms and sighed deeply. It was just his luck that he be lost in a castle on his very first day of school? What else could possibly await him?

The first time you enter Hogwarts, there's a surprising feeling. An overwhelmed feeling of being homesick washes over you and suddenly you miss everything at home. That's exactly how Arya felt. She missed her Muggle friends, her demanding magical parents and her brown nosing siblings. And, yet, at the same time she was oddly excited and awestruck by the scene in front of her. The trunk in her pale hands happened to be full of all her school supplies and secret Muggle nick-nacks she had snuck in during her packing.
In the back of her mind she knew it was time for her to make her pureblood parents proud, but how?
"Oh no, no, no..." She muttered, her wide, terrified eyes taking in the moving stair case. How was she to operate these... things Was this some terrible prank older students pulled on first years? The idea of them enchanting the staircases being the best they had allowed her to heave a sigh of relief --- if only she knew that for the next seven years she'd be navigating these moving staircases because it wasn't a prank after all. Another few moments passed when she noticed another child in the entrance hall. Oh thank heavens, he looks as terrified as I am! Excitement flushed over her and she dragged herself and her trunk towards him. "Is this your first year, too?!" She exclaimed, letting go of her trunk. The loud THUMP her trunk made caused her to jump a bit. "I'm Arya... of Ravenclaw! This is quite overwhelming, isn't it?"

Lexi positively bounced through the entrance hall, she was overwhelmingly excited to be back at Hogwarts again. She may only have been a second year, but the castle felt so much like home away from home she could have been there for many more years than that. She hadn't spotted many of her friends around yet, that was one draw back of not arriving on the Hogwarts Express with most of the other students, too some time to find people you recognised. However Lexi lived but a few miles away from the school in a little Scottish fishing village. Her muggle fisherman father had seen her onto the Knight Bus with her school trunk, and her new pet tabby cat, before he left on his latest trip out to sea.
She much preferred being at Hogwarts when he was away at sea, far less lonely than spending days at home alone being looked after by their elderly neighbour. Lexi was a half-blood, her mother had been a witch but she had sadly passed away when Lexi was very young and before coming to Hogwarts she had known very little of her magical heritage. She was however a pretty quick study, well she was a Ravenclaw afterall, and had spent much of her summer reading through both her old and her new spell books getting well versed for the new coming year. It was just a shame she couldn't practice at home. Although now she was at school had the rules changed? Could she practice some of the spells she'd learned last year now?
While having an internal debate on whether to dig her birch wand out of her trunk Lexi realised that she wasn't quite as alone in the entrance hall as she thought she had been. Wow, way to be observant Lexi, she inwardly told herself with a shake of her head that sent chestnut brown waves flowing over her shoulders. She didn't recognise either of them from all the way across the room, not that it mattered, the friendly socialble creature that she was Lexi had to go over and introduce herself no matter who they were.
"Hi guys, I'm Lexi." She chirrped brightly from behind the boy and girl. "Are you looking forward to the school year starting again? I can't wait!" She asked, criging at how lame her question was and did it make her sound unbelieveably nerdy or what?

Time was beginning to slip away from Peter, and so was his mind. He was positively bored at this point, as the awestruck mindset he had once possessed no longer stuck with him. He was absentmindedly scraping his wand back and forth over the stone floors of the castle, humming old tunes to himself for absolutely no reason. Maybe eventually someone would find him and scold him up to his chamber, but until then there wasn't much to be done. It was right when Peter began to close his eyes and take a short cat nap did another human being appear.
From her badge Peter could tell that she was among him, as a Ravenclaw. Without introducing himself, Peter already took the assumption that she was an intellectual as well. Finally! If anyone could save Peter from this terrible mess it would be someone with a sense of brain power. He watched her as she studied the moving staircases, and giggled to himself. Intellectual, she was, but a female, she was as well. Nonetheless, Peter couldn't operate the staircases any more efficiently than she, so he decided to cut we some slack. He watched her as she walked over and introduced herself.
"Aye, it's my first year as well! Names Peter, Peter Thatcher! Ravenclaw as well!" he exclaimed, proudly pointing to his badge tucked neatly into his robes. "You think they'd have a bit of sympathy for us first years, I've been sitting here for what feels like ages! I've not a clue where to go, or how I would even approach it," he smirked, nodding st the staircases before him. They were changing so quickly and rapidly. Peter imagined himself climbing the first staircase, only to reach the top step, walking over it to his ultimate demise.
Peter jumped as he heard another , different voice from his side. He turned, spotting another girl, this one appeared slightly older than him and his new companion. He smiled and stuck out his hand to the attractive older girl now before him. "Peter Thatcher at your company!" He may not have had a sense of confidence, but Peter thought himself quite the charmer. "I'm quite excited myself, though at the same time I'm quite puzzled.. Frankly I'm brand new here, and I have absolutely no idea where I am expected," he giggled, shrugging. "Glad to have some company though, for a while it was just my trunk and I," he joked, nodding to the leather case behind him. "Doesn't talk much, but he's quite the listener!"

As she drew closer to the other two students in the entrance hall Lexi could tell that they were also both Ravenclaws, was always nice to meet her fellow housemates. This fact also made her pretty sure they much be first years. While she couldn't claim to know every Ravenclaw in the school she at least recognised most of them by sight, especially those around her own age, these two however looked completely new. Perhaps Lexi could be helpful to them, that would be good, she liked to feel useful.
"Well it's nice to meet you Peter." Lexi replied as she shook his offered hand. Only elven and the boy already spoke like a gentleman, said something about the way he'd been raised. Lexi's father had been a real stickler for manners and she often noted it first in other people.
"And you too, of course." She smiled happily at the girl who'd been stood talking with Peter when Lexi had joined them. But she waited for the girl to intoduce herself in her own time.
"So, are you both first years then?" Lexi questioned. "It's funny they usually have some kind of tour of the castle and stuff for first years when they join, so they know where they're going and what not. Although the place is so big it'd take years to learn the whole place. I only just managed to find all my classes last year." Lexi could ramble on some when she got going, so trying to curb her enthusiasm for story telling she asked. "So, uh, have you not found the common room yet then? I could show you both how to get there if you like."

A smile crept across Arya's face, which was difficult since she was already grinning in an attempt to be friendly. Double smile! Another Ravenclaw, how exciting! Maybe if she was lucky, the entire school would just consists of Ravenclaws. No Slytherins, as she had heard them stereotyped as rude people. No Gryffindors, as she had also heard those types being classified as self-righteous bold people. As for the Hufflepuffs... well, who cares? At the end of the day, though, Arya knew she wouldn't care what house a person was from so long as they were nice and friendly to her. "Nice to meet you, Peter!"
Before she had time to reply to Peters talk of the staircases, another girl walked up to the duo. She introduced herself as Lexi and asked if they were excited for the school year to start. "Oh, boy, am I! Kind of nervous but, you know, cest la vie!" Using muggle phrases probably wasn't the best idea considering the situation, but soon after realizing the new comer was also a Ravenclaw, she had no worries about her intelligence. "I'm Arya, nice to meet you as well, Lexi."
After Peter made mention of his trunk not talking back to him, Arya started to wonder if there was a spell to make inanimate objects speak. Of course she decided against verbalizing that question on the off chance that she would end up sounding like an idiot. "Yeah, we're both first years. Two very lost first years, heh." She chuckled and gestured towards the staircases. It didn't take Arya long to make another note on Lexi, she was obviously older than Peter and herself. "Well, hey, you could show us some places on the way to the common room!" She suggest enthusiastically, hoping she wasn't already asking too much of the girl.

It seemed as if Peter's dreams had come true! He had discovered two other young students, one of them had even attended Hogwarts a year prior to Peter! That meant that she had a sense of direction and the capabaility to lead him anywhere he needed to go. As she shook his hand, Peter noticed her polite grip and soft hands. He smiled at her and proceeded to answer her question. "Yep! This'll be my first year at Hogwash- Howarts!" he giggled. "Sorry. I've been sitting here so long I've been struck silly!"he giggled again. He though himself quite charismatic, and brushed his hair back with another chuckle.
Peter lined up in a military fashion next to the girl his age, Arya. She had previously admitted that she was also a lost first year in this gigantic castle. "Are we getting the routine tour? Oh boy!" Peter exclaimed excitedly. He wished he had brought a camera. The beauty in the giant stone walls and paintings massed throughout the hallways had impressed Peter to the upmost degree. It was almost too much to take in at once. He turned back to the girls in an excited manner, recovering from a pretty intense daydream.
"Just let me grab my trunk!" he directed the two girls, turning to face the giant brown beast before him. He took a deep breath, then heaved the trunk over his shoulder, only to lose his balance, and fall to the ground with a wild thud. "Oops.. Erm, ouch!" Peter smiled, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Maybe he shouldn't have spent the summer reading books, and instead hitting the weights. Then again, when was Peter ever your common ladies man?
"Hmmm, don't suppose you two could lend me a hand?" he suggested, bending over to pick up the books and clothes leaking out of his trunk. He was quick to pick up the undergarments first. It was just his first day, after all, and he had already embarrassed himself to a pretty dramatic extent.

"Arya, that's a pretty name." Lexi said pleasantly as the girl introduced herself. "And dont worry about feeling lost, I don't think that feeling ever truely goes away no matter how long you spend here. Pretty sure some of the teachers don't know ALL the places in the castle. But it's pretty easy to get the hang of finding the important places." Lexi chuckled to herself, remembering just how daunting the castle and its vastness had seemed on her first few weeks. Now she was hoping that after the long summer she could remember where it was they had to go, or it could turn into a very intersting tour.
"I can show you a few of the good spots, we'll get past plenty of them what with the Ravenclaw tower being right at the top of the school. So be prepared for a walk." Lexi thought it best to warn them, the castle certainly looked big, but when you had to walk it it felt on a whole 'nother scale of big.
She was just about to mention something about the trunks when Peter attempted to lift his by himself but wound up spilling the contents all over the marble floor. Lexi couldn't suppress the giggles that escaped her, thankfully he seemed to find it funny also or she might have felt a bit bad for laughing; but hey it was pretty funny. As he requested help, Lexi knealt down and began gathering up books and school supplies and stacking them rather haphazardly back into Peter's trunk. Lexi wasn't tidy nor organised in anything, so she was hoping he wasn't expecting things packed back in any sort of order or he might be better off doing it himself.
"Ah I was just going to mention about the trunks. You can leave them just over there," She pointed to a small area just off of the main expanse of the entrance hall, "The house elves will have them sent to the dormitories so you don't have to try lugging them up all the stairs. Kind of handy really, it'd be a nightmare trying to get up there without magic to help." Lexi had learned the levitation spell during her first year, but having not been able to practice for weeks she was dubious about just how well it would work, certainly not well enough to float two trunks all the way to Ravenclaw tower.
"So ah, why don't you guys leave your trunks over there then I can show you around a bit. Anywhere you want to see particularly?"

First day at Hogwarts, first day of his new life. At least for the next seven years. Luggage in hand Kevin made his way to the front of the castle. This was the front entrance wasn't it? The path lead him here so it had to be? A few steps and two large wooden doors loomed infront, the castle walls seemed to go forever on each side.
"I'm here, so what now?" Kevin shouted to no one. No one but the wooden doors, the closed wooden doors. Tossing a small rock at the door which did nothing then fall back down the steps. "Hello?" He called out again in vain.

Peter listened to Lexi as she explained about the elves. He had heard about them from his parents and researched them a little bit in his books, but he had not yet encountered one in his time. As he stuffe the last bit of his clothing in his trunk, unorganized as ever, he jammed the lid of the trunk down with all of his might, and buckled it safely shut. "Phew! Now that was a workout," he giggled, pretending to wipe the sweat off of his forehead. "Boy, it's going to take more than a few of those elves to lift that!"
As he listened to the question proposed before him, Peter began to ponder through all of the place he wished to explore. The castle was a magnificent place, containing all kinds of secret rooms and fascinating chambers. Should he ask to visit a classroom, or perhaps a trip to the Great Hall where they would be enjoying their meals every day. As Peter thought, he snapped his fingers he came to a realization. "Oh yes! Could we pleeeease visit the library? I heard it's quite the place for knowledge," he beamed. If there was anywhere Peter could spend extreme amounts of time, it would be in the Hogwarts library.
As Peter kept close watch out of the corner of his eye for an elf or two to appear, he heard the distant calling out of another voice. He turned to the huge wooden doors behind them. A voice was coming from that direction. "Oh wow, the doors speak here too? My parents didn't tell me that," Peter stated, a huge beaming grin appearing on his face. This place was fascinating! He was already imagining the conversations he would have with all of the doors in this gigantic castle. Maybe they would even become some of his closest friends.
Suddenly, Peter heard a loud thud from behind the door, as of something had been tossed at it with brutal force. Peter began to feel foolish. Of course it wasn't the doors speaking too him, it was another student. Using all of his might, Peter pulled the large doors open, revealing the new student before him. Peter could tell by his badge that he was in Gryffindor, and by his size that he was of their age. "How's it going? Names Peter!" Peter introduced himself, holding out his hand. "You're just in time! Lexi here was about to give us a tour of the castle," he smiled, nodding over to their tour guide.

"Library, oh yeah I can definitely show you that one." Lexi grinned, she was a Ravenclaw after all so duh the library was like a home away from the common room. "It is definitely an impressive sight I can tell you."
The two first years deposited their trunks with the few others that were already there and waiting for the house elves to drop them in the dormitories, Lexi ran through a few of the places that she could also show them, besides the library and the common room. It was just as they were about to venture up the stairs that there came a loud banging noise from across the entrance hall. It echoed around the large stone room, as the did the voice that followed after it.
Peter had hurried towards the door, rather excitedly mentioning somethin about the doors talking? Lexi frowned, she wasn't sure whether he was being serious and whether she should correct him, or if it was just a joke. Either way she didn't get a chance to say anything as Peter seemed to realise the voice had come from another person and thew open the heavy wooden door to allow the owner of the voice to come through.
It was another young boy, probably another first year if the confusion that read on his face was anything to go by. Peter had introduced himself and explained how Lexi was about to show them around a bit. The new boy joining them however wasn't a Ravenclaw, but a Gryffindor. "Um yeah, I was going to show these two a few of the features of the school, you can come along if you want to." She said kindly. "Though I don't know where the Gryffindor common room is or anything so won't be able to help you out with that one I'm afriad." She shrugged. She knew Gryffindor were up in one of the towers like the Ravenclaws were but where exactly she wasn't sure.
"Oh and I'm Lexi by the way, nice to meet you."

"That's a good suggestion Petey, but... where do eat food at around here?" Arya inquired. After all, the library was great, but food was glorious!
Arya set down her trunks where Lexi had instructed them to, and was about to make another suggestion about what Lexi should show them when Peter started going on about talking doors. "I actually think that's another per..." Before she could finish, the boy was already rushing towards the doors. She watched with a grin on her face as Peter realized his mistake and opened the door for another new student, a small Gryffindor who was quite clearly also their age. "Well, look at that, Lex! You should become a real certified tour guide with the way this crowd is growing."
Remembering that the newcomer was actually inside the school now, Arya decided to go ahead and introduce herself as well. "Hi! I'm Arya, what's your name?" She was starting to feel quite bored with all these formalities. It was about time for some adventure. "Where does the headmaster hide the dragons? I heard there talk of huge dragons being here at Hogwarts. Can we see them?" Arya was clearly too excited over a bit of gossip she had heard from other students who were probably just purposely trying to fool her.

Just a few minutes before frustration took over Kevin the two large door swung open. One face, then two followed by a third person now stood before him. A boy and two girls, not a bad find for his first hour at school. Friendly to at first impression and all seemed to be around his age. "Oh thanks. It was looking like rain out here and I didn't bring an umbrella"
A return smile, a few steps and he was now inside the castle. In the middle of the small group of strangers who after each introducing themselves, no longer felt as distant. "Nice to meet all of you. I am Kevin Wishborne. First day here but that was probably obvious huh?" His eyes began to scan the area. This place was huge and was only the entrance. Kevin hoped the girl was serious about a guided tour of the castle or else he was going to invest in a map.
"I'm up for a tour if you don't mind me tagging along?" It sure beat standing here all day which is probably what would have happened if these three had not showed up. Even though about the same height Lexi must be a year or two older. An assumption based on her knowledge and the eagerness of the others to follow. "They have dragons here? That is a must visit. I'm up for anything though, oh and does anyone know the Headmasters name?" That was enough questions for now, not wanting to wear out his welcome. Except for "Does anyone have chabge for a dollar? I could really use a Pepsi."

"Oh food," Lexi grinned widely at Arya's suggestion, "Well now that's an easy one, we'll go there first as the Great Hall is just over there." Lexi pointed to the vast double doors over the other side of the entrance hall. "And they have THE BEST food here, you just have to try it."
She gestured for the three first years to follow her and made her way over towards the Great Hall and the smell of food that always drifted from beneath the cracks in the door. "It's almost lunchtime anyway, so as my first offical tour guide duty how about I show you where to get lunch. Then we can move on to the rest of the castle. How does that sound to you guys."
It seemed Kevin would probably be willing to take a trip into the great hall, if he was thirsty that was really the only place to go get a drink from. "Um, no sorry no change but you shouldn't need it anyway Kevin. If we go to the Great Hall you can get yourself a drink in there...not sure if they have Pepsi, but y'know wizarding equivalent probably." She shrugged.
It was mildly amusing to hear the three get quite excited about the prospect of dragons at Hogwarts. Unfortunately as far as Lexi was aware there weren't any, not in the school. Well not since the Triwizard tournament years ago. She felt she would have to break the bad news. "Well I've never seen any dragons here I'm afraid guys, I don't think there are any. But I wouldn't be able to show you even if there were as, like I said, I've never seen any here. There are unicorns and hippogryffs and stuff in the forest though. We're not supposed to go in there but, well, people still do." Admittedly Lexi had never ventured off into the forest alone, only during COMC lessons but she wasn't entirely adverse to the idea.
"Right, you guys all ready for some food? I'll show you where your House tables are. Though everybody does seem to switch around when it's not one of the big special feasts."

As Peter followed their Bruce tour guide Lexi into the Great Hall, his jaw dropped in amazement. It could have been the mass amount of floating candles above them. It could have been the enormous tables stretching from one end of te hall to the other. It could have just been the sheer size of the hall itself. Whatever it was, Peter couldn't contain his excitement. "Oh wow! This is where we eat?!" he exclaimed, looking around for the food.
As Peter listened to the other boy ask for a Pepsi, he giggled. "Pepsi? I had one of those when I was in London once. I'd much prefer a butterbeer," he nodded, licking his lips. Boy did that sound good at the moment. As Lexi carried on about the Forbidden Forest Peter's parents had warned him about venturing into, he began to fantasize about dragons and other creatures fighting with each other. Peters imagination tended to escape him sometimes..
Right as his stomach grumbled, Peter heard their guide mention food. "FOOD?! Erm, I mean, yes, food sounds delightful," he blushed. He hadn't eaten anything but a chocolate frog on the train that carried him to Hogwarts. That seemed like ages ago. Peter peered around for his house table. "Which one is it?" he asked. If he didn't find some food soon enough, he was worried that his companions might appear as chicken wings like on old muggle cartoons.
